Psychoanalysis and the Garden of Eden: Humanity, the source and origin of the

    Serpent

Rabbinic Jews have crafted assumption after assumption about almost every meaningful Bible doctrine, misconstruing them

to teach what theyve wanted them to, divorcing the Bible from the truth which is a mockery of sacred justice. People have

for centuries believed that a talking snake, one that walked like a human lived in the garden of Eden and was the thing that

deceived Eve into disobeying God but is this realistic? If you search the internet for serpent and garden of Eden you will

find a whole mythology surrounding walking, talking serpents who were later cursed by Yahweh and made to lick up dust on

the ground but I again ask, is this in anyway realistic? Some believe that Satan was the one who spoke through the snake

tempting Eve, or that even this snake was actually satan himself disguised as an animal. Unfortunately, something Bible

lovers tend to ignore is that there is never any other place in the Bible where any angel could transform itself into an animal,

and anytime an animal is ever said to speak it is an action ordained by God Himself (as seen in the story of Balaam). Another

thing people tend to conveniently ignore is that the devil, as an angel would have to be acting under the direct permission of

God (if following the rules of Job 2), therefore, the devils tempting of Eve would have to have come from Gods desire,

making God the author of confusion as well as the father of lies which He certainly cannot be.

Apart from believing in speaking animals, fallen angels (which is an impossibility according to (Matt 22:30) for we are sinless

after the resurrection as are the angels now) and God being the first deceiver of mankind via a satan (which is a noun and

the Hebrew word adversary; look it up), a more rational and biblical interpretation of the Genesis account is required. With a

re-corrected understanding of the original Hebrew, and with knowledge of the context in which it speaks, using the Bible to

interpret itself, we will see what this misnomered serpent, more accurately defined as a hiss is, and see that it was nothing

more than humanities inner voice or self-conscience. I will show you that our Godless physiopsychology (minds acting upon

our bodies) is to blame for our first sin, and not a literal snake. This explanation showing how men are guilty for their own

actions, and showing that our first sin was caused by Eves nave desire to be like Yahweh, therefore giving valid explanation

for why God has such pity upon fallen humanity.

  • In the Genesis account we are introduced to a word that is not yet defined anywhere else in the Bible, and this word is

nchsh (H5175). What is nchsh? Its Hebrew, and it describes the hissing sound created by a snake. The Hebrews named

this sort of snake after the noise it made, its sound being its most distinguishable characteristic. Yet this hissing noise comes

from another Hebrew word that gives perfect clarity to the nature of the serpent in Eden, as I will show you. The nchshs

root word is also nchash (H5172) (having different vowel points) and its meaning is whisperer, prognosticator or something

that entices by its shine. The difference between the first nchsh and the second nchash is that the first is a masculine

noun, while the second is a verb. The word evil or raa in the Hebrew is also a verb not a noun just as nchash or whisper

    is.

Reasons why the serpent cannot be a literal snake

In Jermeiah 17:9 we have an account about the human mind and how its deceitful above literally all things. This account of

Jeremiah 17:9 has a relationship with Gensis 3 and Ill show you how:

Now the serpent was more cunning than any (Gen 3:1) these words than any in the Hebrew language are min kl,

meaning that the serpent or more accurately the hiss/whisper was more cunning (cunning meaning able to trick or deceive,

artful, this has a negative connotation) then literally everything made on the earth. So the nchsh or whisper, is said to be

the most deceptive thing in earthly existence, even more deceptive than humankind. While the scripture in Jeremiah (17:9)

says The heart is deceitful above all things alluding to the unbridled mind of man, which also in the Hebrew language is

written as min kl (just as in Gen 3:1) this meaning that the heart is more deceitful then ALL THINGS (all things

including yes, even satan. See why true believers in Yahweh cannot believe in His Sovereignty while believing in a literal

satan here); and through the above explanations we see that the nchsh cannot be a material snake, nor can it represent all

serpents, but must be a by-product of the most deceitful thing in existence which is the human mind! There is not

enough room in the scriptures for the serpent to be more deceitful than the mind, but their is room for these to be the same

thing (yes the words all things in both passages are to be taken literally). A word study on deceitful shows that cunning and

    deceitful share the same meaning:

deceitful: qb (Jer 17:9) The heart is deceitful above all things, and incurable: who can know it?

From H6117; in the original sense, a knoll (as swelling up); in the denominative sense (transitively) fraudulent or

    (intransitively) tracked: crooked, deceitful, polluted.

    deceit: mirmh (psa 43:1)

From H7411 in the sense of deceiving; fraud: craft, deceit (-ful, -fully), false, feigned, guile, subtilly, treachery.

cunning: rm (Gen 3:1) the nchash was more cunning than any life of the ground which Yahweh Elohim had

    made.

Passive participle of H6191; cunning (usually in a bad sense): crafty, prudent, subtil.

Even further, the word strike him in his heel (Gen 3:15) is one word in the Hebrew being qb, this is closely related to

the same word used in Jeremiah 17:9 where is says the mind is deceitful above all things. The word deceitful used here is

qb. This shows further synonymy between the deceitful mind and the deceptive nchash. The nchash is a synonym for

the sinfulness within us, it entices us to lust, and according to Yahweh is deceiving above all things even satan. Is it more

reasonable to call Jeremiah a liar and believe in the fairy-tale like interpretations given by blinded Rabbis (Rom 11:25), or

listen to the word of Yahweh via Jeremiah, and place this serpent in the place God intended it?

Word Study on Whisper (from hiss)

A study of the word whisper brings up some very interesting results, it seems to appear twice in the Old testament and in all

cases is related to trickery, and soothsayer type activity. Here we have an account from Isaiah that seems to reiterate the

curses of the serpent/hiss/whisper but is speaking about an evil person who is debased, just like one who has a familiar

    spirit:

Isa 29:4 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust,

and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

the second is Psa 41:7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

The word whisper in the Isaiah account is tsphaph meaning to peep (peeping and muttering is what wizards do; see Isa

8:19) and the word for whisper in psalms 41 is lchash which is a primitive root, meaning to whisper; by implication to

    2 of 10

  • mumble a spell (as a magician): charmer, whisper (together).

Therefore, the word nchash was used to represent the subtlety or artful deceptiveness of the human mind, this is also called

the carnal mind (Rom 8:7), producer of lust (James 1:14-15), the will of man (2pet 2:10), the accuser (rev 20:10 1john 3:20),

that wicked one (1john 3:12) and our adversary (James 4:7) &c,. This is likened to a hissing sound or a muttering

prognosticator, except it exists from within. To clarify that this force isnt a fallen angel satan see Mark 7:21 (evil comes

from within); James 1:15 (desire births sin); Gen 8:21 (the imagination of mans heart is evil from his youth); Ezekiel 18:20

(the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.) and (The soul that sinneth, it shall die) et al,.

Word study on nchsh or Hiss translated erroneously as serpent:

    3 of 10

  • From the above definitions, what we find is that the nchash was more crafty than all other living things made, that it spoke

to Eve, and that the character of this voice or whisper was conniving and deceptive. Lets look at what the Greek Septuagint

says about this nchash and see if it brings any further clarification of its correct meaning.

    Serpent/Nacash in the Greek LXX

3789 Ophis snake/serpent (through the idea of sharpness of vision); a snake, figuratively, (as a type of sly cunning) an artful

malicious person. Note: allusions to this snake being satan come from late Jewish pseudepigrapha, and such sources are

corrupt and are purposely not being referenced here.

So we see that the idea of cunning or deception was also associated with this word ophis translated snake by the Greeks. Lets

look at the root of ophis to see where it derives its meaning.

    The root words of Ophis

3700 optnomai (or optomai/optan, likely a later cognate of 3708 /hor) become seen (appear).

    4 of 10

  • This word is used when something appears out of nowhere, and its root is as follows.

3708 hor properly, see, often with metaphorical meaning: "to see with the mind" (i.e. spiritually see), i.e. perceive (with

    inward spiritual perception).

    Definition

    to see with the eyes1.

to see with the mind, to perceive, know2.

to see, i.e. become acquainted with by experience, to experience3.

    to see, to look to

    to take heed, beware1.

to care for, pay heed to2.

    4.

I was seen, showed myself, appeared5.

So taking both the Hebrew and Greek understanding of this word, we have: A whisper that is cunning, associated with the

mind, and that appears out of nowhere but beguiles. Is this not a perfect definition of our sinful conscience? In fact its a

perfect definition! And the most astounding things is that Paul in 2cor 11:3 uses the word Ophis to explain the serpent that

beguiled Eve, with the intention to show that it was her inner sinful conscience that provoked her to sin and nothing else.

Further clarifying evidence showing that ophis was purposely used to represent our sinful minds is that the Bible has over 9

words (in the old testament) for serpent or dragon, but ophis was chosen as the word for snake in the Greek rendition of the

Old Testament (in the Genesis account) granted its outlying connotations to perception and trickery. What follow are the

words for snake in the Old Testament, I found this list on a website where people believed in a reptilian race of aliens

(inspired from faulty biblical exegesis), but the words in the list are correct and from the Bible:

    akshwb a coiled serpent

    livythn sea-monster, serpent or constellation

nchsh a serpent (from its hiss)

srph a burning (poisonous) serpent, seraph

shephyphn a gaping or snapping serpent, adder

    tannh female jackal or dragon

    tannyn dragon, sea-monster, jackal, serpent

tsepha or tsiphny an extruding (thrusting the tongue) snake

    zchal to fear, serpent, worm

Now that were clear about what the serpent is, we will go into a full analysis of what occurred in the garden, beginning with the Nature of

Yahweh and the reason for why Eve ate the fruit.

To Be Like Yahweh, The True Cause of the fall

    "1 Yahweh Elohim created the heavens and the earth in the very beginning. 2 And the earth was without form, and void;

and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim moved upon the face of the water."

The word without form is th meaning desolation or desert, and the word void means empty. Interestingly enough, were

aware that this original earth is covered by a all-encompassing ocean, with its water being called the deep. My question is,

how is it possible for the earth to be called both an void desert as well as a great sea at the same time? The answer must be

that the earth was covered in ice.

"3 And Elohim said, Let there be light; and there was light. 4 And Elohim saw that the light was good; and Elohim

separated the light from the darkness. 5 And Elohim called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.

The entire creation account focuses on the juxtaposition of Yahweh Elohim as being Master controller of both all goodness

and evil. As is explained, the planet earth was covered in deep ice until light was proclaimed (yes this is a new interpretation,

bare with me), which made this ice melt. We know that the earth had to be covered in sheets of ice because there was is no

sun to liquefy the water, and also other planets or moons in our solar system that have traces of water (Jupiters moon Europa

being the example shown below) and are far away from the suns direct heat, are also covered in sheets of ice, and such ice

shifts on top of a liquid sea, thus explaining the Hebrew explanation of the earth in its first stagnant state. This is a scientific

explanation of what the Hebrew has written down.

    5 of 10

  • When Yahweh spoke and said let there be light this light melted

the ice of the world. Yahweh then sent His power towards the earth

and separated the liquid water from the ground, evaporating a lot

of it, thus creating an atmosphere. Yahweh then created the rest of

the universe and left it void and nude as the earth once was. Note:

According to the Scriptures,Earth was made before everything else

(see Gen 1 and 2), and this means that room for a big bang, or

other planets being older then the earth have to kick against the

Mountain of scriptural revelation. As soon as day was crafted it

was titled as good, night with its absence of light was a simple

by-product of day (light) and it was termed less good or evil, which

means dysfunction in the Hebrew mindset. Keep in mind that all

things Yahweh Elohim had created were very good, but within this

very good status existed a hierarchy of good and less good or evil

things. Never the less, His creation was perfect before His eyes.

The Genesis creation account defines both function and dysfunction, good and evil, and shows how Yahweh Elohim was the

    creator and controller of both.

When Adam was created from dust beyond the garden, he was then placed inside the Garden and told to dress and keep it

(tend to it) (Gen 2:15). When Eve enters the picture, the two beings of life (Aramaic word for living beings) form a bond that

is different from the unity Adam held with Yahweh Elohim alone. At this point Yahweh marries them to each other and tell

them who He is. Yahweh can be imagined as saying,

I am Yahweh Your Elohim, the one who made Heaven and Earth and the seas and all that is in them (psa146:6) I

created you from the dust of the earth. You are to live in this garden to keep it and protect it. I form the light

and create darkness, I make peace and create evil I, YAHWEH, do all these things. (Isa 45:7)

Its never stated that Yahweh gave a formal declaration of who He was, but if Eve had known that Yahweh knew both good

and evil, as she had (be as Elohim knowing good and evil), and mankind interacted with Him as personally as was shown, His

attributes and powers would also be clearly known by them also.

When Yahweh made the first law telling Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the trees name

explained what the trees fruits would produce within him. Showing that it was good to make one wise, allowing them to have

the power to be like Yahweh, who formed the world based on His knowledge of both good and evil. But eating the fruit was

also dangerous because it promised death. Many erroneously presume that death didnt exist before the fall, but this is a false

presumption. Humanity alone was promised death, not the rest of creation, this showing that man had the capacity to live

forever, not showing that the creation was already eternal.

Self will enticed Her to choose, no satan enticing anywhere

In time, with Eve knowing that Yahweh knew both function and dysfunction, good and evil, she was pricked in her

conscience to eat from the tree. This free thought, this glimmering enticing whisper of human flesh erroneously called the

serpent it being a necessary by-product of choice (just as the night was a by-product of day), had Eve desirous of the same

attributes her Father had, which was the knowledge of Good and Evil. We can surmise that Eve could have desired to know

both good and evil to make her work in the garden less burdensome (thus the punishment of tilling the ground and eating

from the sweat of the brow), she could have also, more actually eaten the fruit because she thought i ta good idea to be more

like her Father in Heaven (which is a form of self adoration and self empowerment when done beyond Yahwehs express

desire). Based on the entire purpose of the genesis 3 account, its very clear that Eve wished, through disobedience, to

become like God even if it was at the expense of death.

Eves desire to be like God wasnt a sin by itself because every child desires to emulate their parent, and it can be said that

Eves desires could have even come from a naive and innocent place, this naivety explaining why Yahweh Elohim shows

such long suffering to the sinfulness of mankind; because our first sin was to be more like Him (though scripture says that

God endures the sinful men for the sake of His elect). This gives us much reason to understand why Yahweh and even our

Messiah has shown humanity such toleration even apart from our continuous rebellion! Eve sinned because she wanted to be

more like the one she adored, her magnificent God.

  • The Correct Account of the Fall

Gen 3:1 Now the nchash [which is the enchanting whisper, which is the fleshly conscious, the source of human

lust and sin] was more artful than any life of the ground which Yahweh Elohim had made. And the whisper said

unto the woman [or in other words the woman asked herself], Yea, hath Yahweh said, Ye shall not eat of every

tree of the garden? 2And the woman said unto the whisper [or mentally answered back to herself], We may eat

of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Yahweh

hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4And the whisper said unto the woman, Ye

shall not surely die: 5For Yahweh doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and

ye shall be as Elohim (Yahweh), knowing good and evil.

This account highlights the first struggle of man against his conscience. We see that the woman is having an

inward debate with herself, and like Christ in the desert, she uses the Word of God against her own inward sinful

desire, but unlike the Messiah, she caves into her curiosities and breaks Yahwehs law.

6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food [which is the lust of the flesh], and that it was

pleasant to the eyes [lust of the eye], and a tree to be desired to make one wise [the pride of life], she took of the

fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7And the eyes of them both

were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together [from a fig tree not the

tree of the knowledge of good and evil], and made themselves belts.

    According to 1st

John, Eve became overcome by all that was in the world, and traded in her love for Yahweh

Elohim, in exchange for the temporal empowerment and pleasures of this life; which resulted in her death, as it

does ours also by the same means today. (1John 2:15-17)

The thought to eat from the tree seized Eve out of nowhere, and this situation resembles a little unattended child

who is told not to drink from the cleaning solution under the sink, but does so anyway because she thinks herself

wiser than her fathers advice, and believes that the poison is actually the same juice that her Dad always drinks.

8And they heard Yahweh Elohim calling them in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid

themselves from the Face of Yahweh Elohim [Who was Yahshua pre-incarnate (Exodus 33:20) No one can see

the face of God and live.] amongst the trees of the garden. 9And Yahweh Elohim [the Messiah] called unto

Adam, and said unto him, Where are you? 10And he said, I heard you calling in the garden, and I was afraid,

because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11And He said, who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of

the tree, whereof I commanded you not to eat? 12And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me,

she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13And Yahweh Elohim said to the woman, what is this that you have

done? And the woman said, the whisper beguiled me, and I did eat.

"14 And Yahweh Elohim said to the womans conscience [the whisper], Because you have done this thing,

cursed are you above all mute beasts, and above every living thing of the ground; on your belly shall you go, and

dust shall you eat all the days of your life [This is a Hebraism meaning, in shame shall you exist and in subjection

and defeat will you forever remain] (Psalm 44:24-26; Psalm 72:9; Isai 49:23; Micha 7:17;)]; 15 And I will put

hostility between you and the woman, and between your posterity [the children of disobedience] and her

posterity [the Children of light]; her posterity shall tread your head under foot, and you shall strike him in his

heel. [This is an allusion to the Messiahs defeat of sin via His death (Heb 2:14 and 1john 3:5)]

We have some very interesting points here, we see that the Womans conscience is cursed and this means that

Adams was as well (because they were one flesh), this explains why our carnal mind, or the flesh is so debased

and at enmity with God (Rom 8:7). This account also shows that women would have a certain hatred or struggle

against their own conscience, and this we see in their overtly worrying nature (agree or disagree is something

that all men dont naturally have).

When Eve saw that the tree was good for food (indicating that she hadnt gone near it up until that point, and

that her curiosity acted instantly, all at once, and was not something planned over a premeditated period of

time), she considered its promised abilities (which alludes to works based theology, and get holy quick schemes)

then ate the fruit (so she could be like her Father, via disobedience and following her own instincts over

Yahwehs directions). At this point more than one sin is viewed, first we have disobedience and rebellion: she

    7 of 10

  • disobeyed Yahweh and did what she wanted opposed to listening to His Word. Secondly, we see that she lacked

belief in Yahwehs meting out punishment, or she disbelieved the integrity of His truth. Thirdly, we see that she

desired to be a god on her own accord which is idolatry. So the sins of rebellion, mistrust, self-reliance,

self-empowerment and idolatry were the fruits produced by her heart. Once she gained wisdom she realized that

her nakedness was shameful (possibly due to the new awareness of unclean bodily functions) and wanted to hide

her unclean state from Yahweh Elohim.

    Why Adam Ate

Eve approached Adam with the positive intent to also make Adam more like the Most high. Adam also ate under the

pretence that it would make him more like Yahweh, and this explains why he ate it at all. Once they both had understanding,

they formed a confederacy against God and hide due to shame. With the eating of the fruit they in a true sense became the

gods of this world being sub-masters under Yahweh, over all creatures including their own selves which made them

subject to death. The god of this world alluded to in (2cor 4:4) is seen to be the ignorance and sinfulness of the human mind

that runs rampant everywhere today, this is the only force that guides the children of disobedience.

Once Yahwehs voice was heard calling them through the garden, He questioned Adam about his sneaky conduct, and Adam

gave unjust answers which started the delivery of the punishments. We know that Yahweh is a Just and equal distributor of

justice, so based on Adams punishments, we see that his desire to be independent from Yahweh Elohim was reward by his

having to till the ground for his food (lifelong). Since the woman trusted her conscience, she was judged to always be at odds

against it. Since the conscience of both had moved them to make their poor decisions, it was placed in a position of

inferiority within them becoming subject (licking up dust) to the other decision making faculties of the mind, (this is why we

can control being enticed and choose contrary to our inward choices and desires). Man may have once been governed by his

instinct, it being something more akin to the innocence found in animals. But once this instinct was used to make mankind

rebel (Which Yahweh Elohim knew it would, but entrusted them with choice anyway), it became less prominent and was

now subjected to the higher faculties of wisdom which now reigned in them via eating the fruit.

    Why Death Reigns

Since man was now a god or judge, one that was almost completely separated from Yahweh because of his sinful state, the

promise of what Eve tried to attain on her own (which was Holiness and likeness to Yahweh) was granted through future

obedience to the Messiah. Since Adam was now a god he became subject to his own destiny, and death now had the right

to reign over him, this is because he was a material being subject to the results of having control over a mortal existence.

Death also reigned because sin against the Omnipotent God must be punished by death. This death would also be swallowed

up by the coming of the Spirit birthed Messiah, Him bringing in a promised time when mankind would think themselves no

longer pseudo-material gods apart from Yahweh Elohim, but the children of Yahweh, who faithfully and obediently live in

    subjection to his eternal law.

All glory be to Yahweh Elohim, in Yahshua the eternal Messiah.
