Idaho Warriors, I’m glad to see you referring to this customer service guide for all things relating to public affairs. You are all customers of my command information program and I want you to have an effective process for your requests. My public affairs team wants you to have as much infor-mation at your fingertips as possible. Our public affairs program is structured to respond to your evolving needs through ‘maximum dis-closure and minimum delay.’ Consult this guide often. Consider all the ways you can use the tools we have in place to increase communi-cation, improve workplace atmosphere, and enhance your unit’s readiness. Our informa-tion technology is increasingly broadening and

I intend to take advantage of our opportunities to communicate through my public affairs program. I encourage every unit at the squadron level and above to designate a Unit Public Affairs Representative (UPAR). My public affairs team will equip them with the tools they need to excel.

-Col. Tim Donnelan

The Idaho Air National Guard’s mission is two-fold: first, in support of the Governor of Idaho, Air Guardsmen assist civil authorities in response to a variety of natural or human-caused disasters; secondly, they train to a high state of readiness to fully integrate with active-duty Air Force personnel in support of the President wherever and whenever they are called upon.

STATE MISSION STATEMENT:When called upon by the governor of Idaho, we provide personnel and

equipment to assist civil authorities prior to, during and after emergencies or disasters; to protect life and property, preserve peace, order and public safety.

VISION STATEMENT:One team, committed to excellence and continuous improvement, always

ready to provide first-class people and equipment to meet the needs of our nation and state.

PICTURES ON ANY MILITARY INSTALLATION

You are encouraged to use social media to share your experiences as an Airman. You can contact your local public affairs office to see if they can share your story, or you can publish information on your social media accounts. Whether you’re sharing infor-mation with just your close friends and family or sharing it with the world in a YouTube video or a blog, you’re inform-ing people on what it’s like to be a part of the world’s greatest Air Force. Your stories might inspire someone to join the Air Force, support the Air Force, comfort a parent or spouse, improve morale or correct inaccurate information.

Air Force families may want to use social media to keep in touch with deployed Airmen, network with other military families and share stories on social media.

People can feel comfortable about using social media and letting their Airmen use social media. It’s one of the many tools available to communicate information, and it has a value-added capability of promoting interaction.

If you would like more information about using social media, contact the Social Media Division at the Air Force Public Affairs Agency at afpaa.hq. [email protected] or (210) 395-1795; DSN 969- 1795

Media operations are essential for achieving airman morale and readiness, public trust and support, and global influence and deterrence. 124th Fighter Wing media operations are conducted in accordance with AFI 35-104, Media Operations.

Every Airman is a spokesman. The media has a need for rapid, accurate informa-tion. Military members are pro-hibited from using the Air Force name to endorse or appearing to endorse any product, company or commercial concern.

Media flights and travel are intended to cover the Air Force mission and media outlets are authorized to perform aerial photography. Coverage of the mission must not interference with mission basis. Media will observe all safety regulations and follow the directions of the flight crew at all times.

Responding promptly, accurately, and completely to requests for information is an important part of Public Affairs. Members of the community must submit all requests for 124FW aircraft to participate in public events (air shows, aircraft flybys, open houses, etc.) to the HQ USAF office of the SAF for Public Affairs (SAF/PA). Any guardsman can encourage and assist a non-profit organization in Idaho through the request process using an electronic Form 2535. The DD Form 2535 (request for armed forces partici-pation in public events) requires an official representative from an organi-zation or event staff to complete the form and follow all the required steps.

124FW staff is not allowed to com-plete a DD2535 for a requesting orga-nization, but will assist organizations that ask. SAF/PA decides which events qualify for support. 124FW can only support eligible events that occur on days when the fighter wing is engag-ing in training sorties.
