Given that this is the first bridge project under the PPP framework, the DPWH proposes to implement a pilot test in Luzon. In connection therewith, the Planning Service initially recommended 139 selected bridges in Luzon for replacement and new construction. By tapping private sector resources and skills in the financing, design, and construction of the selected various types of bridges, the project is expected to improve, and provide direct, uninterrupted access to and between outlying barangays, municipalities and cities, thereby facilitating the transport of goods and services among them. The project will also lower the transport costs of the products.
