Transcript of Promote YT membership letter
November 2010
Dear Supporter,
We are delighted that since the launch of the Promote YT Membership Scheme since 2009 over 50 youth theatre groups,
associated organisaons and individual praconers from across Scotland have joined.
There is no doubt that turbulent mes are ahead for us all in the arts in Scotland but together we are stronger and with your
connued support Promote YT is commi%ed to supporng groups, projects and people, and to developing and creang
sustainable opportunies for youth theatre made in Scotland - on a local, naonal and global scale. Our iniaves , projects and
pla(orms running up to July 2011 therefore include:
⇒ A dynamic, informave new Promote YT website built to tell the world about you! (and building on the success of our
current site - over 20,000 unique visits so far in 2010)
⇒ Four SKILL UP Xtra Training Days
⇒ A ‘Freelancers Development and Networking’ Day
⇒ SKILL UP Naonal training and networking conference 2011 (Borders - March 25th to March 27th)
⇒ Naonal Fesval of Youth Theatre ‘Summer Gathering’ 2011 (Fife - July 14th to July 17th)
To reinforce this work we are delighted to announce an ambious staff restructuring which will enable us to work more closely
with the sector and focus our resources on supporng you directly.
In my new role as Parcipaon and Training Manager, members should see me as your first point of call for any youth theatre
related enquiries you might have. I will be producing a series of online resources available to members, including documents
advising on Child Protecon, Health and Safety, Starng a Youth Theatre, Insurance, and Funding. I will also be compiling
advice documents specifically aimed at Freelance arsts. I can only do this with your support and will be calling upon the
membership to contribute ideas and content, so that we can create a comprehensive, robust resource.
Our membership is open, accessible and welcoming and by growing our community we will be able to demonstrate how vital
youth theatre is to the lives of young people in Scotland to funders, educators, press, parents, parcipants and audiences of the
future. It is therefore imperave to us that we not only sustain but also build on our current membership.
In return for your support through the 2010/11 Membership, Promote YT will offer you:
⇒ Digital Membership Pack including: Associate member logo, digital media training resources, a guide to making the most
of Promote YT online, event reports, and more...

“What I most noce this year was the difference in the awareness of praconers as
belonging to a 'sector' and the responsibility and arculacy with which people were
able to talk about this. I think this is all down to the existence of Promote YT”
