David provides optical system design and support for the MIRI instrument on JWST, MOONS for the VLT, and future E-ELT instrumentation. David leads a number of research activities including investigating ultrafast laser inscription of diffraction gratings, developing calibration light sources, and concepts for photonics based instrumentation.
