Prospective Student-Athlete College Counseling (PSACC) advises and coaches prospective student-athletes throughout their college recruiting and selection process. Being recruited by colleges opens the door to many opportunities. The recruiting process can also be be limiting and stressful. We are here to help.

PSACC gives clients the information and tools to navigate their way through the college athletic recruiting maze. A central part of this process is helping clients discover what they really want from their college and athletic experiences. We like to think of ourselves as the SAT tutors of the college recruiting process. We can't do the work or take the test for you, but we will to help you establish targets and strategies for achieving your goals.

Our goal is to help students first learn what they really want, and then help them achieve it. We believe this will enable more students to have outstanding experiences as student-athletes in college.

PSACC is founded on a belief in education through athletics. Recruiting has become an extension of the athletic experience and provides many learning opportunities. By advising prospective student-athletes through their recruiting and college selection process, we help students take advantage of these learning opportunities so that they can develop a better sense of who they are and what they want, while also maximizing their recruiting opportunities.

Claire Sheldon founded Prospective Student-Athlete College Counseling after spending three years as the Assistant Women’s Golf Coach at Harvard University. During her coaching career at Harvard, she assisted the Director of Golf in the recruiting process for both the men’s and women’s golf teams. She has seen first-hand what it takes to succeed in the recruiting process and as a Division I student-athlete. She has also lived the experience as a student-athlete at Harvard.

While Claire was coaching at Harvard, the women’s golf team won three Ivy League Championships and established their place as a powerhouse within the league and contender on the national level. Claire also served as an advisor to first year students. As a testament to her ability to connect with and mentor young adults, Claire was nominated for Harvard’s Star Family Prize for Excellence in Advising in 2014.

From 2010-2012, Claire was a teacher, admissions officer, and coach at The Taft School, a private boarding school in Connecticut.

At Taft she worked with high school students of all ages. Now, she draws on that experience as she works with PSACC clients; she knows what high school students can handle and makes them feel comfortable and confident throughout the process.

Claire graduated from Harvard in 2010 with a degree in Psychology. She was a four-year member of the women’s golf team and captain during her senior year. Claire set records for the lowest score in Harvard Women’s Golf history and still holds the record for most tournament wins. When she graduated, Claire received Harvard’s Paget Prize, an award given to the senior student who contributed the most to Harvard women’s athletics.

Still an avid golfer, Claire continued to play and compete on a state and national level. Most recently, Claire won the 2012 Massachusetts Women’s Amateur Championship. This was the second time that Claire won the event; she previously won the State Championship in 2007.

At the National level, Claire qualified for and played in the US Women’s Amateur Championship in 2009. She continues to compete at the National level as a Mid-Amateur.
