Preventive and curative recomendations

• Vaccines not available• Isolation of boars and regular checks of semen

and serum• Isolation of gilts before introduction into herd• Introduction of gilts after ca. 2 month post

delivery from fattening unit• Use of disposable needles for sows and piglets

Interesting point

Since 1999 production is not affected by PRRS. Vaccines were never introduced into this herd. Serological tests were made every 3 month at the beginning, later twice a year, now sometimes.Biosecurity is a main concern.
