From the PTA PresidentAs Thanksgiving approaches, I am constantly thinking of how grateful I am to be part of Donaldson Elementary. We have wonderful staff that love our children! We have awesome parents who give so much time, money and effort to make our school great! I feel truly blessed and honored to work beside such amazing people!
We always need volunteers! In the upcoming months we will be holding Santa Shop, the Variety Show, and Donaldson Discovers. These are great opportunities to feel like a celebrity! Every kid is overjoyed to see a new adult that they recognize helping in their school! Only can commit to 1 hour of fame? We have positions that fit into any schedule. (Remember: clearances are required to help during the school day.) Watch your email for volunteer opportunities, or contact me at [email protected].
We wish you a very safe and happy holiday season! See you all next year!

It’s that time already! Christmas is right around the corner and it is time for the annual Santa’s Workshop being held this year December 8-12.
Our gift shop allows students to purchase presents for all of their family and friends. There are over 125 different items to choose from, customized for all ages. You will be receiving a classroom shopping schedule and an envelope for each
student to use. Please list those for whom your child is to shop, any ideas, and price range for each person on the envelope. Please note that there is limited time for each student to shop. Make sure you place the student’s name and room number on the envelope and have them bring it on their designated shopping day.
Prices will range from $.25 to $10.00. We will also have a selection of
WA Spirit Wear this year around the same price range. If paying by check, please make payable to: Donaldson PTA.
Volunteers will be needed both for set up on Friday, December 5 and if you have clearances on file to assist our young shoppers during the shopping days.
If you have any questions, please send an email to Melissa Gnoth [email protected].

What’s a SMART Board?A Smart Board is an interactive whiteboard that uses touch detection of computer applications and the ability to write over
standard Windows applications. It’s connected to an LCD panel and computer, creating an interactive whiteboard. Still confused? This helpful video shows how real teachers are
using Smart Boards and how it impacts children in the classroom.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U05WeXPGlk
Help us raise the funds to reach our goal of FOUR Smart Boards in the classrooms by the end of this year!
Over 9,000 Box Tops for Education were submitted in the recent collection effort, and as a result, Donaldson Elementary will be receiving a check for over $940! Congratulations to Mrs. Hamilton’s 5th grade class for winning the recent Box Tops contest! They were awarded a certificate and treat provided by the PTA. Mrs. Hamilton’s class collected over 1,000 Box Tops alone, while Mrs. Stone’s class collected over 800 and Mrs. King’s over 750. What an awesome job by everyone! Please continue to clip and keep those Box Tops as another collection effort will be happening in January. ATTENTION PARENTS:
PICTURES WANTED for the yearbook! Please send any pictures that you take throughout the school year for possible yearbook submission to Jessica Marshall [email protected]

Some examples are parties, field trips, birthday
books, teacher appreciation, yearbooks,
recreational equipment, cultural programs in the
arts, school assemblies and so much more! We’ll
keep you updated on what our National PTA is
working to achieve. Weʹll keep trying to come up
with ways to meet the needs of our children, our
teachers, our school and our community.
To achieve these goals, we need your voice. We
need your ideas and we need your input. Wonʹt
you please consider becoming involved in our
