PSAT/NMSQT Quick Reference for Students and Parents
The PSAT at Basha High School costs $20.00, covering the exam, official guide, and administration fees. Due to limited resources, only 425 students may test.
• As a “Preliminary SAT test”, the PSAT is a good predictor of performance on the SAT Test required by many colleges and universities.
• Students will receive the 2016 Official Student Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT along with this quick reference sheet in the bookstore at the time of registration.
o Page 5 highlights important test regulations. o Useful test preparation tips and sample test questions begin on page 9. o Calculator use and stipulations may be found on page 23. o A full-length practice PSAT/NMSQT Test is included in the Guide.
• The PSAT will be administered at Basha High School on Wednesday, November 2. Room assignments will be posted outside the guidance office. Please find your room and proceed there immediately.
• For test security purposes, students must present a picture ID to gain entrance to the test site. Please report to your classroom no later than 7:25 am. Latecomers and students without picture identification will forfeit their registration fee and will not be allowed to take the test.
• Students are not allowed to bring personal belongings into the test room. The only items allowed will be:
o Car keys o An approved calculator o #2 pencils and eraser (cannot use
mechanical pencils) o Picture ID
Please leave everything else at home! NO CELL PHONES IN THE TEST ROOM!
• Any student who disrupts the testing procedure will be removed from the testing room and will forfeit his or her test score and registration fee.
• The test will take several hours and should be completed around 10:30 to 11:00 am.
• Students should get their scores in December.

PROHIBITED CALCULATORS:
• Laptops or other computers, tablets, cellphones, smartwatches, or smartphones
• Models that can access the Internet or have wireless, Bluetooth, cellular, audio/video recording and playing, camera, or any other smartphone-type feature
• Models that have a typewriter-like keypad, pen-input or stylus
• Models that use electrical outlets, make noise, or have paper tape
