University's Guiding Light PRABHATI M. 1
He, who, by the Guru's Grace, Dwells on the (Waheguru's) Wisdom, he gathers Glory,
And within himself his Self becomes Manifest, and he is Blest with the Nectar-Name.[1]
O Creator-Waheguru, thou art my only Giver, my Host,
And this is the only charity I beg of Thee; Pray, Bless me with Thy Name. [1-Pause]
The Five Thieves, yea, the knowing faculties, one binds down to a point, and rids oneself of Ego:
And, lo, one is delivered of viewing the Vice: such is the Merit of Waheguru's Wisdom. [2]
Chastity and Modesty are the rice-balls, Compassion the wheat-doughs, and the Attainment of Waheguru,
the receiving
of charity in the leafy bowl,
And Deeds the milk, and Contentment the butter: such, are the Alms I ask from my Waheguru. [3]
Of the milch-cow of forgiveness and Patience, the calf of my Mind sucks in the milk of Equipoise.;
And I ask for the Robes of the Waheguru's Praise and of Humility and Submission (to His Will), and thus:
Do I Utter ever His Praise. [4-7]

Vice Chancellor’s Message
We are on the threshold of a new academic year, a fresh beginning with new opportunities and challenges. Modern world has ushered in an era where knowledge can no longer be confined to narrow disciplinary boundaries. In this era of globalization, knowledge is expanding in newer areas which directly or indirectly impact human lives. However, quite paradoxically the emerging knowledge society is not inclusive and seems to lack right moral-ethical direction which is evident in the world becoming an increasingly violent place. Keeping the moral-ethical aspect of the education in mind, we strive to disseminate knowledge for social and economic transformation of the society, based on the lofty values embodied in the sacred Sri Guru Granth Sahib and other holy scriptures. In keeping pace with the changing imperatives of emerging job market, we have introduced market relevant courses in Emerging Technologies which offer opportunities for gainful employment. Not only this, the university in its pursuit of excellence, strives to inculcate leadership qualities and such abilities among the students as would make them good researchers. We believe in professionalism coupled with ethical and moral commitment leading to the development of holistic personality of the learners. This lays great accountability on us to maintain highest standards of academic and moral excellence. We have world class infrastructure, latest equipment and a team of dedicated faculty to translate our dreams into reality. While focusing on intensive study and research in the areas of world religions, cultures and civilizations, we lay equal stress on the teaching of Emerging Technologies, Engineering, Management, Basic and Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages.
University is approved under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956. We are making rapid strides towards attaining a place of eminence among institutions of higher learning in the country. The future beckons us and we are fully geared up for it.

such. However, new topics and also new courses have
been added to infuse new blood in the area. The latest
crop plantation methodology is taught to the students.
The course is meant to provide the students with detailed
knowledge in the practices and techniques of farming
and forestry. The sustainable use of land resources has
emerged as the latest area of attention in the field of
agriculture. More emphasis is given on use of fertilizers
and modern instrumental methods of farming. Due to this
change in the trend of farming from traditional to
modern, the requirement of trained professionals in the
field of agriculture has increased. A candidate who has
completed a course in Agriculture can get into research
work related to farming and crop plantation. One can
even get into the teaching profession.

Musicusic is an integral part of socio-religious life
of India. There is a great repertoire of music Mfrom the time of birth, through the different
stages of joy and sorrow, till death. Guru Nanak, the first
guru of the Sikhs, has described music as a means of
attaining spiritual joy and transcendental bliss. By means
of music, he moulded the spiritual and temporal life of his
devotees. Besides Guru Nanak, other saints of the Bhakti
movement had also composed songs in various ragas
which were sung to the accompaniment of musical
instruments in the form of kirtan. There are two main
genre of music: Vocal and Instrumental. The ancient
writers laid emphasis on the cultivation of voice which is
the result of great discipline. Control over the voice is
the key to the art of singing. Study of music offers great

Physiotherapyhysiotherapy is a branch of health sciences that
deals with prevention and restoration of Pmovement related problems using non-drug
approach. The genesis of modern Physiotherapy is a post
world war phenomenon. The wartime experience of
medical teams involved in care of injured soldiers and the
polio epidemic during 1940s, primarily contributed to
the medical use and acceptance of Physiotherapy
practice.
It was realised by the core medical experts that the
Physiotherapy has the potential to treat the patients,
which cannot be achieved by drugs or surgery alone. The
primary role of Physiotherapy is the prevention and
correction of locomotor disability.
It works towards keeping the mobility power of an
individual intact. Several diseases / injuries have
potential to make a person locomotor disabled. In these
conditions along with the medical/surgical treatment,
physiotherapy plays a crucial role in the functional
restoration of the patients. Students of physiotherapy can
find jobs in government and private health centres/ multi

can start their own physiotherapy clinics. Trained

Research CentresThree research centres have been set up under the School of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies. Through these research centres we intend to explore the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib along with Sikh religion and Sikh Music (Gurmat Sangeet) in the present context. To begin with, the list of works done on national and international level in these areas will be prepared so that direction as well as vision for further research can be decided.
Guru Nanak Dev Centre For Gurmat SangeetThe objective for setting up of this centre is to carry out research in various aspects of Sikh Music and to prepare Encyclopedia of Sikh Music. Gurmat Sangeet plays very significant role in spreading the pious message of Gurbani. The aim of research in Sikh Music is to explore the distinct features of Gurmat Sangeet in comparison with Indian classical music. Moreover, we wish to explore its potential to lead the human soul to the highest dimensions of life.
Guru Arjun Dev Centre For Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies The objective for setting up of this centre is to carry out authentic research in various aspects of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, to spread its message universally. It is relevant to mention here that the whole universe is in dire need of the message of universal brotherhood through the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Only such teachings can guide the world on the path of Grehasth-Udaas instead of extreme ways of materialism and renunciation. For this purpose we need to take this message to the people who belong to different cultures, languages and life styles via its adequate presentation in their language as well as idiom.
Bhai Gurdas Centre For Sikh Studies The objective for setting up of this centre is to carry out research in Sikh heritage, culture, philosophy, tradition, martyrs, Sikh way of life and all related aspects of Sikh living and thinking. Sikh Panth has made glorious achievements, but these have yet to be explored and disseminated to the world in a right context. Further, Guru Sahib has bestowed Sikh Panth with revolutionary models which are exceptionally distinguished from the existing models in the areas of politics, economics, cultural as well as spirituality. But all this is yet to be explored in academic disciplines.
