We are a technology services company that puts people before technology. Yes, we have deep experience consulting, implementing solutions, providing managed services and staffing engagements. But we believe that, by focusing on relationships, we are better able to improve people’s experiences and lives through technology.
This human approach allows us to be more flexible, more attentive and, most importantly, to do the right thing. It also means we empower our experts to go beyond cookie-cutter solutions and create the tools that will move our clients’ businesses into the future.
Technology is at its best when it complements our natural abilities and enhances our interactions. Which is why we say that, at Prosum, we make technology human.

“ With Prosum, we ended up finding one of those rare win-win scenarios where you have not only better service but also reduced cost of technology…I’m a big fan.” — Dan DeLeon, CFO of The California Endowment
Case Study:
The California Endowment
MANAGED SERVICES
‘Doing what’s right’: it’s an everyday mission at The California Endowment, a foundation focused on healthcare issues and access for underserved communities. We’d also like to think that it typifies the work Prosum has done for The Endowment.
The California Endowment originally hired Prosum for our outsourced managed services solutions. “Standard managed services providers typically come in with very rigid solutions sets,” said Prosum’s Andrew Salisbury.
“While we give our clients access to business analysts, enterprise project managers, experts who have designed extensive storage environments for Fortune 500 companies, and more.”
Within months of our partnership, The California Endowment was seeing great results—all this, despite a demanding clientele. “We have a highly educated workforce – masters degrees and doctoral degrees,” said Dan DeLeon, CFO of The California Endowment.
“They’re familiar with technology and know when they’re not getting the highest level of support.” Prosum delivered beyond expectations. “The noise level reduced significantly when Prosum came here: the number of outages, the number of complaints just completely dropped off,” said DeLeon. “With Prosum, we ended up finding one of those rare win-win scenarios where you have not only better service but also reduced cost of technology…I’m a big fan.”
In addition to managed services, The California Endowment also engaged Prosum’s solutions expertise to roadmap and implement projects like a disaster recovery site with mirrored environments, a server migration and a hybrid Office 365 environment.
A defining moment arose when The California Endowment asked Prosum to implement a contact management system using Salesforce, one of our areas of expertise. Our solutions team gathered requirements and determined that, in this case, Salesforce was not the right fit. The team instead recommended Nationbuilder, a solution that required us to contract with an outside partner.
“One of the pillars of Prosum is to do what’s right,” said Salisbury. “If Prosum is the best solution, we’ll use our internal team. If not, we’ll use other partners.” In this case, the decision to use Nationbuilder cut the project’s costs by more than half.
Since the outsource began, Prosum’s customer satisfaction scores have continued to improve year after year. And our role at the foundation has grown too - we now advise on IT organizational management, investment areas and budgeting. We think it’s strong proof that, when you do right by others, it comes back to you for good.

“ If an opportunity arose to use Prosum SAP resources again, I would do so!” — JAFRA, Business Process Improvement
ERP / SAP SERVICES
I’ve been spending a lot of time at wineries lately. Surprisingly, it has very little to do with my love for good wine and a lot to do with my knowledge of ERPs.
ERP, for the uninitiated, stands for Enterprise Resource Planning software. These are integrated applications that integrate, automate and simplify many business processes like billing, purchasing, inventory, shipping, cash collection, cash allocation, etc. Once upon a time, you had to be a Levi Strauss or Dole Foods to afford one of these systems—they were big, expensive, and required lots of customization with surrounding integrators and middleware. An SAP or Oracle ERP was only a pipedream.
No longer.
The rise of smaller ERP solutions like SAP Business One and Microsoft Dynamics means that growing SMBs can get in on the automation game. And that’s what brings me to the wineries.
When my favorite winery ships to me, a club member, I get a package with a handwritten label. And that gets my consultant radar flashing. I know instantly that this winery could benefit from an ERP solution like SAP Business One to manage their operations. How?
Example 1: Back at the winery, one employee is keeping track of the club members’ monthly payments. Meanwhile, another employee is printing the mailing labels and shipping the bottles. With SAP Business One, these processes are integrated, so if I don’t pay my club membership, the billing function of SAP Business One tells the shipping function not to print a label for my chardonnay until I’ve paid up.
Example 2: SAP Business One won’t allow the winery’s sales department to complete a sales order to ship without entering a proper shipping address. This prevents an all-too-common problem down the line when the people in the warehouse would have to hunt down that address themselves.
Example 3: When a salesperson takes a large order of syrah, SAP Business One will automatically check inventory to make sure that particular wine is available in the requested quantity. If the wine is on backorder, it won’t immediately allow the salesperson to place the order. Rather, it will tell the salesperson how far the backlog extends and then allow the customer to commit to the delayed fulfillment before placing the order.
This breed of smaller ERPs are much more manageable than their behemoth, $30-million parents. Cloud based, they come in at $1,300 for a subscription license and you can be up and running in about 4-6 weeks.
As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of ERPs, I love SAP Business One. All the integration is built in and it’s really easy to use. Plus it all lives in the SAP cloud, so you get their enterprise grade security, keeping your customers’ credit card data safe from prying eyes.
All this means that a winery – or really any SMB that sells products – can do their job more efficiently and cost-effectively. Which is worth raising a glass. Or two.

“ I have always been impressed by the breadth and depth of Prosum’s knowledge of Microsoft solutions and their consistent ability to deliver. They always act as a partner with our best interest in mind.” — David S. Goldberg, VP

Case Study: VCA
Our agreement with VCA Animal Hospitals is a bit unique. But it didn’t start that way.
It began with a standard proof of concept for Microsoft Hyper-V Virtualization Technology – this was just one of many Microsoft solutions that VCA used to keep its constantly expanding network of hospitals running smoothly. Throughout the Hyper-V project, VCA liked Prosum’s efficiency and expertise. So when they needed a System Center Operations Manager to help them monitor and tune their Sharepoint servers, they called again.
It wasn’t long before VCA had asked Prosum to analyze their overall Microsoft infrastructure and make improvements throughout the ecosystem. That’s when we began to talk about a different kind of relationship.
“ We have such a breadth of resources andcapabilities, that VCA was constantly using different Prosum consultants,” said Prosum’s
Mark Maruyama. “So we created a flexible blanket agreement that allows them to engage our consultants on an ad hoc basis.”
So far, VCA has made good use of the model, utilizing the full gamut of Prosum’s Microsoft solutions practice on more than 20 engagements over the last two years.
“It’s not just the depth of our Microsoft expertise,” said Maruyama, “It’s the breadth of the areas in which we do have depth. From Office 365 to SQL to Azure to Exchange to System Center to Sharepoint, and the list goes on.”
And, importantly, our Microsoft experts know how to integrate each of those pieces together. Which is why, as VCA’s network continues to expand, they trust Prosum to be there with the right solutions at the right time.

Case Study: Riot
“ We placed people who are big fans of League of Legends and now they can’t believe they get paid to work for the company that makes the game they’re so passionate about.” — Luis Rhee, Prosum
Getting Up To Speed With RiotIT FOR RAPIDLY EXPANDING COMPANIES
League of Legends moves fast. Take it slow in this high-paced strategy game, and you’re toast. Its maker, Riot Games is also no stranger to speed. In only 4 years, Riot grew from 50 to 1,500 employees. Not surprisingly, their startup-sized IT department couldn’t keep up. Riot needed a coordinated, expanded Corp IT staff, ASAP. But not just any IT staff.
“Riot tends to hire the best of the best…they are very selective. We needed to staff close to 40 people with 40 unique, individual skillsets.”
And even then, it wasn’t just about getting the right expertise.
“They’re very big on culture fit. The guys that work at Riot, they live, breathe and die video games, so we needed to find candidates that would fit in well with that culture.”
And Prosum delivered.
“ We placed people who are big fans of League of Legends and now they can’t believe they get paid to work for the company that makes the game they’re so passionate about.”
With the right Corp staff in place, Riot and Prosum have moved on to new initiatives, centralizing and standardizing disparate IT processes among Riot’s offices in Los Angeles, Saint Louis, Dublin, Sydney, Seoul, Istanbul, Moscow and Hong Kong.
The upgrades significantly improved Riot’s ROI for hardware, software and staff and freed up the IT team for more strategic work. More important, we helped eliminate many of the manual operations that had been slowing Riot down.
In a world where speed is everything. Prosum and Riot are taking it to the next level.
