In the name Allah the most Merciful and the most Beneficent

-Eisa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) was the last of the Prophets sent to the Children of Israel. Then

after him Allah sent Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), from among the descendents

of Ismaa’eel, to all of mankind. And he is the last of the Prophets and Messengers.

-Muslims respect and revere Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him), and await his second coming. They

consider him one of the greatest of Allah’s messengers to mankind.

-About Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him):

-Indeed, the example of Eisa to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to

him, "Be," and he was. (Aali Imraan, 3: 59)

-The Messiah, son of Maryam, was not but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him.

And his mother was a supporter of truth. They both used to eat food. Look how We make clear to them

the signs; then look how they are deluded. (Al-Maidah, 5: 75)

- And We gave Eisa, the Son of Maryam, clear proofs, and We supported him with the Pure Spirit. (Al-

Baqara: 253)

-And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity, so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel

[Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds. (Al-Ambiya, 21: 91)

-Eisa was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the

Children of Israel. (Az-Zukhruf, 43: 59)

-And Zechariah and Yahiya and Eisa and Elias - and all were of the righteous. (Al-Anaam, 6: 85)

Some ahadith regarding him;

Page 2: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

-The Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "When any human being is

born. Satan touches him at both sides of the body with his two fingers, except Eisa, the son of Maryam,

whom Satan tried to touch but failed, for he touched the placenta-cover instead." (Bukhari: 3286)

-The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "On the night of my Ascent to the Heaven,

I saw Eisa, a man of medium height and moderate complexion inclined to the red and white colors and of

lank hair. (Bukhari: 3239)

-The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I passed by Eisa (during the night of his

Ascension to the Heavens) and he said, 'Welcome! O pious brother and pious Prophet.' I asked, 'Who is

he?' Gabriel replied, 'He is Eisa.' (Sahi Bukhari: 349)

-Allah's Apostle (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "I am the nearest of all the people to the

son of Maryam, and all the prophets are paternal brothers, and there has been no prophet between me and

him (i.e. Eisa)." (Bukhari: 3442)

-About his life:

Sureh 3 Aali Imraan: 42-56

42: And [mention] when the angels said, "O Maryam, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and

chosen you above the women of the worlds.

43: O Maryam, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in

prayer]."

44: That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. And you were not with

them when they cast their pens as to which of them should be responsible for Maryam. Nor were you with

them when they disputed.

Page 3: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

45 : [And mention] when the angels said, "O Maryam, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word

from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Eisa, the son of Maryam - distinguished in this world and the

Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah].

46: He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous."

47: She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such

is Allah; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is.

48: And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel

49: And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you

with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I

breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah. And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give

life to the dead - by permission of Allah. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your

houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers.

50: And [I have come] confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of

what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey

me.

51: Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path."

52: But when Eisa felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, "Who are my supporters for [the

cause of] Allah?" The disciples said, "We are supporters for Allah. We have believed in Allah and testify

that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].

53: Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger Eisa, so register

us among the witnesses [to truth]."

54: And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners.

55: [Mention] when Allah said, "O Eisa, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you

from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to

those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between

you concerning that in which you used to differ.

Page 4: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

56: And as for those who disbelieved, I will punish them with a severe punishment in this world and the

Hereafter, and they will have no helpers." But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will

give them in full their rewards, and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.

In Sureh Maryam : 27-35

16: And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Maryam, when she withdrew from her

family to a place toward the east.

17: And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented

himself to her as a well-proportioned man.

18: She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be

fearing of Allah."

19: He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy."

20: She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?"

21: He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the

people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.' "

22: So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.

23: And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died

before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."

24: But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.

25: And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.

26: So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have

vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.' "

Page 5: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

27: Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Maryam, you have certainly done a

thing unprecedented.

28: O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."

29: So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?" 30: [Eisa]

said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.

31: And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I

remain alive

32: And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.

33: And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."

34: That is Eisa, the son of Maryam - the word of truth about which they are in dispute.

35: It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to

it, "Be," and it is.

36: [Eisa said], "And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path."

37: Then the factions differed [concerning Eisa] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved from

the scene of a tremendous Day.

-Allah gave Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) the Injeel (the Gospel):

-And He (Allah) will teach him (Eisa) writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Injeel. (Aali Imraan, 3:

48)

-And We sent, following in their footsteps, Eisa, the son of Maryam, confirming that which came before

him in the Torah; and We gave him the Injeel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which

preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.(Al-Maidah, 5: 46)

Page 6: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

-Then We sent following their footsteps Our messengers and followed [them] with Eisa, the son of

Maryam, and gave him the Injeel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion

and mercy and monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except [that they did

so] seeking the approval of Allah. But they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave the ones

who believed among them their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient. (Al-Hadid, 57: 27)

-Teachings of Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him):

-And when Eisa brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you

some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me. Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord,

so worship Him. This is a straight path. But the denominations from among them differed [and separated],

so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day. (Az-Zukhruf, 43: 63-65)

-They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the Messiah, the son of Maryam" while the Messiah

has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others

with Allah – Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the

wrongdoers any helpers. (Al-Maidah, 5: 72)

- Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) did Miracles by Allah’s permission :

-And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a

sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I

breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah. And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give

life to the dead - by permission of Allah. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your

houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers. (Aali Imraan, 3: 49)

-The Day] when Allah will say, "O Eisa, Son of Maryam, remember My favor upon you and upon your

mother when I supported you with the Pure Spirit and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in

maturity; and [remember] when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Injeel; and when

Page 7: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

you designed from clay [what was] like the form of a bird with My permission, then you breathed into it,

and it became a bird with My permission; and you healed the blind and the leper with My permission; and

when you brought forth the dead with My permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from

[killing] you when you came to them with clear proofs and those who disbelieved among them said, "This

is not but obvious magic." (Al-Maidah, 5: 110)

-About Trinity :

-O People of the Scripture , do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The

Messiah, Eisa, the son of Maryam, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to

Maryam and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do

not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a

son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as

Disposer of affairs. (An-NEisa, 4: 171)

- Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) will deny divinity on the day of Judgement :

-And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Eisa, Son of Maryam, did you say to the people, 'Take me

and my mother as deities besides Allah ?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to

which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I

do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. I said not to them

except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over

them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You

are, over all things, Witness. (Al-Maidah, 5: 116-117)

-They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Maryam. Say, "Then who could

prevent Allah at all if He had intended to destroy Christ, the son of Maryam, or his mother or everyone on

the earth?" And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between

them. He creates what He wills, and Allah is over all things competent. (Al-Maaida, 5: 17)

Page 8: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

- Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) gave the glad tidings of prophet Mohammed (peace and

blessings of Allah be upon him):

-And [mention] when Eisa, the son of Maryam, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of

Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to

come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This

is obvious magic."(As-Saff, 61: 6)

-Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said "I was recorded with Allah as the

Seal of the Prophets, when Adam was still clay. I shall inform you of the beginning of my affair: the

supplication of (Prophet) Ibraheem (Abraham), the glad tidings of (Prophet) Eisa (Jesus) and the vision of

my mother which she saw when she gave birth to me. And there went out for her a light which

illuminated the palaces of Syria." (Mishkaat al-Masaabeeh: 5511)

-Allah raised Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) to the heavens:

-[Mention] when Allah said, "O Eisa, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from

those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those

who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you

concerning that in which you used to differ. (Aali Imraan, 3: 55)

Ibn Kathir explained about this in his Tafseer of Sureh Saff, 61:14;

Ibn Abbas said,

"When Allah decided to raise Eisa to heaven, Eisa went to his companions while drops of water were

dripping from his head. At that time, there were twelve men at the house. Eisa said to them, `Some of you

will disbelieve in me twelve times after having believed in me.'

He then asked, `Who among you volunteers that he be made to resemble me and be killed instead of me;

he will be with me in my place (in Paradise).'

Page 9: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

One of the youngest men present volunteered, but Eisa commanded him to sit down. Eisa repeated his

statement and the young man again stood up and volunteered, and Eisa again told him to sit down. Eisa

repeated the same statement and the young man volunteered. This time, Eisa said, `Then it will be you.'

The appearance of Eisa was cast upon that young man, while Eisa, peace be on him, was raised to heaven

through an opening in the roof of the house. The Jews came looking for Eisa and arrested the one that

appeared as him, killing him by crucifixion.

-As for the Prophet Eisa’s (peace be upon him) crucification, Allah says :

-And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Eisa, the son of Maryam, the messenger of

Allah." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to

them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the

following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. But Allah raised him [Eisa] up (with his

body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). And Allah is Ever All Powerful, All-Wise. (An-

Nisa, 4: 59)

- Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) will be the sign of Qiyamah (Judgment Day ) & will

descend on earth before it & will have natural death:

-His second coming will come at the end of time, when the Dajjaal will emerge. Allah will send Eisa

down to the earth, and he will be a leader of the believers who will rule them according to the Islamic

sharee’ah. He will kill the Dajjaal.

-And indeed, Eisa will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour(of Judgment), so be not in doubt of it, and

follow Me. This is a straight path. (Az-Zukhruf, 43: 61)

Ahadees on it :

Page 10: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

-Allah's Apostle (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is,

surely (Eisa,) the son of Maryam will soon descend amongst you and will judge mankind justly (as a Just

Ruler); he will break the Cross and kill the pigs and there will be no Jizya (i.e. taxation). Money will be in

abundance so that nobody will accept it, and a single prostration to Allah (in prayer) will be better than

the whole world and whatever is in it." Abu Huraira added "If you wish, you can recite (this verse of the

Quran): And there is none Of the people of the Scriptures (Jews and Christians) But must believe in him

(i.e Eisa as an Apostle of Allah and a human being) Before his death. And on the Day of Judgment He

will be a witness against them." (4: 159) [Bukhari: 3448]

- Allah's Apostle (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah would send Eisa, son of Maryam,

and he will descend at the white minaret in the eastern side of Damscus wearing two garments lightly

dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two angels. When he would lower his head, there

would fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he would raise it up, beads like pearls would

scatter from it. Every non-believer who would smell the odour of his self would die and his breath would

reach as far as he would be able to see. He would then search for him (Dajjal) until he would catch hold

of him at the gate of Ludd and would kill him. (Sahi Muslim: 7373)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: There is no prophet between me and him,

that is, Eisa (peace_be_upon_him). He will descent (to the earth). When you see him, recognise him: a

man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling

down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will

break the cross, kill swine, and abolish jizyah. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. He will destroy

the Dajjal (Antichrist) and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will

pray over him. (Abu Dawood: 4324)

Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) would certainly pronounce Talbiya for Hajj or for Umra;

Allah's Apostle (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life.

Ibn Maryam (Jesus Christ) would certainly pronounce Talbiya for Hajj or for Umra or for both

(simultaneously as a Qiran) In the valley of Rauha. (Sahi Muslim: 3030)

Page 11: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

-About Gog and Magog during the time of Prpohet Eisa (peace be upon him):

After killing Dajjal (Anti-Christ) Allah will reveal to Prophet Eisa;

-Allah will reveal to him: Eisa, I have brought forth some of My slaves whom no one will be . able to kill,

so take My slaves to Tur in safety and then Allah would send Gog and Magog, and they would swarm

down from every slope. The first of them will pass by the lake of Tibering and drink out of it. And when

the last of them will pass by & will say: There was once water there. Eisa and his companions would then

be besieged here (at Tur, and they would be so much hard pressed) that the head of the ox would be dearer

to them than one hundred dinars and Allah's Apostle Eisa and his companions would supplicate Allah,

Then Allah will send a insects in their (Gog & Magog) necks and the next morning they will all die as

one. Allah's Apostle Eisa and his companions would then come down to the earth and they would not find

in the earth as much space as a single span which is not filled with their stink, stench and blood. Allah's

Apostle Eisa, and his companions would then again beseech Allah, Who would send birds whose necks

would be like those of Bactrian camels and they would carry them and throw them where Allah would

will. (Ibn Majah: 4075)

-Saying Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) is a Son of God is Kufr, Allah Says :

-Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel by the tongue of David and of Eisa, the

son of Maryam. That was because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed. (Al-Maidah, 5: 78)

-The Jews say, "Ezra is the son of Allah "; and the Christians say, "The Messiah is the son of Allah." That

is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May

Allah destroy them; how are they deluded? They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides

Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Maryam. And they were not commanded except to worship one

God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him. (At-Tawba, 9:

30-31)

-The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in

devastation. That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son. (Maryam, 5: 90-91)

Page 12: Prophet Eisa [Jesus] (Peace Be Upon Him)Know About Him

CONCLUSION

Prophet Eisa (peace be upon him) a messenger of Allah revealed to convey to the people the religion

of Islam and to call them to worship Allah, their Creator. Muslims believe in his prophethood and in his

truthfulness in conveying that message. Prophet Eisa is alive now, living in the heavens,

worshipping Allah. He will return to earth before the Day of Judgment and will rule the Muslims with

the Shariah of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Praise be to Allah and Allah knows best.

“And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive.” (Sureh
