KNOWLEDGE VERSUS VISUALISATION

A bit about me • A qualified Accountant, Exec MBA from Cranfield, BSc (Hons) Physiology

The Challenge • How to help the UK largest car financing business manage its dealer performance better.

Why Data Visualisation

• Existing reports old, redundant, not flexible, not tailored, difficult to see wood for the trees

How to focus on the right stuff

• Series of workshops, agile sprints, regular sessions between developers, SMEs and end-users

What did we learn

• There is no right answer, the customer is always right, if they like bar charts, give them bar charts. Getting the right data is key, rather than just how it is presented.

• Unavailability/ Access issues of data for reporting can’t be under-estimated.

What did we learn

Page 31: Public Final Saqhib Ali Lloyds Banking Group presentations widescreen 2016

© 2016 Lloyds Banking Group plc and its subsidiaries

Buy in from both end users as well as senior management at the same time.

We could have asked end-users to create their own reports after training them by helping in first PoC

What would we do differently

Rather than

Knowledge Versus Visualisation,

should instead be

Better Insight Through Visualisation
