Project Fact Sheet 14633J – NB & SB Mainline from Exit 1 to Exit 5 RebuildingI93.com Project Overview Project 14633J addressed the I-93 northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) mainline construction elements to implement the full four lane facility from Exit 1 in Salem to just north of Exit 3 in Windham (approximately 4.8 miles of southbound and 6.1 miles of northbound). This work involved shoulder reconstruction on the median side, establishing the supporting pavement structure, drainage modifications, guardrail, paving, overlay, pavement marking, and signing elements. This project also completed the corridor wide Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) implementation from Exit 1 to just north of Exit 5, including integration into the statewide ITS network. Finally, the project also installed Motor Vehicle Detection Systems (MVDS) permanent traffic counting equipment between Exits 1 and 2, and between Exits 2 and 3. The overall project covered approximately 14.4 miles. Construction was completed in the Fall of 2020.
