Ian Green, Legal Director at DLA Piper will review the latest changes being made to the planning regime in an attempt to deliver more growth, development and infrastructure pursuant to the Localism Act 2011, the Growth and Infrastructure Bill and the Government’s Red Tape Challenge. Ian has over 14 years’ experience in planning, highways and regeneration law, acting for both private and public sector clients. As well as client work for the likes of National Grid, Lewisham Borough Council and Land Securities, Ian also provides the DLA Piper Planning Team with up-to-the-minute legal knowledge and support. Martin Hutchings QC will discuss how to secure speedy settlements in dilapidations claims. This will cover: The Protocol – how to use and when to abuse it; Knocking out hopeless claims; Getting the valuers on side; Making effective offers; Mediation or negotiation or litigation? Martin specialises in all types of property litigation. He is recommended in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners in their Real Estate Litigation sections. The most recent edition of Chambers & Partners (2012) described him as providing: ‘thorough, clear and helpful’ advice in dilapidations claims and as offering ‘everything you would expect from a leader’ so much so that one recently interviewed opponent of his said: ‘I cannot speak highly enough of him, albeit through gritted teeth’
