Lutheran Church of the Incarnation Sunday of the Passion Palm Sunday Service of Holy Communion Welcome to worship at Incarnation Lutheran Church! As we gather in this hour of worship in the very presence of our Lord, we invite you to join with us in singing the liturgy and the hymns, to listen to the words of the proclamation of the gospel through the sermon, and to receive the forgiveness of sin and strength to serve others through the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Children are welcome! We believe they enhance the gathering of the Kingdom of God for us; however, if you would feel more comfortable, a nursery is provided in the CDC building if needed. We encourage parents to teach your children how to worship by helping them follow the order of worship in the bulletin. We ask that all electronic devices be silenced during this time of worship. This is to allow you and all to worship reverently. Again, welcome to worship! GATHERING We gather in the garden, so that all may enter in procession. Palms and Sunday of the Passion booklets are distributed before the service begins. SUNDAY OF THE PASSION The assembly follows the ministers into the church. When most worshipers are inside, we begin to sing All Glory, Laud and Honor (pp.3 of the Passion booklet). Children and adults scatter colored paper and palms as they process to their seats. PRAYER OF THE DAY Found on the insert CHILDREN’S TIME ALL AGES of children are invited to come to the altar steps for conversation and bucket offering. OFFERTORY God Loved the World ELW 323 (Verses 1 and 2)

OFFERING PRAYER Generous God,you feed us with the harvest of the land, and you provide for our every need.Receive our gifts of money, imagination, and labor, and transform them into a feast that welcomes all,in Jesus Christ, our host and our guest.Amen.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVINGThe Lord be with you.And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.It is right to give our thanks and praise.

PREFACE It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times and in all placesgive thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God,through our Savior Jesus Christ, whose suffering and death gave salvation to all.You gather your people around the tree of the cross, transforming death into life. And so, with all the choirs of angels, with the church on earth and the hosts of heaven,we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

LORD’S PRAYEROur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread;and forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive thosewho trespass against us;and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. INVITATION TO COMMUNIONChrist has prepared the feast.Come to the table where all are welcomed home.

COMMUNIONAll are welcome to join in communion, trusting that Christ promises to be truly present. Whole wheat communion bread is served. Gluten-free wafers are available upon request. Red communion wine is served: the first cup is a common cup (for drinking from) and the second cup is for intinction (dipping the bread). Those unable to partake of both elements are assured that the Church affirms our Lord’s full presence in, with, and under each element alone. Those who choose not to receive Communion are welcome to come forward for a blessing.

When giving the bread and cup, the communion ministers say:The body of Christ, given for you. The blood of Christ, shed for you. Amen.
