THE MASTER STORYTELLER In today’s Gospel, Jesus is presented to us as the master storyteller. He loved to use parables as a tool for comparing one thing to some-thing else. In most of his parables, Jesus revealed who God is by com-paring God’s essence or actions with something familiar to his listen-ers. In the parable of the mustard seed, Jesus proclaims a marvelous and irrefutable truth. His small band of disciples, as insignificant as they may have felt, would one day produce a mighty kingdom whose growth was initiated by God. The seeds of this kingdom were planted by God and it is God who will harvest the fruit brought forth from those seeds. The extent of the growth of God’s kingdom cannot be predicted. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The reign of God comes about because people commit to reversing their lives completely, to embracing new vision, new values. Many popular television shows exploit an unattractive side of human nature by pitting contestants against one another, even to the point of performing dangerous stunts or devious schemes, to gain money or favor. At the liturgy, we counter that impulse by committing ourselves to live generously. In response to Christ’s total gift, we offer bread and wine as the emblems of our lives, our hopes, our joys and sorrows. The bread and wine carried to the altar contain our lives, and by offering our lives to God, we prepare to receive the gift of God’s own life. We are to become what we receive: the body of Christ. On Sundays, this self‑giving is often accompanied by a collection and procession of gifts for the poor and money for the upkeep of the parish. There are certainly other methods of collecting money, some perhaps more efficient. News from the Catechetical Office The Catechetical Office will be closed as of June 18th and it will reopen in August as religious education classes have ended for the year. Registration for new and returning students in Vietnamese will begin June 12 Registration for new and returning stu-dents in English and Spanish will begin late August and will continue until the end of September. Specific information on the dates and times for registration will be announced at mass and in the bulletin in August. Religious education classes in English, Spanish and Viet-namese will resume in September.

UN EXCELENTE CUENTISTA En el Evangelio de hoy, se nos presenta a Jesús como un excelente cuentista. A él le gustaba contar parábolas como una forma para comparar esto de aquello. En mu-chas de las parábolas, Jesús revela quien es Dios al com-parar la naturaleza o acciones de Dios con alguna situa-ción conocida de su audiencia. En la parábola de la semi-lla de mostaza, Jesús proclama una verdad maravillosa e irrefutable. Su pequeño grupo de discípulos, tan in-significantes como ellos se hubieran sentido, un día producirán un reinado poderoso cuyo crecimiento lo comen-zó Dios. Las semillas de este reino fueron plantadas por Dios y es Dios quien cosechará el fruto producido por esas semillas. No se puede prede-cir que tanto crecerá el Reino de Dios. CHÚA NHẬT 11 THƯỜNG NIÊN. B (Mc 4, 26-34)

Nước Trời ví như hạt giống được gieo vào lòng đất và từ từ phát triển. Nước Trời có một sức sống mãnh liệt từ bên trong. Chính Chúa là nguồn phát sinh sự sống đã thiết lập Nước Trời dưới thế gian. Ngài trao ban nguồn sinh lực qua Lời của Ngài và qua ân sủng của các Bí Tích để Nuớc Trời phát triển không ngừng. Sự sống của Nước Trời chính là nguồn ơn sủng của Chúa Thánh Thần. Sự sống phát sinh ra sự sống. Sự sống là một mầu nhiệm. Chúng ta chỉ học biết được sự kết cấu và điều kiện để sự sống được hiên hữu. Sự sống bắt nguồn từ Thiên Chúa. Chúa đã phú ban mầm sống trong tất cả các loài thụ tạo từ loài thực vật, qua động vật tới con người. Từ mầm sống đầu tiên đó, các loài thụ tạo tiếp tục phát triển qua các giai đoạn và truyền sinh sự sống. Không có loài nào tự sinh mà không do quyền năng của Thiên Chúa. Một hạt giống dù nhỏ bé thế nào đi nữa, Thiên Chúa đã ban cho nó một nội lực để phát triển. Mỗi loại tùy theo giống của nó. Chúng ta thấy sự phát triển của các mầm sống nhưng chúng ta không hiểu về chính sự sống. Sự sống đưa dẫn chúng ta về nguồn, chính là Thiên Chúa. Một hạt giống được gieo xuống đất và gặp đúng môi trường sẽ mọc lên. Con người dù thức hay ngủ, đêm hay ngày, hạt giống cứ tự động đâm chồi nẩy lộc rồi thành cây, đơm bông và kết hạt. Nó phát triển nội tại, ngoài sự tính toán của con người. Từ hạt cải bé nhỏ, Chúa dẫn chúng ta đến hạt giống Nước Trời. Hạt giống của Nước Trời được tung gieo khắp nơi. Bắt đầu từ một nhóm nhỏ dần dần phát sinh và lan tràn. Với sự hướng dẫn và thúc đẩy của Chúa Thánh Thần, rất nhiều người đã ra đi gieo tin mừng. Hạt giống tung gieo mọi nơi mọi miền từ Đông sang Tây, từ Bắc xuống Nam, từ Âu sang Á, nơi đâu cũng được tiếp nhận hạt giống. Có nơi những hạt giống tự do phát triển và đạt thành kết qủa tốt. Cũng có nơi hạt giống không thể nẩy sinh vì hạn hán, vì mảnh đất cằn cỗi và vì sự bách hại hay từ chối. Chúa trao ban hạt giống dư tràn. Hạt giống tươi tốt và đầy sinh lực. Mỗi ngày, các hạt giống đang chờ đợi được tung gieo. Hạt giống nào cũng có khả năng đâm mầm và sinh hoa kết qủa. Chúa đang cần nhiều thợ chuyên môn ra đi gieo giống. Chúa mời gọi mọi thành viên trong nước Chúa tiếp tục sứ mệnh truyền rao tin mừng cho khắp muôn dân. Tin mừng Nước Trời giống như sự sống cần tiếp tục ban phát, nẩy sinh và đem lại hoa trái. Ai cũng khởi sự Chỉ thánh mới đi đến cùng. 52. Đừng nói "mất hứng rồi". Con làm vì hứng sao? Việc Chúa đâu phải làm thơ. Làm vì yêu mến và con biết không bao giờ "mất yêu mến Chúa" cả. 53. Người trộm lành đã hạnh phúc vì hy vọng ở tình yêu Chúa, Giuđa đã khốn nạn vì thất vọng. 54. Giờ phút chán nản nhứt, thất vọng nhứt của Chúa Giêsu: "lạy Cha, sao Cha bỏ con!" Có Đức Mẹ đứng bên Thánh giá, Mẹ thinh lặng nhưng tình thương Mẹ đủ nâng đỡ Con cho đến lúc nói: "Đã hoàn tất." 55. Con trai bà góa thành Naim chết được khiêng đi chôn, Laz-arô chết thối trong mồ, Chúa còn gọi chỗi dậy được. Con hãy hy vọng và khiêm tốn hối cải. Chúa sẽ cho con sống lại. 56. Mỗi ngày con phải bớt tự ái mà thêm bác ái. Mỗi ngày hãy bớt tự tin mà thêm tin Chúa. 57. Nếu con không quyết tâm bền chí, đừng nói: "tôi hiền", phải nói: "tôi hèn". 58. Con cứ than thở: tôi mà được ở chỗ này, được công tác với người kia, được nắm chức vụ nọ, chắc tôi thành công rực rỡ. Làm việc Chúa giao cho, con ở nơi Chúa đặt con, đi thẳng. Chạy lăng xăng không đến đích. 59. trong tâm hồn con, có hai con người: Gioan và Giuđa. Bao lâu con còn bền chí phấn đấu, là dấu con theo Gioan trung thành; giờ phút nào con hèn nhát đầu hàng, con chọn Giuđa làm quan thầy và thắp hương tôn thờ "quan thầy phản bội" ấy. 60. Con bảo: "Khổ". Đúng vậy. Thương khó, bỏ dễ. Khó mới quí, bỏ là quỉ.
