%%%My%alter%ego%for%this%experiment%was%Mario%Loweystro.%I%wanted%this%character%to%be%fake,%to%avoid%any%biases%based%on%pre>existing%identity,%and%because%preliminary%experiments%showed%I%was%no%more%likely%to%get%replies%with%a%pre>existing%account%than%with%a%new%one.%However,%I%wanted%him%to%be%realistic;%I%wanted%to%make%sure%my%new%friends%knew%I%was%not%a%bot.%%To%give%him%some%backstory,%I%mostly%used%my%history,%identity,%and%interests%(and%picture).%A%total%blank%slate%would%be%uninteresting%and%would%limit%conversation.%However,%the%real%Dan%would%never%tweet%at%corporations,%so%I%had%to%lower%my%guard%a%bit.%As%a%result,%the%Mario%who%tweets%here%is%a%slightly%more%naïve,%wide>eyed%version%of%myself.%%The%name%Mario%Loweystro%comes%from%high%school.%Some%friends%and%I%decided%that%it%was%the%most%realistic>sounding%fake%name%we%could%come%up%with.%
