The prosthetic glove is vital for the user and is the first part of the prosthesis that others notice visually. In addition, the glove protects the me- chanics from moisture, dirt and dust and there-fore gives the user more confidence with the prosthesis. It is a completely individual decision which the foremost requirements and needs are. There is now a choice of four high-quality AxonSkin prosthetic gloves with different features for the Michelangelo Hand. The user can therefore

decide between different prosthetic gloves – oriented entirely individually to suit their re- quirements and wishes and adapted optimally to their life situation: whether natural, i.e. as inconspicuous as possible, or eye-catching, whether particularly robust and tear-resistant or unsusceptible to dirt and easy to take care of – the AxonSkin gloves offer the right solution for any requirement.

• The following applies to all AxonSkin prosthetic gloves: Please observe the care and cleaning instructions.

The comparison – PVC and Silicone Gloves from Ottobock

PVC Silicone

Durability • PVC has a good mechanical strength and good durability;

if a tear is present, PVC is more resistant compared to silicone to tearing further and barely shows abrasion

Durability • Silicone has a lower mechanical strength; if there is a tear,

silicone is less resistant to tearing further and suffers from higher abrasion in comparison to PVC (rubber effect)

Temperature dependence• PVC becomes a little bit harder at low temperatures; its

elasticity reduces in comparison to silicone

Temperature dependence• Silicone does not show any change or reduced

functionality at low temperatures in comparison to PVC

Surface properties • PVC does not have a sticky surface in comparison to

silicone – textiles, fibres, hairs and dust do not stick to the surface; ease of putting on and taking off clothes can be guaranteed

Surface properties • Silicone has a more sticky surface than PVC – textiles,

fibres, hairs and dust stick quickly and fast to the surface; putting on and taking off clothes is more difficult

Soiling/cleaning• PVC is more susceptible to soiling than silicone and has

worse cleaning properties• The outermost layer reduces the susceptibility to soiling

and makes cleaning easier• Daily cleaning with water and soap• If water and soap are insufficient: use a special cleaner

(640F12) with a pump sprayer (640F13) • Correct use of the cleaner is essential.

– In the case of soiling, the special cleaner should be used immediately: spray on, leave to take effect briefly and wipe off the dirt by applying a moderate pressure with a clean, undyed cloth. Rinse with water and dry.

– Important: do not leave the cleaner to take effect for too long and do not try to remove the dirt with force or with too much pressure

– Take care with ballpoint pens, printing ink (newspapers, photocopies) and dark, unwashed textiles

– If dyes have migrated into the PVC cleaning is no longer possible

Soiling/cleaning • Silicone soils only slightly or not at all and has better

cleaning properties than PVC• Oils found in paints and solvents can cause the silicone to

swell and permeate the silicone• Daily and primary cleaning with water and soap is usually

sufficient• Special cleaner (640F12) should not be used on silicone.• If dyes have migrated into the silicone cleaning is no

longer possible

AxonSkin NaturalNaturally beautiful

AxonSkin Natural excels with its high naturalness and particular aesthetics; it is also very robust and lasts relatively long. A special finish makes it soil-resistant and makes cleaning noticeably easier. Hand-drawn details such as veins, knuckles and fingernails replicate the impression of a hand. Deceptively real.

• Features

• Material: multilayered PVC• Good mechanical strength, good durability, robust, does

not tear easily, barely any abrasion• Special outer layer for a reduced susceptibility to soiling

and simpler cleaning• Long sleeve length for an integrated covering up to the

elbow• High naturalness thanks to the hand-coloured

replication of the fingernails, veins and knuckles – slight deviations possible

• The fingernails can be coloured with standard nail varnish, which should only be removed with acetone-free nail varnish remover

• Versions available for men and women• Colours: available in 6 colours, more planned (646M47

colour sample set)• Dark colours (8, 11 and 16) with lighter palm, high

naturalness• Clean with special cleaner (640F12) and pump sprayer
