ISO 9001 Quality Management System

ISO 9001 is an international total quality management systemstandard developed to help businesses achieve total customersatisfaction. In its simplest form, it is about identifying andunderstanding customer requirements and then focusing on meetingor exceeding them.

The ISO 9001 family of international quality management standardsand guidelines has earned a global reputation as the basis forestablishing quality management systems.

ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

ISO 14001 is often seen as the corner stone standard of the ISO14000 series. However, it is not only the most well known, but it isthe only ISO 14000 standard against which is currently possible to becertified by an external certification authority.

OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety & ISO 45001

OHSAS is an international occupational health and safetymanagement system specification. It comprises two parts, 18001 and18002 and embraces BS8800 and a number of other publications. Ithas been developed to be compatible with QMS ISO 9001:2008 andEMS ISO 14001:2004, in order to facilitate the integration of quality,environmental and occupational health and safety managementsystems by organizations.

Prevention of labor accidents and occupational dieses hastraditionally been seen as an employer’s legal and ethical obligation.However, nowadays it is generally accepted that the costs related toinjury and ill-health significantly reduce profits of organizations andentire economies.

With that kind of benefits, many organizations voluntary establishand implement the system in order to preserve the most valuableasset of the company – human intellectual asset.

While ISO 45001, is planning to replace OHSAS 18001 in order toharmonize with other ISO standards. The new standard is expected toroll out in 2017.

HACCP – The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point System

HACCP is a systematic approach to food safety which:

Principle 1Analyze hazards. Potential hazards associated with a food andmeasures to control those hazards are identified. The hazardcould be biological e.g microbe, chemical e.g toxin, or physicale.g glass or metal.

Principle 2Identify critical control points. These are points in a food’sproduction, from it raw state through processing and shippingto consumption by the consumer at which the potential hazardcan be controlled or eliminated. Examples are cooking, coolingand packaging.

Principle 3Establish preventive measures with critical limits for eachcontrol points. A minimum parameters e.g temperature, timeto ensure the elimination of any harmful microbes.

Principle 4Establish procedures to monitor the critical control points.Such procedures might include determining how and by whomthe parameters should be monitored.

Principle 5Establish corrective actions to be taken when monitoringshows that a critical limit has not been met. A decision on thefood that the parameters is not met e.g reprocessing ordisposing.

Principle 6Establish procedures to verify that the system is workingproperly. The devise to measures parameters is to verify inorder its working properly.

Principle 7Establish effective recordkeeping to document the HACCPsystem. This would include records of hazards and their controlmethods, the monitoring of safety requirements and actiontaken to correct potential problems.

Heholds a Degree in Engineering (Electrical) from Valparaiso University Indiana USAand Certificate in Safety & Health Officer (SHO 2082). He is also a competentChargeman AO registered with Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia, certified trainerfrom NIOSH and competent AGT (Authorize Gas Tester) – confined spacespecialist. He had also attended a specific training on LOTO (Log Out Tag Out)implementation at Grevenbroich, Germany.

He has about 12 years of working experience in Safety and Health which 1 yearexposure at ESSO and 9 years in multinational manufacturing company and hasattended numerous conferences, seminar and trainings held throughout thecountry organized by professional bodies. Nurulnadiah MuhammadNurulnadiah Muhammad is a trainer and consultant specializing in HALAL, FoodHandling and Food Safety Certification System (ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP andMESTI). Having worked in food manufacturing industry (MNC) for eight yearssince 2009, she brings with her all the knowledge, skill and experience during herperiod in the industry into her current field which is training and consulting.

Nurulnadiah is a certified Trainer with recognition from Ministry of Health,Malaysia to conduct Food Handler Programme for all food handlers withinMalaysia. Besides, she also a certified Trainer with recognition from HRDF(Human Resource and Development Fund) from Malaysian government throughTrain the Trainer programme. Currently she’s in progress of becoming certifiedProfessional Halal Consultant through Professional Halal Training Programme(IHRAM, USIM) recognised by JAKIM Halal Professional Board. Mr. Asri Abdullah, Master in OSH Risk Management.Mr. Asri Abdullah is Safety & Health Officer by profession, specializing inmanaging HSE Management System in oil and gas and petrochemicals industryfor about 11 years and facilitating HSE Training and Consultation for past 3 years.The career begins as Operation Team Leader at petrochemicals plant for 5 yearsbefore switch to work as HSE practitioner. In 2010, he joined one of marinesafety training academy as HSE Training Advisor. His major roles includesfacilitate theory and practical session of various courses for Oil & Gas industryincludes Survival course, Health & Safety and Skill Development. AZLINDA ABDUL AZIZ has been in the chemical and cosmetic industry for morethan 20 years. She has vast experience and knowledge in Good ManufacturingPractice (GMP) and quality system especially in cosmetic industry. Throughouther 20 years in the industry she had wide exposure working as a Chemist,involved in Quality Control field, as Quality Assurance Manager as well as aQuality Management Representative. Also members of the Quality Institute ofMalaysia.

In her career, she had managed to get the company to be certified with ISO 9001and ISO 22716 Cosmetic GMP certification.

She currently is also a certified Executive of Halal by JAKIM after she hadsuccessfully undergone the course conducted in USIM in the year 2016. She hadalso the opportunity of going through similar Halal course in Indonesia (LPPOMMUI). With the knowledge at hand she is strived on establishing an industry witha quality Halal status.
