The past year has been exciting and rewarding. Among the highlights, we have
launched a number of initiatives, that I am sure are helping to bring new life to
the Province and to Freemasonry in Oxfordshire in general. I look forward to
welcoming you all warmly to your Provincial meeting and joining you over lunch
to celebrate your appointments and promotions, as well as the events of the year
and to look to the future with renewed enthusiasm and vigour.

Dear Sir and Brother,
I am required to summon you to attend the Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge,
which this year will be held in: “The Quadrangle Suite” within the The Kassam
Stadium, Grenoble Road, Oxford, OX4 4XP on Wednesday the 7th of October 2015,
for the purpose of transacting the business of the Province as set forth in the Agenda
Paper. The Provincial Grand Lodge will be opened at 11 am punctually.
By permission of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, all Master Masons are
invited to be present (though they cannot vote in the proceedings of Provincial Grand
Lodge), and having signed the appropriate attendance paper, are requested to take their
seats before 10.45 am. Brethren being invested have reserved seats and are requested to
take their places by 10.30am to receive instructions from the Provincial Grand Director of
Ceremonies. Provincial Grand Officers of the year are solely responsible for the safe
return of their Provincial Jewel to the Provincial Grand Secretary, The Shambles,
Church Street, Twyford, Near Buckingham MK18 4EU, by Monday the 14th
of
September 2015.
The Meeting will be followed by lunch at 1.30pm. Brethren wishing to attend the lunch
must return the accompanying form, together with their dining fee, of £29.00 (cheques
payable to Provincial Grand Lodge of Oxfordshire) to: Bernd Wegerhoff, Provincial
Assistant Grand Secretary, 48 Neithrop Avenue, Banbury, Oxon. OX16 2NG to reach
him, at the latest, by Saturday the 19th of September. Regrettably bookings cannot be
accepted by any other means.
There is parking for some 2000 cars, including designated disabled parking at the venue.

8. The Provincial Grand Secretary will make his report.
9. The Provincial Grand Treasurer will present the accounts for 2014/15
10. The Provincial Grand Treasurer will be elected: W.Bro. G. Singh (Cadogan Lodge
No 8965) has been nominated for election.
11. The Provincial Grand Almoner will present his report.
12. The Provincial Grand Charity Steward will will present his report.
13. To authorise the Provincial Grand Master to nominate Brethren to fill vacancies on
the Committees of the Masonic Institutions, Committees of Grand Lodge and the
Committee of the Grand Charity as and when they occur.
14. To elect three Brethren to audit the accounts of Provincial Grand Lodge.
15. The Provincial Grand Officers will be appointed and invested.
16. The Provincial Grand Master will address Provincial Grand Lodge.
17. To collect Alms.
18. Any other business deemed necessary will be brought forward.
19. The Provincial Grand Lodge will be closed.

Abstract of Minutes of Meeting held 1st October 2014
A meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Oxfordshire was held at the Kassam Stadium on Wednesday the 1st of
October 2014 at 4.30 p.m. There were present: RW.Bro. James Robert Guy Hilditch, Provincial Grand Master,
W.Bro. Neal Clive Spencer, Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Alan Peter Knowles, Assistant Provincial
Grand Master, 21 active Provincial Grand Officers of the year, together with 10 Right Worshipful and 8 Very
Worshipful Brethren, 43 Grand Officers and Distinguished Guests and 157 Past Provincial Grand Officers,
Reigning Masters, Past Masters, Brethren and Guests, giving a total of 242. Apologies were received from 68
Brethren.
The Provincial Grand Lodge was opened in due form and with solemn prayer.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master was saluted with seven; the Deputy Provincial Grand Master and the Assistant
Provincial Grand Master were each saluted according to their rank with five.
The distinguished guests were introduced by the RW. Provincial Grand Master and warmly welcomed by the
Brethren.
The Brethren were called to order and The Right Worshipful Brethren were saluted with seven; the Very
Worshipful Brethren with five and the other Grand Officers present were saluted in turn according to their rank.
RW.Bro. Russell Race, Metropolitan Grand Master, V.W.Bro. Rodney Staines PDPrGM, PGSwdB and W.Bro.
Phillip Purves. PDepGDC, thanked the Brethren and greeted them well.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master called upon the Provincial Grand Secretary for the Minutes of the Annual
Provincial Grand Lodge of 2nd
October 2013. The PrGSec replied that those minutes had been circulated to every
member of the Province in the order paper for the meeting and were in the Provincial yearbook published that day.
W.Bro. Stephen Quant, Provincial Senior Grand Warden, proposed that, as those minutes had been so circulated
and published, they be adopted, which W.Bro. Graham Turner, Provincial Junior Grand Warden, seconded. The
Brethren approved their adoption.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master called upon the Provincial Grand Secretary, to read the year’s Obituary Roll.
Following which, the Brethren were called to order by W.Bro Alan Baverstock, Provincial Grand Director of
Ceremonies, whilst the Provincial Grand Chaplain, W.Bro. Phillip Purves delivered the solemn prayer.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master called upon the Provincial Grand Registrar, W.Bro. Thomas J. Byrne to call the
Roll of Lodges in the Province following which, he reported that all Lodges were well represented.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master again called upon the Provincial Grand Registrar to call the Roll of Provincial
Grand Officers for the year all of whom were accounted for, an apology having been received from W.Bro. Adrian
Barlow, Provincial Grand Sword Bearer.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master called upon the Provincial Grand Secretary for his report. W.Bro. Anthony R.
Taylor stated his report had been circulated to every member of the Province in the order paper for the meeting and
was published in the Provincial yearbook.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master called upon the Provincial Grand Treasurer to present his Accounts for
2013/2014. W.Bro. Norman Sawyer, stated that his report had been circulated to every member of the Province in
the order paper for the meeting and was published in the Provincial yearbook.
The Provincial Senior Grand Warden stated that as those accounts had been so circulated and published, he
proposed their adoption. The Provincial Junior Grand Warden seconded that proposal, which was approved by the
Brethren and a vote of thanks was tendered to the Provincial Grand Treasurer.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master again called upon the Provincial Grand Treasurer, who in accordance with By-
Law 8 of the Province of Oxfordshire By-Laws, announced that the subscription for the year 2015 (payable in
arrears on 31st December, 2015) shall remain at £12.00.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master reported that as only one nomination had been received; W.Bro. Norman C.
Sawyer, PAGDC, was therefore elected Provincial Grand Treasurer for the ensuing year.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master called upon W.Bro. Alan Peates, the Provincial Grand Almoner, to present his
report. W.Bro. Alan Peates stated that the Almoner’s report had been circulated to every member of the Province in
the order paper for the meeting and was published in the Provincial yearbook.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master called upon W.Bro. Roger Hampshire, the Provincial Grand Charity Steward, to
present his report. W.Bro. Roger Hampshire stated that it too had been circulated to every member of the Province
in the order paper for the meeting and was published in the Provincial Year Book.
The Provincial Senior Grand Warden proposed that the R.W. Provincial Grand Master be authorised to nominate
Brethren to fill vacancies on the Committees of the Masonic Institutions, Committees of Grand Lodge and the
Committee of the Grand Charity, as and when they occur. The Provincial Junior Grand Warden seconded the
proposal and it was approved by the Brethren.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master called upon the Provincial Senior Grand Warden, who proposed that, W. Bro.
Jonathan M. Russell PPrAGDC, Bro. Edward P. Parker and Bro. Keith R. Smith be elected to examine the accounts
for Provincial Grand Lodge. This was seconded by the Provincial Junior Grand Warden and approved by the
Brethren.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master then called upon the Provincial Grand Secretary to read the Patent for W.Bro
Neal Clive Spencer as Deputy Provincial Grand Master, as time constraints at the September Installation Meeting
had prohibited the reading. The Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies presented the Deputy Provincial Grand
Master to receive the Patent.
The Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies escorted the Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro Mark
Kenneth Harwood to the RW. Provincial Grand Master, who presented him with his collarette and thanked him for
his work as Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master in Charge.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master then called upon the Provincial Grand Secretary to read the Patent for W.Bro
Alan Peter Knowles as Assistant Provincial Grand Master. The Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies presented
the Assistant Provincial Grand Master to receive the Patent.
The Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies escorted the Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro David
James Laidlaw to the RW. Provincial Grand Master, who presented him with his collarette and thanked him for his
work as Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master then appointed as his Senior and Junior Wardens W.Bro. Michael F. Hollis and
W.Bro. David J. Carpenter respectively, they were afterwards escorted to their chairs by the Provincial Grand
Director of Ceremonies.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master then appointed or reappointed, as applicable, his Provincial Grand Officers for
the year. Brethren who were to receive Promotions In Past Rank (including under Rule 69a), First Appointments to
Past Rank, all as in the order paper for the day and in the Provincial yearbook, were presented to the Provincial
Grand Master.
The RW. Provincial Grand Master then addressed the Brethren. A full copy of his Address is attached and will be
published in the 2015/2016 Provincial Year Book. The Brethren responded with spontaneous applause in support
and appreciation for the RW. Provincial Grand Master.
Alms were collected and totalled £1,190.30. There was an additional £903.20 alms collection made at the
Provincial Grand Master’s Installation, the total collected between the two meetings amounting to £2,093.50.
There being no further Masonic business, the Lodge was closed in due form with solemn prayer.
Members of the Clavis Lodge No. 8585 rang a peal to the Province on hand bells. The Provincial Director of
Ceremonies then called the Brethren to order for the National Anthem before the retiring procession was formed
and paraded from the Hall.
At the subsequent dinner in the Quadrangle Suite, 177 Brethren dined.
