This unique workshop will take you through the prevention, evaluation, on-field management, treatment and rehabilitation of sports-related spinal injuries. An update on sports-related concussions will be provided as well.

Speaker BiographicalInformation

Robert Greenleaf, MD (moderator) Dr. Greenleaf is a fellowship trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at Reconstructive Orthopedics, with offices throughout

southern New Jersey. He obtained a degree in Biology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he was also a First Team All-Ivy League and Honorable Mention National All-American in wrestling and later completed his Fellowship training in Spine Surgery at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Greenleaf has performed research, authored textbook chapters, and presented at national meetings on traumatic spinal injuries. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the North American Spine Society, and AO Spine.

Brad Bernardini, MD Dr. Brad Bernardini is a double Board Certi-

fied Orthopedic and Sports Medicine surgeon with Reconstructive Orthopedics in southern New Jersey. Dr. Bernardini specializes in arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery with

an emphasis on minimally invasive joint reconstruction in both adults and children. He has been honored as an Associ-ate Master Instructor by the Arthroscopy Association of North America. In addition, Dr. Bernardini is a member of the US Ski Team Physician Pool Program and is a USA Triathlon Certified Level 1 Coach. He also serves as the head team physician for the Delsea Regional High School football team as well as the Medical Director for the Virtua Center for Sports Medicine in Washington Township. As an under-graduate athlete, Dr. Bernardini was a GTE Academic All-American wide receiver and kick returner at Bucknell University. He was a two times Track & Field Team Captain and Patriot League 60 meter dash Champion.

Kevin Briles, A.T.,C., CSCS, EMT-B

Kevin Briles has served as District Athletic Trainer and Assistant to the Athletic Direc-tor at the Delsea Regional School District

since 2004. Previously, he served as Director of Athletic Training Services for Kessler Memorial Hospital for six years. Along with his duties at Delsea, Briles has served as an athletic trainer for the New Jersey State Interscholas-tic Athletic Association championships in swimming, indoor and outdoor track, and wrestling at the District, Region, and State tournament levels. In addition to his secondary school responsibilities, he is currently on staff at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and serves as an adjunct clinical instructor /preceptor at Rowan University.

Within the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey, Briles

currently serves as the Southern Region Representative, Advisor to the Student Committee, and sits on the Second-ary Schools Committee. Briles, the recipient of Gettysburg College’s Romeo Capozzi Award, the 2002 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s Athletic Training Service Award, and the 2010 Gloucester County Police Chiefs Association's Civilian Service Award, has been prac-ticing athletic training for 17 years.

Casey Christy, MA, ATC, CSCS Casey Christy, MA, ATC, CSCS has been the head athletic trainer at Eastern High School in Voorhees, NJ since 1994. He has made numerous presentations on a local and regional level on topics such as ACL injury

prevention, public relations techniques and concussion management, and has authored the concussion chapter in Sports Emergency Care, 2nd ed. Casey has served the Athletic Trainers’ Society of NJ (ATSNJ) in several capacities, including president from 2005-07. He received the ATSNJ Distinguished Service Award in 2008 was elected into the ATSNJ Hall Of Fame in 2009. Casey is also an adjunct instructor in the Athletic Training Education Program at Rowan University and currently serves on the medical advisory committee for the Adam Taliaferro Foundation.

R. Robert Franks, DO, FAOASR. Roberts Franks is the Medical Director at Jefferson Comprehensive Concussion Center, Philadelphia, PA. He has also served as Director, Concussion Program, Rothman Institute, Philadelphia, and as Clinical

Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. Other service has included Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Family Medicine at Rowan SOM, Stratford, NJ, and RWJMS, New Brunswick, NJ; Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at RWJMS, New Brunswick; Consulting Physician, Philadelphia Phillies; Team Physician, USA Wrestling; and Consulting Physicians atr Delran, Triton, Highland and Timber Creek high schools in New Jersey.

Eric Nussbaum, MEd, ATCEric Nussbaum, MEd, ATC, is the head Athletic Trainer at Colts Neck High School in Colts Neck, NJ. He has experience on all levels of sports with a special research interest in high ankle sprains. Eric has presented at

numerous local, regional and national meetings and is a past president of the Athletic Trainers Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ). He has written extensively for various publications, including Training & Conditioning, and gave a presentation on ankle sprains at the 2011 NATA Convention. He earned his Bachelors of Science from Millersville University in Millersville, PA, in 1985.
