1.4 Reference Market The passage, as it has been observed in the last decade, from an economy based on manufacturing to one oriented to information and then to knowledge, has led to the intensification of links between science and technology, the emergence of various mechanisms of interaction and links between research institutions and production companies in manufacturing and services, with increasing attention to the processes of transfer and exploitation of scientific research results from producers to users. Increasingly, the outposts of the university community are already in the phase of active technology transfer, and agreements and alliances in R&D are passed to equity-type agreements that stimulate the development and commercialization of the results of research carried out at interior. In particular, in some sectors and geographical areas (regions, nation-states) is growing, therefore, an environment encouraging for the emergence of new business initiatives, based on the ability to sell and "enhance" the research results. Among these, the spin-off of research, namely those entrepreneurial born by spin-off from academic or public research institutions. The spin-off of research arise when a group of researchers is detached from a particular public research organization to constitute a core business independently. The spin-off research play a special role in this "knowledge market", especially since most of the spin-off of a strictly industrial (i.e. spin-off from companies) are a mechanism for the transfer of knowledge resulting from pre-competitive research to the industrial applications. Among the spin-off is necessary to distinguish between firms that respond to the processes of outsourcing of big business (they do what they dont want or can no longer do) and those which operate in a technology-push logic in an attempt to bring to the end market innovative products and services based on expertise gained in research. In this type (technology-push) definitely fits the PROMETE Srl, founded as a spin off Company of INFM, Italian National Institute for the Physics of Matter, which operates in the field of innovation and technology transfer, with the strategic objective of strengthening the connection between research and manufacturing base, through the structuring of activities to transfer know-how to companies. PROMETE works primarily with players on the regional market, but with the valence interlocutors often international, opening up to national and international collaborations.

1.5 Partnership between PROMETE and Public Research Institutions -Since May 1999 PROMETE is officially recognized as a Spin off of INFM (Italian National Institute for the Physics of Matter) through an agreement that guarantees the Company and its employees access to the facilities of the Institute at national level and use an office on INFM Unity of Naples, the Convention has been gradually renewed until today, when INFM is included in the Italian National Research Council (CNR), and currently PROMETE holds a spin-off agreement with the National Research Council, which facilitates agreements of collaboration and for the use of laboratories. -Research Agreement dated 16/01/2003 with the Institute of Cybernetics "Eduardo Caianiello" of the National Research Council - Pozzuoli (NA) for the execution of research related to the development of technologies SQUID (Superconductive Quantum Interference Device) at high temperature critical use applications. -In November 2003 PROMETE signs a partnership agreement with the National Institute of Research & Development for Technical Physics (Institutul National de Cercetare Dezvoltare pentru tehnica Physics), Iasi (Romania). -In May 2004 the President of the Region of Iasi ("cultural capital" of Romania: 7 universities and 30 research centers) signs a partnership agreement for technology transfer with PROMETE.

1.6 PROMETE Laboratory PROMETE laboratory is credited among the Regional Subjects enabled to the provision of consulting services and research activities supporting innovation and scientific and technological development of SMEs in Campania Region (executive decree n. 450 of the Campania Region of 13.07.2005).

    - On 28/11/2001, PROMETE founded the CONSORTIUM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL DISTRICTS FOR THE OBSERVATIONS OF THE EARTH - COS (OT) acquiring a 2% share of the Consortium Fund (Euro 10,030). The Consortium has received funding from the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) for a research and pre-competitive development, lasting three years, worth about 19 MLN Euro under the Measure 1.3 of the National Operational Research Plan. The PROMETE project activity (209 MEuro, financing 75%) involved the design and implementation of a measurement station based on SQUID sensor (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) for geophysical surveys in the open field. PROMETE activities: design and implementation of a measurement station based on SQUID sensor (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) geophysical surveys in the open field. In particular, such a station is designed in order to be able to monitor magnetotelluric spectrum in the frequency range between mHz and 30 Hz. The data acquired by the experimental station being processed and compared with those obtained by magnetometric stations of conventional type. The project was funded by MIUR (OJ 209 of 09.06.2002) under Measure I.3 "R & D in strategic areas of the south Italy" of the National Operational Program. The Group consisted of a network of research centers and universities, the Consortium COS (OT) with the participation of large companies and SMEs and a system of end users. Scientific partners: Institute of Methodologies for Environmental Analysis, National Research Council (CNR), University Centre for Environmental Monitoring, based in Genoa and Potenza, Dept. of Chemical Engineering - University "Federico II", Department of Physics - Polytechnic of Bari National Institute of Physics, Department of Territorial Engineering-University of Cagliari; Dep. di Economics and Woody Systems - University of Sassari; Agro-ecosystem Monitoring Section of the Institute. of Biometeorology, National Research Council. Initial composition of the Consortium COS (OT): CAE Srl based in Bologna; Hydrodata S.p.A. based in Turin; TELESPAZIO S.p.A. based in Rome; ELDES S.r.l. based in Florence; Physis S.r.l. based in Florence; Intema S.r.l. based in Potenza; Seleta S.r.l. based in Potenza; CRATI S.C.p.A. located in Rende, PROMETE Srl, based in Naples, CRS4 SCpA based in Cagliari; Agrometeorological Regional Service Srl based in Sassari; SINTESI Sas-based in Potenza Technical Services: ARPA Campania; Hydrographic Office and Tidal of Bari (Presidency of the Council of Ministers); Hydrographic Office and Tidal of Catanzaro (Presidency of the Council of Ministers). - July 2002-July 2003 (67 MEuro, financing at 60%) Campania Region - POR 2000/2006, Measure 3.17: "Definition of procedures for measuring electromagnetic emissions and characterization in laboratory of commercial instrumentation " - November 2004 - November 2006 (36,600 Euro, financing 70%) PRIN - SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PROGRAMMES OF RELEVANT NATIONAL INTEREST (Ministerial Decree no. 30 of February 12, 2004) Area 02: Physical Sciences (100%) Department of Physics, University Federico II of Naples (coord.
