We used this to stick pictures from magazines up and then ripping them down was to show her finding herself and releasing her anger.

The reason we used this is because it created a dim light by the sofa and it made the room feel like its lonely and empty as it creates a dark place around the light bulb. Also we use flickering of the light to create a thundery shot to reflect her anger and frustration.
