DOWNTOWN TEMPE Public Art Walking Guide Public Art Since its inception in 1988, the City of Tempe has cultivated a diverse collection of public art pieces incorporated throughout the community. Art installations are designed to complement the natural and built environments, while strengthening a sense of place and community. www.tempe.gov/PublicArt Art in Private Development The Art in Private Development Ordinance of 1991 has beautified the community with privately owned art installations that are accessible to the public. www.tempe.gov/AIPD Art in Neighborhoods Tempe’s Maryanne Corder Neighborhood Grant Program, overseen by the Neighborhood Services Division, has funded a wide variety of neighborhood art projects. www.tempe.gov/Neighborhoods IN FLUX IN FLUX is a multi-city public art initiative that showcases Arizona artists who create temporary, site-specific installations for vacant spaces. Keep an eye out for IN FLUX projects across Tempe! www.INFLUXAZ.com Utility Boxes In partnership with the Downtown Tempe Authority, Tempe Public Art commissions artists to refresh the utility boxes along Mill Avenue and beyond every five years.
