Page 2: Proposal

As a group, we have decided to choose our own songs that we would like to make a music video to and then we will decide on the final song. We will do this by all giving our opinion on what song choice is best and what idea is best for the music video. We will then get our class mates to vote on the best ideas for the music video and song choice and then we will decide our final song choice.

Song Choice

Page 3: Proposal

The Pussy Cat dolls – BeepThis song was rejected because we felt that it was not upbeat enough and that in some parts of the song was too slow. We think that this isn’t the best song choice to make a music video too.

Destiny Childs- Lose my BreathThis song was rejected because even thought it was quite an upbeat song, it was too fast to lip sync too and also we felt that it would be hard to create as their music video for their song is very popular and well known.

Rejected Song Choices

Page 4: Proposal

Our group originally decided that the song ‘Don’t Know Why’ by SoundGirl was our final song choice. However, after looking back at the video, we decided we no longer wanted this to be our final song choice because we felt it was too summery and not upbeat enough. Also I don’t think we all really liked the song as much as we did and so I don’t think we would have enjoyed making it or had as many creative ideas for the video.

I think that we should follow a range of styles to make our music video unique and stand out. I think the style should be narrative but performative and concept based at the same time so that we have a bit of each in the music video.I think this will make it more fun and enjoyable to make but at the same time challenging and enjoyable to watch.

What style are you following?

Page 6: Proposal

We’ve decided that we all want to be in the video however we think that we should get other people to be part of the video for the dancers and if none of us want to be the lead singer then we will audition someone to be the lead female singer.

We will also auditions boys for the male part of the music video as their is a part where there is a male rapping and singing.

We will audition people for all these roles and then decide and make a final decision, the auditions will be filmed on camera.

Casting

My song choice is Cascada – Evacuate the dance floor.

I chose this song because it is very upbeat and energetic and I think it would be enjoyable to make a music video to. Also I think that it will not be too hard to lip sync to and I think it would be reasonable to edit and not to difficult to know when to cut the video and not.

We would be able to get a few creative ideas for this music video and then put all our ideas together to make a successful and enjoyable music video.

Song Choice

Page 8: Proposal

We do not have a firm idea of our music idea but we have a few little ideas that we can expand on and get our class mates views on and then finalise our idea.

I have an idea of creating a club atmosphere. At times the music video will be performative, where it will still have the club atmosphere and this will be created through the lighting such as flashing lights, maybe UV lights and through the clothing and make-up. At other times the video will be narrative where you will see the music video cut to a room full of people dancing with again, flashing lights etc, with close ups, long shots and panning of people.

We will also have scenes where the camera focuses on people who are professionally dancing.

The song and my decisionName of song: CommanderArtist: Kelly RowlandYear of release: 2010

The reason as to why I have decided that Kelly Rowland – Commander, would be a good song to use when recreating a music video is because the song is upbeat and the lyrics are at a medium speed which means that when it comes to lip syncing the song it should be an easier task.

IdeasThe current ideas which I am thinking of doing

with this music video is filming a group of teenage girls at a party dancing to this song. First of all we can see the girls “glamming”

themselves up before the beat drops in of the music which will then switch to them partying.

In the videos we could have dancers dancing to the music as well as shots which will be filmed in

the studio of the singer, singing the song.

To interest teenagers into our music video, we should aim to make it as lively as possible, with strobe lights, good fashion, different groups of

people and making it look fun!

What music video do I think is best? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf2vwAp

2XVU I propose that we should recreate the music

video ‘Up’ by The Saturdays, it is a fast paced ‘pop’ music genre type video which would be easy to recreate and lip sync too. I have chosen a ‘pop’ genre type video as it is easy to mix a narrative and performative storyline with.

Page 13: Proposal

Narrative or performative? I think that it would best to combine both of

these storyline types but with a wider focus on the performative type as the song is fast paced and one you would expect to dance to. As a girl group it is easier to create a performative type video as only dance moves would need to be choreographed as well as lighting techniques and editing. The narrative part of the music video could involve all members in our group and show us pushing away several men showing us ‘in control’ as mentioned in the lyrics.

Song Choice

The song I have chosen to record our music video to is Ian Carey Project – Get Shakey.

I think that this song will be a fun and enjoyable song to perform to as this can relate to being young.

The song is very up-beat which leads up to the beat dropping which will get the audience listening and because it is a known song and the lyrics are catchy it will be enjoyable to watch the video.

How will it be shot?

The type of music video that will be enjoyable for the audience would be narrative. This is when the music video tells a story, in which I think is enjoyable for the audience as you will want to keep watching.

Also within the music video it may be a good idea to have some aspects of performative within as this will be more interesting for the audience as you are mixing different techniques.

Which proposal? To decide which proposal to use, the class

we are presenting them to will decide which one most of them preferred. The one that is most favoured will be chosen for our music video to be recreated to.
