VIRGINIA BEACH VA VETERAN’S DAY PARADE

The Southside Hampton Roads National Sojourners were co-Sponsors for this year’s Virginia Beach VA Veterans Day Parade. The Sponsor of the annual parade is the Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations (HRCVO). The Virginia Beach Veterans Day parade is one of only fifty one (51) sites sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the only one in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Bro. Floyd Gilbert PNP, LOH was the Co-Marshall for the parade. I had the distinct honor of being the Chaplain for both the formal ceremony following the parade and the subsequent Luncheon/Banquet.

The parade had one hundred and five (105) units and lasted over two hours. Notably two of the units had approxi-mately five hundred (500) marchers each. These were the Tidewater Council of Girl Scouts and the Tidewater Council of Boy Scouts. It was very heartwarming being on the review-ing stand and watching over one thousand scouts pass by. They are our future.

At the Luncheon/Banquet Bro. Floyd Gilbert was presented with a “Quilt of Valor”. After the Co-Marshall address, I was pleased and humbled to accept, on behalf of National So-journers, a copy of the “Proclamation” for the day signed by the five Southside City Mayors. NatioNal Secretary’S NoteSI hope everyone had a great holiday no matter which one you observe. In today’s

diverse society it is important to recognize that although we hold our beliefs as dear, we must recognize that there brothers among us who as Master Masons believe in a Su-preme Being but may not see that Being quite the same way we do, and we respect that. Now it is on to the Mid-Winter meeting. For some that may mean an escape to a warmer climate than we are experiencing at our homes. In any case there is much work to be done in preparation for our Annual National Convention in June. Committees will meet and reports will be given. The Trustees and National Lines will strategize and plan as well as reviewing what has happened so far this year. At our National Headquarters we have been moving forward with our day to day administration, our sales operations, and our interaction with the Chapters. Taxes have been filed, annual reports have been reviewed, and membership numbers are monitored continuously. While total members increase, the percentage of the increase from deceased MIPs rises versus total living members declines. I look forward to meeting with the Secretaries at the Mid-Winter meeting to talk about the health of their Chapters and we will introduce some new sales items that we think will peak the interest of our members. We have a new tie design that we think is very attractive, a belt buckle that shows off your membership in our Order, and a new car medallion replacing the one that has been out of stock for some time. We also still have the Sojourner Masonic Apron and the useful Spatula sporting the Sojourner emblem. Check out the catalog on line of our other Sojourner items for sale. BAttle of King’S MountAin ~ 235 YeArS lAter

It was a cold day, this early morn’ of October 7th, but we all were ready to do battle. It rained the day before, so our advance was quiet. We numbered about a thousand from Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, and the Overmountain Men from Tennessee and Kentuck. We were led by Col William Campbell of Virginia, whose reputation was merciless contempt for the Tories … because they gave no quarter toward us. We were to stop the advance of Major Patrick Ferguson and his troop of Loyalists. Our rifles were no match for their muskets, so in an hour’s time, we dispatched the lot of them and the Major met his maker.

On this day, 235 years later, a different story. The sun was bright and the day was warm. Joy was in the air, as we paid homage to these Heroes of the Revolu-tion. The Heroes of ’76 from California, Missouri, and the Carolinas joined with

the Sons of the American Revolu-tion – our hosts – the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Overmountain Men, the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, and many more patriotic organizations. Our number totaled upwards of 450 men and women, and there were more than 60 wreaths presented, including the National Sojourners. A truly great day of celebration.

Be the Light!Happy New Year, Brother Sojourners. As I write this, most of us have concluded

our Christmas and Hanukkah holiday fes-tivities. In both religions and in most other cultures, there is some celebration focused on “light.” Our Jewish brethren celebrated their Festival of Lights, the eight days during which the very limited oil for the Temple light miraculously lasted the eight days it took to purify new oil. For Christians, we celebrated the coming of our “Light of the World.”

In one of my past articles, one of my focuses was on Fiat Lux, “Let there be Light;” that we are to spread the light of who we are and what we do. Here, my focus is slightly different, and, yet, as I hope you will conclude, very similar as now applied.

In our secular world, “light” has many meanings. Shedding light on something means we are making it clearer. Seeing the light means understanding that some-thing, or beginning to understand and/or appreciate it. Man has always loved and appreciated lights, from the stars above, to lighthouses that guide ships, to the bulbs that light our homes. We look to the light; we look for the light.

President Kennedy said in one speech, I have been guided by the standard John Winthrop set before his shipmates on the flagship Arbella 331 years ago, as they, too, faced the task of building a government on a new and perilous frontier. “We must always consider,” he said, “that we shall be as a city upon a hill—the eyes of all people are upon us.”

President Reagan also used the symbol of a shining city in many speeches. He said in his farewell address to the nation, I’ve spoken of the Shining City all my po-litical life. …In my mind it was a tall, proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans,

windswept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace; a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity.

As Sojourners, we are dedicated to promoting the cause of patriotism, believ-ing that this country is a beacon of light and hope for the world. Most of us have dedicated our lives to defending her flag and her Constitution. Even before most of us were Sojourners, we were Proudly Serving the cause of Patriotism, but for solely personal and/or patriotic reasons. Since becoming Sojourners, we continue to Serve the Cause of Patriotism and Proudly so for those same personal and patriotic reasons. Now, we also teach the individu-als in the worlds in which we live to share in our Cause of Patriotism so that they, too, can march with us spreading the light to preserve the significance and importance of our flag and our Constitution. If we are successful in not only dispensing, but also in spreading our light, we can be proud that the cause of Patriotism has been successfully implemented.

In a time that is again threatening our very founding principles, I urge you to focus on bringing light to our cause. We must focus on and continue to support the current members of our armed forces with deep gratitude for their continuing service to our great country. Many of you served during the last Great War and know the hardships of defending our country and the freedom she promises.

Today, our military face hardships we cannot imagine. Our vets deserve good medical care and appropriate compensa-tion. They deserve to not be the focus of the Administration and Congress’s budget cuts that reduce the number of personnel available and reduce the materials they need to preserve and defend this Nation. We can still be active in honoring them and supporting them as they carry our Standard into battle. Together with them, we must continue to shed light on the Cause of Patriotism to ensure that its light remains on the hill for all to see.

As a lawyer, I work with many servicemen and women who are faced with personal challenges in their family lives. They often lose their families because of the stresses of their military lives. These challenges also, necessarily, often affect their produc-tive military careers and sometimes affect their continuation of their military careers. As long as I continue to work, I will con-tinue to assist them in their personal family law issues, while also attempting to help

protect them and their rights in other areas by referring them to appropri-ate legal or other care providers.

As your National President, I have had occasion to travel a great deal this year and to witness the work being done by our Sojourners and their Chapters around the country. I thank you for all your hard work and encourage you to continue to shine the light of the Cause of Patriotism through your many efforts. Reach out to fellow Masons and military members and veterans to enlist their help in shining the light of patriotic fer-vor to preserve and defend our freedoms. Educate young people who may not fully understand how fragile this freedom can be. In this regard, we are set up to do this through our Youth Leadership Conferences.

Work through your chapters and com-munities to support our military and remind our citizens that the darkness can quickly overtake the light if we do not hold true to our values. I know I am “preaching to the choir,” but I believe that our work is important and I want to encourage you to continue in every way possible to Be the Light in all that you do.

MEDAL OF HONOR FOUNDATION

On December 8th, Army Staff Sergeant Ty M. Carter, a true American Hero and recipient of the Medal of Honor was recog-nized by the Medal of Honor Foundation which pays tribute to the living recipients of the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest award for valor while in military service. First awarded during our country’s Civil War under the presidency of Abraham Lin-coln, today there are fewer than 90 living recipients of the Medal. This program was sponsored by Morgan Stanley. National Sojourners-Heroes of ’76 Louis Numkin, Pres Walter Reed #303 and Bill Sanner, Pres Old Dominion #364 presented the colors, led the Pledge of Allegiance and presented the “Toast to the Flag”.

A review of Chapter Annual Bridge of Light Reports received from the various Chapters for the period 1 July 2014 thru 30 June 2015 revealed a slight increase in Chapter Bridge of Light (BOL) activity over the previous year. Eleven (11) Chapters were identified as tentatively eligible to receive the Odie Howell Chapter Bridge of Light Award. Confirmation is pending a final review by BOL Committee members at the upcoming 2016 Mid-Winter Convention.

The BOL Committee will continue its efforts to increase Chapter involvement/engagement in BOL activity. Committee members, through contacts with Area Reps, Regional Reps and/or Chapter Presidents, will encourage Chapters, especially those which do not currently have the available membership and/or the capability to con-duct the more complex presentations, e.g. Building of the Flag, Service Flags of the US, History of the Flag, etc., to conduct the TOAST TO THE FLAG. The latter can be presented by a single Sojourner/Hero of ‘76 although it can also be presented by two. One Sojourner/Hero of ‘76 gives the recita-tion and the “assisting” presenter spreads the Flag and points to the “red, white, blue” and the “whole of it” at the appropriate time. The “Toast to the Flag” is relatively easy to memorize and easily combined with visits to Masonic Lodges and/or other Masonic affairs.

Prior approval should/must be obtained from the Worshipful Master of the Lodge and is appropriately presented at the open-ing of the lodge’s session and precedes the Pledge of Allegiance.

The “Toast to the Flag”, when properly presented, is reported consistently well re-ceived by audiences and reflects favorably on National Sojourners. It results in interest in National Sojourners and can, and often does result in increasing membership.

It should be noted that the “Toast to the Flag” can be presented in “civilian clothes” or in colonial dress.

Copies of “Toast to the Flag” are available from National HQ. Additionally, members of the BOL Committee will be more than pleased to assist any Chapter having ques-tions on presenting any of the various BOL programs. Chapters are further encour-aged to appoint a Chapter BOL Committee composed of “dedicated, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Sojourners, who are well versed in local Masonic traditions ready to impart Masonic assistance”. Chapters are further encouraged to have available a copy of the current Bridge of Light Handbook, Ap-pendix O, Chapter Officers’ Handbook, 22 May 2009, which is available on-line and/or from Hq, National Sojourners. Cited hand-book sets forth many additional ideas for conducting the various BOL presentations and utilizing the opportunity to further create interest in National Sojourner membership.

Distinguished members in attendance were: Bros Roy T. Ota, PNC and Area Repre-sentative; John J. Brown, immediate PNC; and MW Bros Fredric R. Collins and Paul Newman, Past Grand Masters of Japan. Lt Col Michael Wingfield, USAF (Ret.), Senior Air Force Instructor at a local high school provided a most informative and interesting presentation on the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) program in Hawaii. He thanked the National Sojourners, Inc. for its support of JROTC nationwide and especially here in Hawaii. He concluded by fielding questions. Our Pres, MW Bro Collins presented Col Wingfield a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his service and presence at our meeting after which he received warm appreciative applause.

The Brothers and ladies met on Sunday, 15 November for their bi-monthly meeting at the West Point Masonic Lodge. Following a delightful lunch, brothers ad-journed to the Lodge Room for their meet-ing. We were honored to have both our NY State Grand Master and fellow Sojourner William Thomas as well as Grand Marshal and Sojourner Reg. Rep. George Emmons join us. Pres Buchholz presented a short talk on the “Generals of West Point,” regard-ing General’s Bradley, Clarke, Ridgeway & Stillwell, all members of West Point Masonic

Lodge #877. None were members while cadets, but were raised when they returned as Instructors. Bros. Maurer & Emmons added very interesting and insightful per-sonal stories of their relationship with Gen Bradley. Bro. Harry McFarland followed with a short talk about the history of Veterans Day. Also present was Mr. Jack Sherry, a Benjamin Franklin reenactor, who followed with a short talk on the Masonic history of Bro. Franklin. Incidentally, Mr. Sherry was scheduled for his EA degree within a week. Additionally, Bro. Mike Peters, a member of West Point Lodge #877 and the Chairman of the NY State Masonic Military Outreach Program was initiated as an Honorary Mem-ber of our chapter. Lastly, Grand Master Thomas, a Navy Veteran, gave a short talk on Naval contributions during the American Revolution and discussed several Grand Lodge initiatives, as well as the prospect of initiating Masonic relations with the GM of Cuba. Our next gathering is set for Sunday, 21 February at the Old ’76 House to cel-ebrate Bro. Washington’s Birthday and the induction of two new Sojourners. A special thanks to many Brothers and Sojourners who sponsored two unit Christmas parties for soldiers & families of the NY National Guard on Saturday 12/5/15, including a magnanimous donation from Bro. On November 11, Bro. Robert Carr, Pres, presented the Building of the Flag program to Brink Jr. HS School with the help of Deb-bie Clay M.H.R. 8th grade U.S. History Teacher as the point of contact. Rep. participated by laying a wreath at the 10th annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the VA Medical Center Mather, honoring the legacy and heritage of the 100th/442nd Regimental Combat Team and Nisei Vet-erans. The Nisei Veterans served soon after the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th, 1941. While suffering 314% casualties, the 100th.442nd RCT fought in eight major campaigns and became the most decorated unit in U.S. Military history for its size and length of service and earned more than 18,000 individual decorations for bravery, including 21 Medals of Honor and 9,500 Purple Hearts

BrAZoS VAlleY #378, Col Henry C. Hill, Secretary, Po Box 10356, College Station, tX 77842. During the Sojourner meeting on November 5, 2015, Brazos Val-ley #378 had an action filled meeting. Alan Day, Brazos Valley Groundwater Conserva-tion District, outlined plans for area water management, and U. S. Marine Recruiters participated in a Tribute to Sojourner Ma-rines. All enjoyed a Bar-B-Q dinner prior to the meeting.

Explaining the creation and responsibili-ties of the Conservation District, Alan Day, described 50-year plans developed by Brazos county and surrounding districts. Composed of slopping layers of clay and sand and draining toward the Gulf of Mexico, these subsurface aquifers collect and hold essential water. Most of the area is dependent on these water catchment fea-tures to sustain agricultural, manufacturing and residential usages for water. Eventually, reclaimed water must become a large por-tion of water systems to support growth, Mr. Day explained. The district assures reason-able consumption and distribution of water resources and studies future availability.

The meeting concluded with a salute to Sojourners who had served in the Marines as part of a Tribute to the U. S. Marine Corps Birthday, November 10, 1775. Local USMC Recruiters, SSgt Ernesto Perez-Fondeur and SGT Brian Fratus, assisted

A roll of Sojourners who had served in the Ma-rines, those departed Sojourners and those absent and present was called with another Sojourner answering “here” for those ab-sent. The Chapter honored the members of the chapter who had served in the USMC recognizing their service and memory.

For an important Bridge of Light program we partnered with Fort Jackson #184 and presented the Building The Flag Program to Wade Hampton Lodge No. 404 (Greenville, SC); the Valley of Spartanburg, AASR-SJ; and Glendale Lodge No. 271 (Spartanburg, SC). The bodies were so happy to see the program that they made donations to the Sojourners Spirit of America Education Foundation. Pres. 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Isaiah 9: 1-7

I am sure that most of us are somewhat familiar with these words. We are most fa-miliar with only verse 6. Our Jewish brothers through Isaiah reflect on their past under the oppression, the yoke and boot, of As-syria. They are looking to be liberated and redeemed. Isaiah is looking for an heir to David’s throne. Might I go so far as to say a Messiah. Isaiah speaks of a “virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and he shall be called Immanuel, God with us.”

As Christians we also look to Isaiah to see the prophesy of Jesus’ birth. That is the basis of our Christmass. We can read the theories about how Constantine in 325 BCE declared Christmass will coincide with the winter solstice. I would prefer to align Christmass and Hanukkah.

I remember growing up how I imagined being Jewish so I could enjoy the EIGHT days of gift (gelt) receiving over against the one day of Christmas. This year as I am progressing through my Advent devo-tions I am doing a Bible study by Michael Slaughter entitled “Christmas Is Not Your Birthday, Experience The Joy of Living

and Giving Like Jesus.” His main thesis is that we all have way too much stuff and we want even more stuff. As military folk we remember every few years sojourning to a new location and being confronted by a household of boxes and realizing the need to downsize our stuff. Coming off my 9 year mobilization I had two households of stuff so I am still trying to empty out four storage units.

Slaughter’s premise is that we should all sit down as a family, and even as it extends to our house of worship, and agree we do not need more stuff. For every dollar we are going to spend on gifts give an equal amount to “foreign” missions. His favorite is Darfur in the Sudan. We all probably could think of a mission that we have a passion for that will help lift our brothers and sisters out of the darkness that imprisons them.

Okay chaplain, “and what does this have to do with us as Sojourners?” The last few months I have been sojourning in my local area and low and behold I have found di-versity in our lodges and Masonic Bodies. Bodies abiding in a building that “owe” the other bodies thousands of dollars. The lodge that is most out of shape has many, many thousands of dollars in the bank and investments. The members eat free every time a meal is served and they only pay $50 a year if they are not lifers who pay nothing anymore. I visited another lodge that has over a million dollars in real estate and is buying more every year. Two months ago the Senior Warden asked if there were not better ways of spending money than simply making the lodge richer and adding to their portfolio. It is called philanthropy. One of my temples just passed a motion to give Nobles

who have been active for 35 years and have reached age 75 to not have to pay dues. This same temple is dying because young men cannot afford to join and make it to 75.

We all have an obligation to our sick and distressed brothers, widows and orphans. If we do not take that seriously we are just “na-vel gazing.” My mother in law is tormented by her husband’s lodge who continues to

My Brother Sojourners and He-roes of ‘76

It is hard to believe half of my year as National Commander is now history. During this time I have had the opportunity to visit Encamp-ments from East to West and North to South where I have been greeted in genuine friendship. My sincere thanks to all I have met during my visitations.

Our friends are our greatest asset in life. They are more important to

send duns and dues notices when he is emeritus, 87 years old and suffers from Parkinson’s. Are they really in that dire of straits in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia? I dare say all our Masonic bodies have their challenges, but the biggest challenge may in how we handle them.

We as Sojourners have our philanthro-pies and I pray we will continue in those and

let it carry over into our other “bodies” that they may not get caught up in the pursuits of navel gazing or acquiring more stuff.

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sov-ereign of all, for giving us life, for sustaining us, and for enabling us to reach this season.

Material things afford little enjoy-ment unless we have friends to en-joy them with us. If one owned the whole world and there was nobody else here to enjoy it with him, he would be a miserable creature.

There is no more pitiable object than the miser in his lonely isolation. We are by nature social beings. We are created for society. Society is created by friends. It is society that makes life enjoyable. Without the Society of Friends, life would be dull, monotonous, and unbearable.

We need friends, not only to share our joys, but to share our troubles, to help us in times of trial and need. “Woe to him that is alone when he falleth,” says Solomon, “for he hath not another to help him up.” I can think of nothing more pathetic than when a man falls into serious difficulty, and he hasn’t a friend in the world to whom he can turn for sympathy, counsel and assistance.

It is more important to make friends than to make money. What-ever else we may achieve in life, if we fail to achieve any friendships, we have failed in that which is most essential to our happiness and most needed in the day of trouble.

To make friends, we must make ourselves friendly. It takes friends to make friends.

Becoming a National Sojourner and more especially the Heroes of

’76 has added a new dimension to my life as new friendships have developed. I was introduced and encouraged to become a Sojourner because of a friend in whom we had a mutual friend. It really is a small world when you learn that one person knows somebody that you know. In this case, a multiple friend-ship has brought me to where I am today and serving as your National Commander. Thank you Brother MW and Past National President Stu Cowan, Brother Past National President Andrew McVeigh III and the late Brother Col. Billy Joe York, a Marine and a friend from the time we met at Officer Candidate Course in 1953 until his demise in 2010.

By the time this message goes to press, Christmas 2015 and New Year’s Day 2016 will be history. However, I can still wish each and every one of my Brothers and their families my very best wishes. The past six months are filled with memories and new friends made. In the incoming months, I look forward to meeting and greeting friends I hadn’t met before.

nAtHAnAel greene CAMP (tinker #43). We presented the Colors during the Tecumseh, Ok. Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star’s installation of the 2015-2016 Officers. Earlene Mason (Worthy Matron) and Michael Christie (Worthy Patron) were installed by the installation team which consisted of WGM Hazel Robinson, WGP Michael Christie, Kaye Lainer (Marshal), PGM Ann Barnes, (Chaplain), Betty Smith, (Secretary), and GO Virginia Stone, (Organ-ist). The Flag was presented by PCC Dan Burchett, Feff Fluker and PCC Ken Staten.

ligHt HorSe HArrY lee CAMP (old Dominion #364). On 3 November 2015 three members of the Building the Flag Ceremony Team met at, Manassas, VA, to deliver the Historical Flag Ceremony to approximately forty Lodge members and guests of Manasseh Lodge 182. Bro. Joe Spruill (PP), dressed in a Continental Navy service dress uniform, introduced the par-ticipants and superbly provided the narra-tion for the ceremony. He delivered a stirring Toast to the Flag at the end of the ceremony. Hero Les Albers (PC, Sec), wearing a Conti-nental Army dress uniform, presented half of the flags and displayed the National Colors for the Toast to the Flag. We showed our support for youth programs by including Boy Scout Jackson Gleason as a presenter for the other half of the flags. Worshipful Master Bennett Hart expressed the appreciation of the Lodge for our presentation by presenting each Hero with a special Masonic lapel pin. Bro. Spruill presented WM Hart a Bridge of Light Certificate. This was a heartwarming and memorable patriotic event.

On 16 November 2015 three members of our Flag Team met at, Arlington, VA, to deliver the Building the Flag Ceremony to approximately fifteen Lodge members and guests of Columbia Lodge No. 285. Bro. William Sanner (Pres. and NS-T), dressed in a Continental Army dress uniform, introduced the participants and superbly provided the narration for the ceremony. He delivered a stirring Toast to the Flag at the end of the ceremony. Bro. Keye Perry, Jr (PP, CC) sporting a Continental army dress uniform, assembled the canton end of the flag and displayed the National Colors in the shape of a tricorn during the ceremony while Hero Les Albers (PC, Sec), wear-ing a Virginia Regimental dress uniform, worked the fly end of the flag. Worshipful Chris Chrzanowski, expressed the appre-ciation of the Lodge for our presentation. He acknowledged the military Brethren by asking them to stand and relate their military branch and years of service. Bro. Sanner presented WM Chrzanowski a Bridge of Light Certificate. This was a meaningful patriotic occasion.

GENERAL WILLIAM WHIPPLE CAMP (Portsmouth #386). On October 16, 2015. Bro Phil Fraser, Cdr, opened the camp for a Bivouac. Shortly after the opening there was a commotion from the outer perimeter. The sentries having investigated the commotion found an individual by the name Timothy Callahan stating he was a Master Mason and National Sojourner in good standing indicating that he wanted to join the Continental Army. After Bro. Cal-lahan was interviewed by the Cdr, Bro. Phil Fraser and other Heroes of the camp pres-

ent, and being satisfied of his patriotic inten-tions he was accepted as a Hero.

On November 20, 2015 Bro. Philip Fra-ser, Cdr, opened the camp for a Bivouac. Shortly after the opening there was a com-motion from the outer perimeter. The sen-tries having investigated the cause for the commotion found an individual by the name Richard Davidson stating he was a Master Mason and National Sojourner in good standing indicating that he wanted to join the Continental Navy. After Bro. Da-vidson being interviewed by the Cdr, and other Heroes present, and being satisfied of his patriotic intentions he was accepted as a Hero and new Recruit.

GENERAL PIERRE G. T. BEAURE-gArD CAMP (Beauregard-Anderson #530). On June 29, 2015 we were honored to present the Flag Program at Phoenix Lodge # 38 in Natchitoches, LA in an open meeting. The event was well attended and well received.

JAMeSBurg VeterAnS PArK MeMoriAl MonuMent Bro BoB gArVeY, nortHern neW JerSeY #42

After planning, designing, constructing, and dedicating the Jamesburg Veterans Park Memorial Monument over the past two years at a final cost of $ 102,000 dollars, this past Thursday, 22 Oct 2015, we placed the final 5 outstanding names on the monuments which contain well over 600 names of the Veterans that served from Jamesburg, New Jersey in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, The Cold War & The Global War on Terrorism and in doing so ended a milestone for us in the final completion of the monuments. Although we are planning to build two more monuments in the near future for the Civil War Veterans and the Revolutionary War Veterans within the same park area, the monuments which we dedicated in 2014 on Memorial Day are now closed for any further names to ever be added.

Those who attended the dedication ceremony on Memorial Day, 2014, witnessed among a few other events that day, a Masonic Dedication Ceremony with respect to the construction of the monument itself by both myself, Bro Bob Garvey as a Freemason and Bro Lynn Ehrhardt of Philipsburg Memorial who supplied all of the stonework and who is also a Freemason.

Therefore, we felt it only befitting that following the last set of names to be sandblasted into the granite monuments that there was only one item left to include and that was the Masonic Symbol of the Square and Compass therefore indicating forever for future gen-erations that this important project was conceived by Masons and built by Masons.
