APPLICATIONS
TheMMseriesproportionalcontrolvalvesutilizeProportion-Airs unique closed loop controltechnology for superior control of pressurizedgases and fluids. The MM is designed to haveUniversal Mounting capabilities which includeDinRail, panelmount, ormanifoldmounting foruse on sub-base for multiple unit applications.Sub-baseconfigurationsareavailable from2-12units.Thesub-baseoffersacommonsupplyandexhaust port with individual controlled outletportstominimizeplumbingconnections.
The MM series units can be built as singleclosedloopordualclosedloop(cascadingloop)control valves. The MM1 and MM2 deliverpressurecontrolwhich is linearlyproportional toeither a DC current or DC voltage commandinput.The MM1 uses two solenoid valves to controlsystempressure.Onevalvefunctionsasaninletcontrol,theotherasanexhaustcontrol.Astraingaugepressuretransducermeasuresthesystempressure and provides a feedback signal to theelectronic controls. This feedback signal iscompared against the command signal. Any difference between the two signals causes one of the solenoid valves to open allowing pressure in or out of the system.
Closed loop proportional control of pressure ismaintainedinthismanner.
The MM2 is similar to the MM1 but uses adouble loop control scheme. In addition to theinternal pressure transducer, the MM2 alsoreceivesafeedbacksignal(0-10VdcStandard)fromanexternalsensingdevice.
The external signal functions as the primaryfeedback and is compared to the commandsignal. This comparison is summed with theinternal pressure transducer signal. A difference between the two comparisons causes one of the two solenoid valves to open allowing flow in or out of the system.
Since the secondary feedback is an electricalsignal,manytypesofsensorsmaybeusedasafeedback such as force, position, pressure,vacuum,etc.Ananalogoutput isalsostandardonboththeMM1andMM2tobeusedfordataacquisition or to a panel meter for display.The analog monitor signal is taken from theinternalpressuresensoronMM1sandfromthesecondaryfeedbackontheMM2.
