Association No. A0034488G
May 2009
Volume 1, Issue 2
To all Timberwolves parents and
players, what a fantastic finish to the
summer 2008-2009 season. With at
least half of our 20 teams working
their way into the finals, it was great
to see the Timberwolves colours
flooding the courts as the end of
season approached. Congratulations
to all players and coaches for their
efforts, particularly all of our grand
final winners.
We followed our great season with
the Timberwolves try-out and
presentation evening and had a
huge turn out from our U8 –U14
teams who showed up to support
each other’s efforts. Try-outs ran
smoothly as all players took to the
court to participate in their age
group run sessions. This ensured
everyone was put into suitable
teams for the upcoming season
based equally on friendships and
player skill levels.
A big thank you must also go to all
team managers and parents for
helping to organise such a great first
fundraising effort at such late notice.
Of the money collected from the
sausage sizzle and the raffle hamper,
we were able to raise a total of $565
which is a fantastic amount for the
club’s first effort. The money raised
will help go towards signage and
advertising to be placed around
Waverley Stadium, so we can look
forward to the blue and yellow
colours becoming much more
prominent in the coming months.
Timberwolves members will also be
able to look forward to the club
introducing new programs for
players and coaches, uniforms,
signage and much more as the year
progresses.
At the present time, all players
should know which teams they are
allocated to, and who their coaches
are. The committee has done its best
to keep everyone happy but should
you have any serious concerns about
a team please don’t hesitate to
contact us via the website.

Wolves take on new sponsors
With an ever expanding club and
the need for new equipment,
advertising and programs to
educate our junior coaches, it is a
much easier job to address each
of the above tasks when a
sponsor is in the picture.
Fortunately for us it is with great
pleasure that I announce
Timberwolves’ newest addition
to the club, All City Bathrooms &
Kitchens in East Malvern, who
have jumped on board as our
new sponsor.
Sponsorship is an valuable way
for our club to raise money;
therefore it is important that
everyone within Timberwolves
including parents, coaches and
players get involved in
supporting our new sponsor and
attracting other sponsors to the
club.

great new sponsor please visit

As previously noted in the last
newsletter, I stressed the
importance of all teams having a
team manager for their teams.
We have had some volunteers
for a number of teams but are
still yet to fill all positions for the
up-coming season. If you would
like to be a team manager, or
require more information on
what is required, please send us
an email and we will be more
than happy to assist with

For Timberwolves, this includes
all team managers, coaches and
committee members.

Timberwolves spirit soars thanks to new committee
organizing its teams, its players
and its coaches through a much
more comprehensive
communication approach with the
new website and the new
newsletter.
The selection of teams has also
become a much more detailed
process than in the past through
the new procedure of try-outs and
a coaching committee putting
players into teams based on their
abilities, whilst trying to keep
players together in friendship
groups - always a difficult task.

Fundraising has been successful
thanks to the committee
members’ efforts to organize an
Easter raffle and sausage sizzle at
such late notice, and the club has
successfully taken on board a
new sponsor in All City Kitchens

great positive influence on the
club.
All in all, the club spirit has
increased tremendously and I

Just a few small quick notes and
reminders as we kick off into
the winter season…
Firstly and most importantly, if
you have not yet paid your fees
for this season can you please
do so as soon as possible. If you
have not paid and for some
reason are un-able to get this to
us right away, you need to let
our treasurer Adrian Smith
know immediately or your
child will not be permitted to
play games until this is done.
Fees are not only important to
the club itself but if you have
not paid your fees then you are
not legally registered with
Waverley Basketball
Association. In the worst case
scenario, should your child
suffer a serious injury on the
court and need surgery or an
not have one yet. It is important
all teams have a team manger or
even two if it makes the job
easier, to assist the coach in
organising the team on game
day.
The following teams are still
without a team manager, so if
your child plays in one the
teams listed and you would like
to volunteer please let us know.
• U10 Blades
• U12 Turbos
• U12 Shedevils
• U14 Hustlers
• U14 Rogues
• U16 Chargers
• U16 Rangers
• U18 Titans
