Project: Hellfire
A short history
Colonel Jann Corsaen of the Imperial Military on the planet Fest hated the Rebel Alliance
just as much as he did the local Festian resistance groups. Inspired by the Tarkin Doctrine (which
decreed methods of ruling the galaxy through fear and was one of the principle reasons behind
the creation of the Death Star battle station), Corsaen set about developing a project that would
allow him to both crush the Festian Resistance and also possibly help the empire to drive the
rebels into surrendering. Using the Zeldra Imperial Station, Corsaen began developing the
weapons alongside a small group of scientists and the wookie slaves he kept as servants at his
base.
Thus, Project: Hellfire was born. The parameters of the project are simple. It is a weapon
deployed similar to a proton bomb, only loaded with a special compound designed to explode in
a massive fireball with a high area of effect (AOE) followed by a shrapnel-like effect of burningdebris raining down in an even further arc from the original explosion site. Though not entirely
designed for effective destruction, the Hellfire bombs are intended to be a terrifying site to
anyone, especially given the after-effects of the shrapnel. According the Tarkin Doctrine, it
classifies as an effective fear-inducing weapon.
Work on the project began in simulations, though it seemed unlikely that a full test could be
performed without anyone getting wind of it (in particular with the competition at the Weapons
Research Facility overseen by Moff Kohl Seerdon). Corsaen, however, caught a lucky break in
the form of the 105th
Stormtrooper Platoon led by Commander Brezzic Marr. Along with a select
group of the elite 501st Legion, the 105 had been sent there to aid the local forces in defeating theresistance. Given the platoons bad reputation of being incompetent soldiers, Corsaen took the
opportunity to prepare a test.
While on a mission to track down a small resistance base, a squad of 15 stormtroopers consisting
of members of both the 501st
and the 105th
were on patrol when the Hellfire missile was
deployed. The resistance base was destroyed on impact, killing 3 of the troopers sent to scout and
at least 14 resistance fighters. The flaming rain that came down resulted in the casualties of 8
other troopers. The only survivors of the attack were two unidentified 501st
soldiers and Corporal
Benjamin Trudane and Sergeant Alexander Starkline of the 105th
.
At first officially blamed on the Festian Resistance group, the survivors from the 105th
soon
reviewed footage taken by Corporal Trudanes helmet camera. The bomber turned out to be an
experimental type being developed at Seerdons facility (later revealed to have been stolen by
Corsaens troops.) Corsaen found out about the footage from another 105th
trooper, Corporal
Marlowe Sanders, who was not involved in the patrol, and offered Sanders a position on his

Storm Commando team in exchange for the names of the troopers who had the footage. Corsaen
then proceeded to call Starkline and Trudane into his office and offered them the same positions.
Both 105 troopers refused, leading the Colonel to draw his sidearm on them only to be wounded
by a shotgun blast from Commander Brezzic Marr.
The three 105th traitors then attempted to escape the station only to be confronted by Skimara,
one of the wookie slaves. She revealed that she was a spy for the Rebellion who had been sent
there to both rescue the slaves and report back on the activities of the Festian Resistance. The
four proceeded to free the slaves, arm them, and then escaped as the wookies proceeded to wreck
the facility in vengeance for their enslavement (at this time its not known what happened to the
wookies as much of the security camera footage is corrupted, though its assumed that they
escaped given the number of missing shuttles.)
The three 105 troopers and Skimara proceeded to fight their way out of the facility and were
subsequently extracted from the planet by a Captain Cristella Murianas, an acquaintance ofSergeant Starklines. The Captain convinced her crew to aid in the escape and later submitted her
frigate, theDark Predator, to the Alliances fleet and subsequently continued the secret
operations she had been doing, only now for the Alliances side with Skimara as one of her top
agents. Trudane and Starkline joined the Alliance as soldiers while Marr left to strike out on his
own as a mercenary.
As for the project, Zeldra Station was forcefully shut down on orders from the Emperor himself,
with Darth Vader supposedly carrying the order out personally. However, the data was never
recovered and Colonel Corsaen never revealed where on the station the data was kept, choosing
instead to commit suicide via a grenade, taking the secret of Project: Hellfire to his grave.
