1 Summary

As the central platform for the dissemination of relevant information, the public InDeal website is created

and hosted on a professional hosting server, with www.indeal-project.eu as the domain. The website was

developed during the period M1 to M3 of the project, according to DoW schedule. Website pages are

compatible across different browsers and devices.

The website has the following dissemination goals:

▪ To inform people interested in the InDeal project [1]. This area is open to all users and to the general

public.

▪ To offer a link to a private area, which is accessible only to members of the consortium. The private

area will serve as a platform, where all deliverables, milestones and other documents concerning the

progress of the project can be shared with the partners.

This document describes firstly the structure, functionality and contents of the project website, followed

by a first version of graphic design.

The contents of the InDeal website will be updated continuously. Up-to-date information on the project,

its partners, results, publications, dissemination material as well as relevant events and news will be available

on the website throughout the duration period of the project. All public project deliverables will be available

for download. Furthermore, related initiatives and external activities will be announced on their respective

subpage.

2 Introduction

The InDeal website is available online at http://www.indeal-project.eu/. It is hosted on a Finnish

professional hosting service and will be used for external/public communication of the Consortium. In

addition, the website has a link to a Members’s area that is restricted for partners of the project, where

confidential and private documentation will be shared. This will facilitate the internal coordination of the

project, maintaining a proper level of communication. It is also worth noting that confidential deliverables

are targeted only to the members of the consortium and the Commission services.

The website has been developed using WordPress version 4.5.3 software, which is available for free on

Wordpress.org [2]. It will be periodically maintained and updated by Net Technologies Finland (NET),

based on the work jointly performed by the partners in the project. The website will be improved

continuously in terms of graphic design and content. In this document, screen shots of the second version

of the webpage are presented; however, the design and graphics may be updated later according to the

project and dissemination needs.

The structure of the website is shown in Figure 1. InDeal Website's main structure. The function of each

section is as follows:

• A public area, that serves as a publicly available source of news on the project, information about

meetings and conferences, and access to the project public deliverables and documents.

• A project management system area, named Members’ area. The InDeal website is linked to

Freedcamp.com [3], the external project management system, for the purposes of internal and

confidential communication.

The target audience of the website is the industry, the scientific community, the InDeal consortium,

administration and the general public. What kind of information can be received, regarding different target

groups, is shown in Table 1. Target audience and information received

3 Website Public Area

The public area is a dissemination tool of the project, partners, objectives, expected impacts and main

results achieved, available to the public.

The main menu of the site contains the following items: Home, Project, Partners, News & Events,

Dissemination, Cooperation, Links, Contact and Members’ area (Figure 2. Main menu). Detailed description

of each item is presented in the subparagraphs (3.1-3.8) of this section.

description, which fully underlines its innovation and attracts the general public. The navigation bar on top

of the home page allows accessing the different sub-pages. After scrolling down, relevant logos, a link to

project news, information about the European Union funding [9] [10] and links to social media (LinkedIn

[4], Twitter [5] and Youtube [6]) are also included, as shown in Figure 4. Lower part of InDeal home pageThe

3.2 Project

When entering the Project page, the user is presented with a more detailed description. The layout is

shown in

Figure 5. Project page In general, the webpage in question is structured in the following way:

• Project details: Describes the project reference, topic, funding details and start/end time of the

project

• Objectives: Briefly introduces the objectives of the project

• Overall system: Graphical presentation of the InDeal system

• Work packages: Includes a summary description of each of the work packages

• Expected Impacts: Points out the overall impacts and results

Figure 6. Partners displays the webpage, Partners, where information about the members of the InDeal

consortium can be found. It includes logos, a short description and a link to the home page of each partner.

On the News & Events webpage (

Figure 7. News & Events) information about upcoming and passed events (within the consortium or

outside) can be found. This section will be constantly updated, according to the delivered inputs of project

partners.

3.5 Dissemination

The Dissemination page collects documents that may be of interest to the audience, in order to disseminate

the InDeal project results. The page includes different categories corresponding to different document

3.6 Cooperation

On the Cooperation page short descriptions of related research projects, initiatives, organizations,

associations and collaboration forums will be provided (Figure 9. Cooperation page).

This page will be completed during the project, as soon as the InDeal consortium members will come to

mutual understanding and agreement for project information exchange purposes, with the above.

3.7 Links

On the Links sub-page the user can be informed on related EC initiatives, related projects and

publications, as well as on relevant European and National Organizations / Associations / Platforms (

3.8 Contact

The Contact sub-page provides the contact details of the Project Coordinator for anyone interested in

receiving more information on the project. A contact form is also available to the user in order to send

inquiries directly to the web manager. Any related inquiries to the website and the project will be first

dealt by the web manager, and if necessary forwarded afterwards to the Project Coordinator (

4 Members’ Area

The InDeal project has decided to use Freedcamp [3] for project management purposes and confidential

file sharing. Freedcamp can be used free of charge and offers the possibility to create projects with an

unlimited number of users. It facilitates the internal communication, such as assigning tasks to users,

following the process, starting discussions and uploading related files. The main drawback of the

management site in question is the rather limited storage space, with only 200 MB available per project.

The login page to the project management system is shown in the Figure 12. Login page to Members

areaAccess to the Members’ area is given by the Coordinator of InDeal project. If the user is already logged

in, their dashboard will be displayed (Figure 13. InDeal project management system).

5 Analytic Tool

5.1 Jetpack WordPress Stats

From the very beginning, some useful statistics of the InDeal site have been collected. The installed plugin

Jetback WordPress.com Stats [7] lets us know how many visits our site gets, and what posts and pages are

the most popular. On-screen statistics are presented as graphs and are easily viewed through the WordPress

admin interface (Figure 14. WordPress statistics4). In the following, statistics of the InDeal site for the period

24 March 2018 – 22 April 2018 are presented.

In the next figure (Figure 15) you can see the views of the period 24 March 2018 – 22 April 2018. The pages

are classified by the order of popularity. The home page has been the most popular by having 129 views,

following by Project page by 84 views and Partners page by 35 views.

The following figure (Figure 16) you can see how many visits there have been monthly from the creation of

the site, average number of visits each month and visits per day in the current calendar month.

5.2 Google analytics

We have connected our InDeal website with our Google Analytics account, in order to help us collect

valuable and up to date information and traffic data concerning the usage of our website. Apart from the

Raw Data View, which collects all information on our website traffic, we have created a Master View,

excluding web spiders and “bots” as well as the IP address of our Google Analytics administrator, in order

to get even more accurate results on our analysis reports.

During the period 20 March 2018 – 20 April 2018, our website had a total of 49 visitors and a total of 89

sessions, thus approximately 1.82 sessions per user. The total page views were 183, with the most viewed

page being InDeal project’s Home Page (with a total of 49 views this month), followed by the Project

Overview webpage (33 views this month) and the Case Studies subpage (with 14 webviews this month).

The landing page with the most sessions for this month was also our Home Page, with 36 sessions in total

and a bounce rate of 44 %. The webpages with the least exits when compared to the total page views were

Dissemination and News & Events webpages, having both 0% bounce rate.

The countries were most users are coming from are Spain, (14.29% of total users), Greece (also 14.29% of

total users) and the United States (12.24% of total users), followed by France and United Kingdom (both

8.16% of users). However, the user countries with 0% bounce rate are Brazil, Oman and Slovenia.

85.71% of our users visit InDeal’s website from a desktop PC, while 12.24% use their mobile devices and

a 2.04% their tablets. Chrome seems to be the browser of preference of our users with reaching 51.02%

percent of users, with however a 65% bounce rate. On the other hand, browsing from Firefox represents

10.20% of our users with only 40% bounce rate.

As far as user acquisition is concerned, 48.98% of total users (32,97% of total sessions) find InDeal website

with organic search. The query searched in google search engine the most and with the most Clicks was

“indeal”. This information is provided from our Google Search Console reports, where we also have an

account for our website. 48.38% of total sessions start with Direct Acquisition, meaning that they type our

websites URL directly to the address bar. 16.48% of sessions were acquired from Social Network (mainly

facebook), while 2.20% from site referrals. The website with the most links to our site is

horizon2020summit.eu, followed by storm-dhc.eu.

In Appendix 1 a set Dashboard created in Google Analytics of the Master View for the period 20 March

2018 – 20 April 2018 is presented.

6 Future Developments

The InDeal website will be updated continuously as the project progresses. Up-to-date information on the

project results will be provided. Project news will be posted, as well as information on related events.

During the project’s duration whether the set goals and objectives concerning the website are being reached

or not will be evaluated. Any feedback from the users is welcome and appreciated by the InDeal partners,

in order to make any necessary changes and improvements.

7 Conclusions

The project website plays the role of a visit card; thus, not only the content is important, but also its image.

Bearing that in mind, the final version of this website will accomplish these two objectives. By studying the

target groups and getting feedback from them, the website can be more adjusted to their requirements.
