We will search the EBSCOHost
database PsycINFO for peer reviewed
articles concerningaggressive behavior in
teenage girls who play
violent video games.
For this search we will use the check box, “Suggest Subject
Terms”, to view descriptors used to categorize articles.
Entering the term aggression provides a drop down menu of suggested terms.
The terms “Aggressive Behavior” and “Aggressiveness” are the
terms we wish to search.
We select these by checking the box
next to the term.
Press “add” to place these in the search form.
Use the connector “OR”
so that both the terms are
searched.
Next we narrow the results, first by age and then by gender.
Next we will do a key word search for video game violence.
We can add the key words most appropriate and then press search for the results.
As we type the term, the drop down menu displays
suggested key words.
Looking at the article titles will tell us how accurate our search has been.
Articles may be printed, emailed, or
exported by first adding them to the
EBSOCHost folder.
Selecting the folder icon at the top of the screen opens the folder and displays the
articles you have selected.
Always read the article abstracts.
When you are ready select the items you want, choose the email icon, type in your email address, select the proper citation format and
send your results.
