PROJECT REQUIREMENTS DOCUMENT 1 Project Description A digital short is a short film designed primarily for viral distribution on online networks. The subjects, themes, and forms of digital shorts are unlimited. Some filmmakers use them for comedy, others to express thoughts or opinions, and still others to present news or information. Digital shorts allow amateur filmmakers to experiment with filmmaking in a quick and easy format. In this project, you will create a digital short based on a theme or subject of your choosing. Take advantage of the great flexibility of this genre of film to creatively express yourself. Project Resources Project example What Has This World Come To was directed and produced by Maria Centeno from the Boys & Girls Club of East Palo Alto, California, in conjunction with Adobe Youth Voices. Maria explains that we should all be paying attention to what’s happening around us. Click on the image to the left to view the What Has This World Come To digital short. Requirements Your digital short should adhere to the following requirements: 1. Be 3–4 minutes in length. 2. Use one or more advanced techniques or effects from the following list. 3. Be in a web-compatible format. (Note that copyright laws restrict public distribution of a video with a copyrighted song.) Advanced Techniques/Effects The following advanced techniques and effects are particularly applicable to digital short production.
