Co-Pastor Anita C. Spaulding is the Co-Pastor of

the Ark of Safety Faith Center in Irvington, NJ.

She is the Founder and Host of: “A Godly

Woman’s View”, a Radio/TV Show, as well as the

Founder and Mentor of the Women2Women

Mentorship Program. In addition, she is the Author

of two books: “How Whosoever can have

Whatsoever” and “From Trials to Triumph”. In her

latest book, “From Trials to Triumph”, Co-Pastor

Spaulding chronicles her testimony of how she

overcame being raped on three different

occasions and abducted as a teenager. She is also a

nationally much-admired preacher, teacher, and

motivational speaker, who is considered one of the

greatest philanthropists of our time.

Her objective and mission in life is to empower,

encourage and inspire other individuals to become

all that God has called them to be through the

teachings and inspirations of the Word of God.

Her Radio/TV show, "A Godly Woman's View", is

making this desire a reality as she has developed

an audience that reaches all fifty states and abroad.

Therefore, it would profit you to introduce her to

your demographic, especially those who are in

need of encouragement, guidance, inspiration and

help. She is a prime example of what it means to

overcome; her testimony and ministry guarantee to

transform, and influence the lives of others in a

godly way.

Proverbs 14:1 says that,” A wise woman builds her

home but a foolish woman tears her home down by her

own hands.”

Page 11: Promoting Purpose Magazine

11

One of our greatest gifts towards a

husband can also be our demise if we

are not careful and constantly using

wisdom….our tongue. The words we

speak over our husbands and in the

atmosphere concerning our marriages

can either perpetuate great growth or

destroy our spouse’s manhood and

give the enemy a foothold in our

homes. By nature, women are built to

be emotional beings and if we are able

to harness our speech and cause it to

work for our good and utilize it to

cover our men in prayer, we could

transform many homes and even

regions. Life being spoken to a man on

behalf of his wife can be a life-

changing situation, transforming

underestimated, underused tool. A

man may never admit it, but when his

woman has every natural right, based

on a current situation to tell him

exactly how she feels in a negative

way, but instead speaks to the future of

what she knows in her heart he is, that

man is touched to his core.

When your current tight place in

marriage would seemingly be pushing

you to tell him about every lacking,

non-desirable attribute he possesses,

but instead the virtuous woman in you

arises and calls him your “priest,”

many men are forced to then check

their behaviors to see if they truly are

living up to their royal status.

The Word of God says that,” a

sanctified woman sanctifies her

house,” and that really speaks volumes.

If we, as women, have the authority to

sanctify an entire house, then we also

have enough power in our bosom to

destroy the manhood of the men that

are called to cover us. Having an

intimate prayer life with God is so very

vital before and especially during our

marriages because prayer can shift

things that mere strength and might

cannot. Prayer has the ability to

transform what seems to be the average

man into Clark Kent in the spirit,

without a wife having to lift a finger.

Prayer may not always yield immediate

results, but in our fervent prayer time,

if our hearts are pure, the Father has a

way of endowing us with such a

sovereign peace and grace to endure

while He is performing His great work

on our husband’s behalf.

Page 12: Promoting Purpose Magazine

12

Sadly enough, many of us view

prayer in the same manner in

which we view a gumball

machine. We place a quarter in

the machine (prayer) and always

expect immediate results, and

when we do not receive them, we

faint and believe that it was not

meant to be. But, the amazing

part about praying for someone

and not about them is that

sometimes God will first change

us so that we can now better

handle the situation while He is

working on it. Who would have

thought that we would need some

changing at times as well?

I sometimes believe that God

Himself has a sense of humor as

well. One key factor when

desiring the Father to work out

quirks in our spouse is that we

also have to be willing to fix our

own deficiencies as well in order

for the marriage to truly run as

Christ first intended it.

Our words and actions are

capable of building beautiful sky

scrapers in our marriages,

mending fences that seemed

hopelessly un repairable and

restoring years of lost beauty

back to its rightful place.

The flipside is those lips can cause great

calamity to fall on our home, and force our

husbands to believe that no effort given by

them would be acceptable to us, so there is

no use trying. Picking our articulations and

our battles are key factors in growing

healthy relationships that set a good

example not just for us, but also for our

future grandchildren. Taking the time to

choose our words and our prayers to heal

on purpose is worth the work and worth the

wait.

THE EDGE…..

In the world that we live, people are

always looking for a thrill. If the

adrenaline isn’t flowing, then you’re not

having fun. People jump off of bridges

and mountains and call it base jumping.

Drag racers go a quarter mile in 4

seconds driving an astounding 300 mph!

The world of fashion is pushing the

boundaries of clothing where being

practically naked is now the norm. To

ingest several drugs at the same time,

gives you a high that is out of this world.

This is what most would call extreme

behavior, but it all started with the edge.

Edge is defined as the border line or area

that is the outermost part of something; the

brink; the point of movement just before a

marked change or event.

Extreme behaviors and actions just don’t

happen overnight. It’s a subtle progression

to bigger and more extreme things. After

separating from Abram, Lot chose live in

the plain of Sodom (Genesis13:10-12). Lot

knew of the great sins that were in Sodom,

yet chose to live on the outskirts of that

country.

Page 15: Promoting Purpose Magazine

15

Now, if Lot would’ve just stayed on

the edge and watched from a distance,

it probably would’ve been ok. But as

the scripture says, we are drawn away

by our own lust. In Genesis 19:1, Lot

has moved from the edge of the

country, and now he’s sitting at the

gate of this same country. So, you can

imagine all the wickedness he saw

coming in and out of Sodom on a

daily basis. Instead of going away

from there, he was drawn to it! Verse

9 says that he became a resident of

Sodom! How can someone make such

a progression? Because he wasn’t

satisfied with just being on the edge,

he had to go all the way in so he

could see Sodom up close and

personal! These actions of Lot not

only affected him, but it affected his

entire family. When the angels

spoke to Lot saying that they were

going to destroy Sodom and

Gomorrah, it didn’t even faze him.

Matter of fact, they were so linked to

the place that the angel had to drag

them out of there! We, as believers,

should never get so comfortable with

sin that we have to be dragged away

from it! The angels told them to go to

the mountains, but Lot wanted to stay

in the next town of Zoar: Far enough

away not to get burned, yet close

enough to smell the smoke!

Lot started out in one location but ended in

quite another! If Lot would’ve stayed in Sodom,

there is no doubt that he too would have

become involved with the exact same

wickedness that he saw around him. But, thank

God he had an uncle interceding to God for

him. If Abram wasn’t standing in the gap,

certainly he would’ve gotten destroyed with the

rest. Brothers and Sisters: Don’t think for a

moment that we can dabble in any kind of sin

and not get caught up. Many gaze in curiosity,

but then after a while, that becomes boring and

you want to experience what you have been

thinking about, yielding finally to temptation.

Once a person yields to the temptation, then

you have crossed into sin, and once that

pleasure of sin for a season is complete, then

death follows. We must ask ourselves a serious

question: “Why go to the edge of anything that

can cost me my walk with Christ, which can

cost me to lose my family, and ultimately cost

me my life?” Once we get to the edge of

something in our flesh, it’s not something that

we can easily turn away from, but if we are

willing to submit our lives to the Lord, He will

be there to help us to resist the enemy. The

edge is just a border of something, but once that

edge has been crossed, then we set ourselves up

to become pawns of Satan. May the Lord

strengthen each of you to make the right

decisions and not to be drawn away with things

that can result in great loss of time, effort, and

ultimately your soul.

Peace and Blessings! Rachel M Moore, PPM

Joy Says:

I am very content in the state I am in. I love my life. All I have been through has made me a better more mature person in Christ. I love to have fun within the boundaries of the Word and I am willing to go and do all that is required of me to make my life and the lives of others better.

Joy Harris, author of

Authentic Joy and Radio

host of Sunday Morning

Praise 107.9 The Beat out

of Lexington Kentucky, is

also a Bible teacher,

inspirational speaker, and

the CEO of Inspiring You

To Be….Ministries. This

Woman of God has

empowered many to seek

out their purpose and has

challenged them to walk

and fulfill what God has

called them to do. Joy

founded Inspiring You To

Be… Ministries with a

mission to: encourage,

inspire, and build the

Christian faith of people

world-wide through

spiritual-coaching,

counseling, teaching,

inspirational speaking

and serving.

Joy has allowed God to

use her in many ways,

and because of it, her

ministry is said to be

dynamic and has

brought hope, healing

and affirmative change

to the lives of many.

CEO Sherrell

Valdezloqui had the

opportunity to speak

with Joy Harris during

a radio interview.

Sherrell says: “Joy

Harris is indeed

serious about the

work she is doing in

the kingdom. When

she talks, it is of

sincerity along with

excitement. If you’re

down, by the time

you’re finished

speaking with Joy,

you’ll be smiling and

full of Joy again”.

Joy Harris is always

on the move. So, one

of the main questions

PPM wanted to know

was “How does she

juggle her ministry,

career and still find

time to be in the

Presence of the

Lord?”

Page 19: Promoting Purpose Magazine

19

PPM: Who is Joy Harris?

JOY: I am a daughter, sister, mother and

grandmother. I hold a BA in Organizational

Management and a Masters of Art in Mental

Health Counseling. I am the founder of Inspiring

You To Be…Ministries, an author, radio host of

Sunday morning Praise on 107.9 The Beat

WBTF.FM, experienced inspirational speaker

and a popular mistress of ceremonies and

keynote speaker. I speak at churches, women and

youth groups, conferences, workshops, seminars

and business organizations. But, most

importantly I am a servant leader of the most High God. My

assignment is to invest in the lives others encouraging them to embrace

the gift of greatness inside by challenging them to seek and live a

purpose-filled life. I am an exhorter seeking to empower others to walk

in their God ordained purpose and destiny. Having said that, all my

gifts and talents, all the accomplishments I have achieve and all that I

do would not be possible without Christ’s sacrifice on the cross on my

behalf.

PPM: Tell us about your ministry: Inspiring You To Be….

Ministries. What is the mission, and what made you start Inspiring

You To Be Ministries?

JOY: The mission of Inspiring You To Be... Ministries (IY2B) is to

encourage, inspire and build the Christian faith of people world-wide

through spiritual coaching, counseling, teaching, inspirational

speaking and serving. I started Inspiring You To Be…Ministries

because of a mandate from God. He walked along side of me through a

period of devastation and positioned me into destiny by giving me the

vision to start IY2B Ministries in 2009 after the death of my father.

God knew I needed something to give me a spiritual heartbeat after flat

lining from the pain. Inspiring You To Be…Ministries was an avenue

for me to take the focus off of myself [canceling the pity party] and turn

my attention to building and advancing the Kingdom of God here on

earth by edifying others by pouring the love of Christ into their lives.

Since the birth of IY2B...Ministries, God has allowed souls to be saved,

lives to be transformed, and God is glorified. I am humbled to be able

to come along side of God to invest in the lives of His beloved children.

Page 20: Promoting Purpose Magazine

20

PPM: How are you “promoting purpose” in your community?

JOY: I am “promoting purpose” in my community through a variety of

outlets. I truly believe one who does not serve the community,

attempting to promote justice and equality, is not fully operating in the

capacity of a Christian nor are they fully following the example that

Christ displayed. I serve on the Step By Step (SBS) board….which is an

organization that serves and offers support to underprivileged, unwed

mothers and their children. I am also a small support group leader at

SBS, where I teach life and parenting skills, along with offering

mentorship in order help these young mothers break the cycle of curses

that have plagued their families for generations so they can be

productive positive God-fearing citizens. I also mentor the Georgetown

College Gospel Choir [Joyful Noise]. I truly believe in investing into

our future generation. So, I teach a Bible study and offer mentorship to

the choir members as a source of support while they are away from

home, striving to fulfill their life dreams. I also teach a large study

group for 12 weeks each year to encourage, inspire and build up

women across Kentucky. The last class had eight different churches

and four ethnic groups represented. My passion is to reach outside the

four walls of the church, crossing all boundaries in order for everyone

to experience the love of Christ by any godly means necessary. These

are just a few examples of my labor of love to” promote purpose” in

my community.

PPM: With everything that you’re doing how do you balance your

work, ministry and etc and still find time to meditate and spend

time with God?

JOY: I am under the opinion that if I start my day in quiet mediation

with God, then everything will fall into place. So, I follow the example

found in Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your

mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be

careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will

make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” If I

can take time to do all the things I want and need to do throughout the

day, then I can take time out to spend time with God. Therefore, I strive

to set aside time every morning [and night] to spend time in fellowship

Page 21: Promoting Purpose Magazine

21

with God, and I get on a prayer call [Purpose Center International]

every morning at 8 am to either jump start or conclude my quiet time

with God. Also, I make a God and Joy “To do list” that helps me to

stay on task to accomplish my God and personal assignments for each

day.

PPM: What’s next for Joy? And where can others find more

information about you and your work?

JOY: I have several assignments that I plan to start before the end of

the year. These assignments include: starting my second book that will

deal with how to walk in extraordinary faith, and I am planning a

webinar in December to preface the book. In addition to the book, I am

planning a women’s conference in the spring…This is all in

conjunction with the speaking engagements and events I already have

on my calendar. To find out more information about me and my

upcoming events, I encourage people to visit my website at

www.inspiringyoutobe.com and also connect with me on Facebook

[Joy Harris] and twitter [authenticjoy10].

Thank you Joy for allowing PPM to interview you during your

extremely busy schedule. We pray much success on the current and

future assignments God gives to you….

WHO CARES ABOUT

THE DEBT CEILING? Who cares about the debt ceiling?

You should. As an American and a

Believer, there are events taking

place in the financial world that are

affecting areas ranging from

employment to retirement. August

1st of this year marked the day the

United States raised the debt ceiling

to avoid defaulting on their loans.

This isn’t the first time the debt

ceiling has increased. In fact, it’s

been raised 74 times since 1962. The

media may make it sound more

sophisticated by mentioning things

like GDP or budget and trade deficits.

But in layman’s terms, the country is

borrowing more than it can afford to

pay back. Sound familiar?

Page 23: Promoting Purpose Magazine

23

Our culture has made debt

seem automatic when it

comes to financing things

like cars, houses, and even

tuition. After all, who can

afford to pay for such large

ticket items in cash? How

would someone even

accomplish such a task?

Believe it or not, the answer

is not hard. In fact, it’s a

simple one: save and invest.

I know there are readers

who are probably thinking,

“I’ve heard that speech

before,” but allow me to

share a different

perspective.

At a time when Egypt was

viewed as a world power,

famine was about to plague

the land. Out of all of

Pharaoh’s court, which

today would be our

governing bodies, no one

knew what to do. No one

except an ex-convict

brought out of prison named

Joseph.

His solution to a nationwide problem was

this: save and invest, 20% to be exact. Now

this may seem like a large percentage to

some of us, but consider how much could

be saved, if money used to pay for luxury

items that we’ve labeled necessities, went

into a savings account that was actually

used for savings.

If God, who never changes, gave Joseph

such insightful wisdom that saved a

nation, why are we replacing His wisdom

with our own? We are advised to stay out

of debt and to be the lender and not the

borrower. So, how did we become

seduced into abandoning those

principles? I am not implying that it is a

sin to borrow. Even the Bible records a

woman instructed to “borrow” vessels.

The problem occurs when we start to

believe borrowing is the only way instead

of just a way. If we can extend our faith

for God to grant us favor for loan

approvals, imagine the wisdom we could

receive if He, who owns the cattle on a

thousand hills, gave us the instruction we

need to live debt free and in abundance. It

is possible, as a matter of fact, it’s

promised to us. It begins with us asking

ourselves individually and as a nation

“Do we want to raise our debt ceiling

again?” By: J.C. Stevenson

False Leaders and Teachings, Believers are Warned

(Unleashing the Spirit, Vol. 2, “False Teachings, Leadership,

and False Prophets” chapter 2) by Prophetess Adrienna Turner

Jude 24-25, as the letter begins; it also

ends, with the assurance that God

keeps believers from falling prey to

false teachers. Although false teachers

are widespread and dangerous, we do

not have to be afraid if we are rooted

and grounded in Him. To be sinless

and faultless will be the ultimate

condition of the believer when he or

she finally sees Christ face to face.

When Christ appears, and we are given

our new bodies, we will be like

Christ.1 Coming into Christ’s presence

will be more wonderful than we could

ever imagine! The audience to whom

Jude wrote was vulnerable to heresies

and to temptations toward immoral

living. Jude encouraged the believers

to remain firm in their faith and trust in

God’s promises for their future of an

eternal lifestyle. This was more

important because they were living in

a time-increased apostasy. We, too, are

living in the last days, much closer to

the end than were the original readers

when this letter was written. We, too,

are vulnerable to doctrinal error. We

need not to be afraid or give up in

despair—God can keep us from

falling, and He guarantees that if we

remain faithful, He will bring us into

His presence and give us everlasting

joy.1

Moreover, Jude concludes the letter

with exuberant praise for the Lord,

who alone could keep the readers

from being deceived. Stumbling

refers to the possibility of being

tripped up by the false teachers’

errors. Jude does not use the word

falling, but stumbling. Only a person

who is already walking or running

can stumble, which can be viewed as

the biblical images of the Christian

life.1 God is able to keep us from

stumbling.1 God guards us, despite

all the dangers and pitfalls that

deceivers put in our way. Faultless,

according to the Greek, sacrificial

animals that had no blemish were fit

to be offered to God. Only God can

save us, cleanse us, and present us to

Him as faultless, for God is the

Author and Perfecter of our faith.11

We, at GTP, would like to salute one of the hardest-working, unsung

musicians (Bass, Lead & Rhythm Guitar, as well as Lead &

Background Vocals) in the quartet music world. We introduce to some

and present to others: Gary "Troof" Timmons of Eastern Shore,

Maryland. “Troof,” as we know him, began his musical journey at the

age of eight years old, singing and learning to play the guitar next to his

father, Arthur "Tim" Timmons and the Traveling Echoes of

Wilmington, DE, and other mentors, Deacon Ross and Jimmy Watson

of Wilmington, DE.

“Troof” really enjoys ministering God’s word through song; using his

many talents to help someone along the way. He has had the privilege of

working with many artists including: True Church Mass Choir, The

Mighty Aires, and Serena Ford and the Serena Ford Singers, of

Wilmington, DE; Kenny Davis & The Melodyaires of Baltimore, MD;
