Our Reception Class

It has a designated playground with a range of outdoor learning opportunities for reception pupils.

Learning takes place through first hand experiences, building on what the children can already do.

The curriculum is split into three prime areas and four specific areas:

Prime Areas:- Communication and language- Physical development- Personal, social and emotional development

Specific areas:- Literacy- Mathematics- Understanding the world- Expressive arts and design

Key Stage 1 (years 1 and 2)

Topic work becomes an increasing part of curriculum time as the children expandtheir knowledge and skills.

This forms an essential part of the children’s learning about the wider worldaround them.

Science and technology form an important base for the majority oftopics, whilst other topics are based on geographical, historical andreligious themes.

Artwork plays a valuable role intopics and in its own right.

Our goal is for every school in the Woodlands Federation to .drive for, and achieve, excellence

We will review our schools’ development plans regularly to ensure they enable us to achieve our goals and objectives.
