Overtheyears,NIELITcourseshavebenefitedanumberof studentsanditspopularityhasbeenincreasing.Sofartheinstitutionhas3615studentsinFormalUniversityaffiliatedcoursesand8742inNon-FormalNIELITCourses.Atotalof 40,083(includingformal,non-formal,DigitalLiteracyandshorttermcourses)candidateshavebeentrainedsinceitsinceptionintheyear1988.

Manyof ourex-studentsareemployedinwell-knownmultinational/privatecompanies,StateandCentralGovernmentagenciesandoffices.

NIELIT Imphal setup twoExtensionCenters atChurachandpur& Senapati underthe financial support of MeitY, Govt. of India. These two extension Centres becameoperationalfromtheacademicsession2013-14withintakecapacitytotrain600students/year.

Besides the training activities,NIELIT Imphal alsodevoted toother activities suchassports,yoga,cleanlinessdrive,national integrityandvoluntaryparticipation innationbuilding.Inthepreviousacademicsession,the institutehadorganizedvariouseventforstudentsandstaff suchasJobfair,Sportsmeet,annualfresher’smeet,etc.

NIELIThasendeavouredtoestablishstandardstobethecountry’spremierinstitutionforExamination andCertification in the field of IECT. It is also one of theNationalExaminationBody,whichaccreditsinstitutes/organizationsforconductingcoursesinITinthenon-formalsector.

NIELITisalsosuccessfullyexecutingtheAgricultureCensusandInputSurveyprojectunder which tabulation of about 10 crore data records have to be done.NIELIT hasplannedaroadmapforadoptingappropriatepedagogyformetamorphosingNIELITintoanInstituteof NationalImportance.

2. ABOUT NIELIT IMPHAL

NIELIT Imphalwas foundedonOctober 1, 1988.TheCentrebecameoperationalin July 1989with the introductionof ThreeYearsDiploma inElectronicsEngineeringCourse.Withthemergingof allCEDTIswithDOEACCSocietyon14thDecember2002,allerstwhileCEDTIs’havebeenrenamedasDOEACCCentres,nowasNIELIT(NationalInstituteof ElectronicsandInformationTechnology)Imphal.

Spread over an area of more than 20 acres, it houses the main Institute Buildingconsistingof Administrativewing,SeminarHall,LectureHalls,FacultyRooms,ComputerLabs,MechanicalWorkshop,Electro-medicalLaboratory,PCBLab,Servicingcell,CyberForensicLab,ITSecurityLab,EmbeddedSystem&IoTLab,NanotechnologyLabandother laboratories. Besides the institute’s main building, the campus houses the staff quarters, students’hostels, guesthouse, electrical substation andotherhostof essentialfacilities.

The Institute hasalso well-equippedlabs in Electronics &alliedfields.Apartfromlabs,theInstitutehasMechanicalWorkshop,Library(withdigitallibraryfacility),150seatscapacity Seminar Hall, Multipurpose Hall and IndoorBasketball hall. c) Maximum number of attempts to earn a credit in at least one course:

- Everyregisteredstudentof DiplomaEngineeringprogramintheinstitutionshallbegiventwo(02)consecutivechancetoearnacreditinatleastone(01)coursewithend-termexamination.

- If anyone could not earn credit in the requisite one (01) course with end-term examination even after two consecutive attempts, the student shall be

Examination Pattern of BCA

(i) Numericalmarking systemof evaluation shall be adopted.Eachpaper (theoryorpractical)shallcarryfullmarksof 100outof whichtheInternalAssessmentmarks shall be 25 in case of theory papers and 50marks in case of practicalpapers.ThereshallbenoInternalAssessmentmarksincaseof projectpapers.

(ii) For each theory and practical paper there shall beEnd SemesterExaminationcarrying75incaseof theorypapersand50marksincaseof practicalpapers.

(iii) End SemesterExamination for theory paper carrying 75marks shall be of 3hoursdurationand thatof practicalpapersof 50marksshallbeof 4hoursduration.

Minimum pass marks and classification of Successful Candidates for MSc. IT course:

Passmarks for the internal assessment in case of theory paper shall be 40%. If acandidatefailstopassintheinternalassessmenthe/shewillnotbepermittedtoappearattheSemesterExamination(UniversityExam)of thatpaperandhe/shewillbeconsideredtohavescoredzeromarksinthepaper.If acandidatefailstopassintheinternalassessment,he/shewillberequiredtocompletealltherequirementsof theinternalassessmentagain,andsecurenotlessthan40%intheinternalassessmentsoastobecomeeligibletoappearinthecorrespondingSemesterExamination.

Thesameprocedureshallbefollowedinthecaseof practicalpapersexceptthatthepassmarksfortheinternalassessmentincaseof practicalwillbe50%.

Passing of First Year:

1(a) Theminimummarks for passing theFirstYear (First and SecondSemesterstaken together) shallbe40% ineach theorypaperand50% ineachpracticalpaper and 50%marks in aggregate of all papers prescribed in the First andSecondSemestersinadditiontothepassingcriteriaprescribedinthepreviouspara.

1(b) If acandidatehaspassedinallthepapersof theFirstYearbutfailstosecure50%inaggregateof allthepapersintheFirstYear,suchacandidateshallberequiredtoreappearinsomeof thepapersof theFirstYearinthecorrespondingSemesterExaminationsothathemayimprovetheFirstYearaggregatemarksto50% or more.

1(c) AcandidatemaybeprovisionallypromotedtoSecondYear (ThirdSemester)if hehaspassed inat leasteight (8)outof 12papersprescribed in theFirstYearandprovidedthathehassecuredat least50%marks inaggregateof all

3(c) Firstdivisionwithdistinction:75%ormoremarksintheaggregate(providedthatthecandidatehaspassedallthepapersandalltheexaminationinthefirstattempt).

3(d) First division: 60% or more marks but fails to satisfy the criteria for beingclassifiedasfirstdivisionwithdistinctionaslaiddownin3(c).

14. HOSTEL FACILITIES

14.1 Facilities:

SeparateHostelsareavailableforBoysandGirls.Boys’hostelcanaccommodateabout60studentsand60inGirl’shostel.Theseatsareallocatedonthebasisof necessity.Hostelmessismanagedbyacontractor.ThemonthlymessbillworksouttoaboutRs3,000/-.The Instituteprovidesmedical facilities to the students and residents in the campusbyemployingaresidentdoctorinthecampuswhoisassistedbyatrainednursefromtimetotime.Commonmedicinesareprovidedfreeof cost.TheGovt.PrimaryHealthCentreislocatedjust500metersawayfromtheNIELITcampusatAkampat.Incaseof emergency,theinstitutearrangeshospitalizationof thepatientandinformshisguardian/parents.

TwomorehostelsforSC/STboysandGirlsof capacity100studentseacharebeingconstructedwithfundingfromNorthEasternCouncil.

16. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

NIELIT Imphal organizes various events for students such as annual sportsmeet,AnnualFresher’smeetandannualindustrialtouretc.Thestudentsof theCentreparticipatedinvariousInterCollegeSportseventsunderManipurUniversityaswellasAllIndiaInteruniversitySportseventsrepresentingM.U.Studentsarealsoallowtojoinyogaclassesinthemorningorintheevening.TheInstituteengagedwellqualifiedtrainerof yogaclasses.Oneof the studentof the Institute tookmedal in international yoga competitionheldatIndonesiaintheyear2019.TheInstitutehasfacilitiessuchasindoorbadmintonhall,indoorbasketballhall,yogaclassroometc.

Notonlyinsportsevents,studentsof theInstituteparticipatedinmuchotherStateLevelcompetitionlikeITTalentSearch,DebatingCompetition,EssayWritingCompetition,etc.andbaggedprizes.Infact,studentsof thisCentreareshowingexcellentperformanceinmanyotherfieldsalso.Inadditiontothese,culturalprogramsareperformedjointlybythestudentsandstaff duringFresher’smeetprogrammeandfoundationdaycelebration.

17. NIELIT CHURACHANDPUR EXT. CENTRE

Churachandpur Extension Centre of NIELIT Imphal was setup under the project“Developmentof North-EasternRegionbyenhancing theTraining/Educationcapacityin the IECT area”. The Centre was formally inaugurated by Secretary, Ministry of Communications&InformationTechnology,Govt.of Indiaon19thAugust,2013throughvideoconferencing inpresenceof DeputyCommissioner,ChurachandpurDistrict.TheCentre became operational since January, 2013. Till date the Centre has trained 7461students.

Location and Connectivity

TheCentrewaspreviouslylocatedatthetemporary location at Hill Town and sinceDecember 2019 it has been shifted to thepermanent campus which is of 4.13 acresof land provided byGovt. of Manipur andis located at Tuibong,M.C.MaryKom ringroad,Churachandpur about800mfrom theNationalHighwayand1.5Kmfromdistrictmainbusstand.

The campus is surrounded by theGovt. offices like PostOffice, FireDepartment,DistrictCourt,DeputyCommissioner’soffice,Districtmagistrateetc.

TheInstitutehavetheinfrastructurelikeAcademicBlock,AdministrativeBlock,Girl’sHostel-cum-residentFacultyQuarter,Cafeteria,CarParking,Playgroundetc.

AtpresenttheCentrehasthefollowingfacilities:

(i) Five(5)ComputerLabswhichhasatotalof 100brandedcomputers.Allthelabsarewell-furnishedandequippedwithProjectionSystem,whiteboard and furniture. TheComputers are connected toLAN through a server and theyare regularly upgraded to thelatestsoftware.

(ii) One Computer hardware-cum-electronics lab equipped withlatest electronics devices likeSpectrum analyzer, digital powersupply, clamp meter, advanceddigitalmultimeteretc.andhasgotadedicatedsolderingstation.

(iii) Two (2) Classroom of capacity 50 and 30 students and well equipped withwhiteboardandprojector.

(iv) TheInstitutehas24/7uninterruptedpowersupplythrough3phaseconnectionandhasBackupfacilitywithDGSetsof capacity160KVA&63KVAandUPS.Apartfromthesefacilities,theInstitutehasproperindoorandoutdoorlighting.Alltheseequipmentandfacilitiesaresupportedbyproperelectrificationworksandsafetymechanisms.

(v) TheCentreisconnectedtoInternetthroughtwoISPs(100MbpsfromBSNLand10MbpsfromaprivateISP)andtheseinternetfacilityisextendedtoallthestudentsof theinstitute.

(vi) Well-furnishedLibrarywithcomputerizedlibrarymanagementsystems.Variousbooks on Electronics, Computers and allied field are available. Library isautomatedbyusingKOHAlibrarysoftware.Internetfacilityisalsoavailable.

(vii) TheInstituteismonitored24/7byCCTVsurveillancecameras.

(viii) TheInstitutehasVideoconferencefacility.
