Saint Lucia Implementation Stage (1)

• Partner Institute: Central Statistical Office– MOU in effect since October 2007

• Data Collection: April-December 2008 (Three quarters)—launched last week!

• Last ECLAC mission: 7-9 April 2008 • Phase I (LFS)

– Sample size: 3,000 households in 3 rounds– Sample size enlarged by 750 households in each

round– Over-sampling in some districts to capture

tourism and mining activities to have a more representative sample of HUEMS for Phase II

Saint Lucia Implementation Stage (2)

• Phase II (HUEM Survey)– Agriculture not included– No sampling: survey of all HUEMs associated with

own-account workers and employers identified through Phase I

– Expected number of HUEMs522

Mongolia Implementation Stage (1)

• Partner: National Statistics Office– LOA in effect since October 2007

• Data collection July 2007-June 2008– July 2007-March 2008 completed (currently

in the fourth and last quarter of data collection)

• Phase I – Two-stage stratified sample design– Sample Size: 7,100 households (annual)

In the first quarter 1,724 households (4,641 individuals were surveyed => 2,553 employed during the reference period)

• Phase II– Agricultural enterprises not in scope– No sampling: survey of all HUEMs

associated with own-account workers and employers identified through Phase I

– Sample size:• 1st quarter: 441 HUEMs were identified and

surveyed• 2nd quarter: 425 HUEMs were identified and

surveyed

• Data review and data processing– Desk review—ESCAP reviewed data from 1st

quarter and now reviewing 2nd quarter data– Data processing & tabulation Last ESCAP

multi-stage stratified sample design

• Phase II – Covers all economic activities– Sample design is in the process of being finalized– Maximum number of HUEMs expected to be surveyed:

10,000• Next steps: Data collection, processing, tabulation and

analysis

Sri Lanka Preparatory Stage (1)• Partner: Department of Census and Statistics
