Why use Psychometric Assessments?

75% of The Top 100 UK companies use psychometric tests in one form or another. They are typically used as part of the recruitment process, but also in employee development, team building and leadership succession planning.

There is a high cost of getting a new hire wrong, consequently, many companies use psychometric assessments to help provide an independent measure of a person’s competencies, abilities, personality and motivation. This helps build a complete picture of the person and assess their suitability for a role in an objective manner. Assessments add significant value when used as part of a multi-stage recruitment process, alongside application forms / CVs, and face-to-face interviews.

Assessments can also be used as part of an appraisal or development programme. By asking individuals and teams to complete these assessments, you can gain valuable insight into individual strengths and development areas, as well as seeing how the team works together. This can help drive further training and development plans. British Psychological Society

We hold in-house certification through the British Psychological Society (BPS), and as such, we are qualified to administer a wide range of BPS approved psychometric tests. We are also are certified to administer Work and Organisational Assessments, as a member of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Association (EFPA), the leading professional body in the EU.

Our membership of the BPS and the EFPA allows Pinnacle Executive to access to a comprehensive catalogue of leading edge tests, that are globally recognised as being the most accurate predictors of workplace performance. Most of our tests are available in over 30 languages.

As British Psychological Society members, we are required to demonstrate a high degree of competency and knowledge in psychometric testing and are governed by their code of ethics, incorporating best practice and the principles of equality and diversity.

Personality Assessments

We are certified Saville Assessment Wave® Practitioners and can administer the Wave® Professional Styles suite of questionnaires. In a co-validation study, Wave Professional Styles, outperformed the OPQ32i™, NEO-PI-R™, Hogan Personality Inventory™ and 16PF5™ on both work competencies and overall global measures of performance.

Wave® Professional Styles measures; motives, talents, preferred culture and competency potential in one dynamic online questionnaire. A wide range of additional reports can also be generated with some popular ones being:Wave® Onboarding Report - this can be applied at all work levels to positively impact ROI of new hires with a tailored approach.

Wave® Leadership Impact Report - this bridges the gap between behaviours and leadership outcomes. It uses Wave deep-dives to identify leadership potential and provide extra levels of detail for improved performance.

Wave® Interview Guide - this allows Hiring Managers access to psychometric data which focus on the relevant competencies. It also provides questions to probe the candidate, based on responses to the Wave personality assessment.

Ability & Aptitude Assessments

These tests typically assess a person's cognitive ability in Verbal, Numerical and Abstract reasoning. We also however look at Critical Thinking as an additional aspect of ability.

For Verbal, Numerical and Abstract reasoning assessment, we use CEB's Verify® range of tests. CEB, owned by Gartner, are a leading global talent assessment test provider and they tests are highly validated.

For Critical Thinking, we use the Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal, supplied by Hogrefe Europe’s leading publisher psychometric assessments.

The Watson Glaser is a powerful measure designed to test the ability to look at a situation and clearly understand it from multiple perspectives, whilst separating facts from opinions and assumptions.

Leaders at all levels are bombarded with information that looks good on the surface, but they may draw the wrong conclusions, and therefore make the wrong decisions. Making the right decisions in business is vital.

Situational Judgement Tests (SJTs)

One of the most important challenges for any leadership team is ‘Do our leaders know how to manage?’

Situational Judgement Tests measure an individual’s ability to weigh up real-life situations and decide on appropriate and effective ways of handling them. The test places an individual in a number of hypothetical situations where a selection of different options are suggested. The responses are then compared with a set of ideal answers generated by experts – giving an assessment of the person's judgement.

We use CEB's Executive Scenarios Situational Judgement test. This is a unique test of Managerial Judgement - highlighting the individual’s ability to decide on effective ways of handling real life situations. It is specifically designed to assess judgement in Executives; a group which typically has significant work experience to draw on.

These types of tests can also establish alignment between the company's and the individual's values - which helps to assess a good 'Cultural Fit'.

Emotional Judgement Tests
