Yardages and cutting instructions are based on 42" of usable fabric width.Measurements include ¼" seam allowances for pieced blocks and ½" seam allowances for pillowcase construction. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.

Assemble BlocksUse a ¼" seam allowance for the following steps.

1. Referring to Diagram 1, sew together four assorted print 13⁄4" squares in pairs. Press seams in opposite directions. Join pairs to make a Four-Patch unit. Press seam in one direction. The unit should be 3" square including seam allowances.

Repeat to make eight Four-Patch units total.

2. Referring to Diagram 2, lay out one Four-Patch unit, four remaining assorted print 13⁄4" squares, and four assorted print 13⁄4×3" strips in three horizontal rows. Sew together each row. Press seam allowances in one direction, alternating direction with each row. Join the rows to make a block. Press seam allowances in one direction. The pieced block should be 51⁄2" square including seam allowances.

3. Repeat Step 2 to make eight blocks total.

Assemble BandUse a ¼" seam allowance for the following steps.

1. Sew together eight blocks in a row (Band Assembly Diagram). Press seams in one direction. The block row should be 51⁄2×401⁄2" including seam allowances.

2. Sew print No. 1—51⁄2×401⁄2" strip to long edge of block row (Band Assembly Diagram). Press seam in one direction. The unit should be 101⁄2×401⁄2" including seam allowances.

3. Join ends of Step 2 unit to make a loop. Fold loop in half lengthwise with wrong side

inside; press to make pillowcase band.

Assemble PillowcaseUse a ½" seam allowance for the following steps, except where noted.

1. Fold print 253⁄4×41" rectangle in half to form a 253⁄4×201⁄2" rectangle. Sew together long edges and one pair of short edges to make pillowcase body. Turn right side out and press flat.

2. Slide pillowcase band over pillowcase body, match raw edges, and pin. Sew together through all layers using a 1⁄4" seam allowance (Diagram 3).

3. Press pillowcase band open, pressing seam toward pillowcase body. Topstitch 1⁄8" from band edge on pillowcase body to secure the seam allowances and complete pillowcase (Diagram 4).
