1. GENERAL NOTES

ACCOMPANYING DETAILS IS TO BE REPORTED TO STRATHCONA COUNTY FOR INTERPRETATION AND DIRECTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT PROCEED WITH UNCERTAINTY.
1-3. LIMITS OF THE WORK SHALL BE CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD BY THE CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO ANY WORK TAKING PLACE ON SITE.
1-4. THE CONTRACTOR IS TO VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND REPORT ANY DISCREPANCIES TO STRATHCONA COUNTY.

FOR CLARIFICATION. COMMENCING WORK INDICATES THAT THE CONTRACTOR HAS ACCEPTED ALL SITE CONDITIONS AND SHALL NOT REQUEST COMPENSATION FOR WORK
ASSOCIATED WITH UNACCEPTABLE SITE CONDITIONS.
2. GENERAL WORK
2-1. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HOARDING OF ALL EXISTING TREES WITHIN OR ADJACENT TO CONSTRUCTION AREAS TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE PROJECT
MANAGER.
2-2. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ADJUSTMENT TO FINAL GRADE FOR ALL EXISTING CATCH BASINS, MANHOLES, WATER VALVES, AND HYDRANTS TO MATCH
PROPOSED GRADES. THIS IS INCIDENTAL TO THE WORK.
2-3. PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR TO CALL ALBERTA ONE CALL AT 1-800-242-3447 TO HAVE EXISTING UTILITIES LOCATED PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY
CONSTRUCTION.
2-4. PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR TO CALL STRATHCONA COUNTY TO LOCATE COUNTY UTILITIES INCLUDING WATER, SEWER, COUNTY
COMMUNICATION CABLES AND TRAFFIC CONTROL CABLES AT 780-467-7785 AS STRATHCONA COUNTY IS NOT A MEMBER OF ALBERTA ONE CALL. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
ALL DAMAGES TO ALL UTILITIES
2-5. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HAULING OF ALL EXCESS MATERIALS OFF SITE.
2-6. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GENERAL SITE CLEAN-UP ON A DAILY BASIS.
2-7. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO LANDSCAPED AREAS AND MUST MAKE ALL NECESSARY RESTORATIONS AND REPAIRS TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE
PROJECT MANAGER.
2-8. ALL EXCAVATIONS ARE TO MAINTAIN THE MINIMUM DEFINED SETBACKS FROM UTILITIES. IF EXCAVATIONS ARE REQUIRED CLOSER THAN 1.0 METERS TO UNDERGROUND POWER,
TELEPHONE AND GAS STRUCTURES, HAND DIGGING UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY WILL BE REQUIRED. THE CONTRACTOR WILL CONTACT THE
APPROPRIATE UTILITY TO APPROVE, REVIEW AND/OR DEFINE SAFE PROCEDURES.
2-9. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO LEAVE SITE IN NEAT AND CLEAN CONDITION AT THE END OF EACH DAY.
2-10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ADEQUATE SIGNS, BARRICADES, SIGNAL LIGHTS AND FLAG PERSON, AND TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS FOR THE PROTECTION OF
THE WORK AND SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC.
3. PERMITS AND STANDARDS
3-1. THE CONTRACTOR IS TO ENSURE ALL NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE WITH PIPELINE COMPANIES CONCERNING THE MOVEMENT OF ALL MATERIAL AND/OR EQUIPMENT
OVER AND/OR NEAR ANY PIPELINE RIGHT-OF-WAY.
3-2. ALL ANCILLARY WORK NORMALLY ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE DEEMED PART OF THE CONTRACT AND NO EXTRA PAYMENT WILL BE MADE FOR
THIS WORK.
3-3. A ROAD USE AGREEMENT SHALL BE IN PLACE PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE PROJECT. STRATHCONA COUNTY'S TRANSPORTATION AND AGRICULTURAL SERVICES
DEPARTMENT REQUIRES THREE (3) BUSINESS DAYS NOTICE IN ORDER TO MAKE APPROPRIATE ARRANGEMENTS. CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE.
3-4. A RIGHT-OF-WAY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY PERMIT (ROWCAP) SHALL BE IN PLACE AND ON-SITE WITH THE CONTRACTOR AT ALL TIMES CONSTRUCTION IS ACTIVE. CONTACT
STRATHCONA COUNTY'S TRANSPORTATION AND AGRICULTURAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT AT 780-417-7100. REFER TO STRATHCONA COUNTY'S WEBSITE FOR ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION. CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE.
4. MATERIALS
4-1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY ALL MATERIALS IN QUANTITIES SUFFICIENT TO COMPLETE THE WORK SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS.
4-2. NO SUBSTITUTIONS OF MATERIALS, PRODUCTS OR QUANTITIES SHALL BE PERMITTED WITHOUT PRIOR CONSENT OF STRATHCONA COUNTY.
4-3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY AND INSTALL 12 mm FIBRE MASTIC WHEN JOINING TO OR ABUTTING ANY CONCRETE SURFACE OR BUILDING FACE.
4-4. MULCH SHALL BE SHREDDED WOOD MULCH AT A MINIMUM DEPTH OF 100 mm.
4-5. THE PROJECT MANAGER MAY REQUEST RANDOM SOIL TESTS FOR AND/OR ALL SOIL TYPESAND MIXES INSTALLED WITHIN THE PROJECT. THIS MAY BE REQUESTED AT ANY TIME
DURING THE PROJECT UNTIL CCC IS RECIEVED FROM STRATHCONA COUNTY. SOIL SAMPLE LOCATIONS TO BE SELECTED BY THE PROJECT MANAGER. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE
REQUIRED TO REPLACE OR AMEND DEFICIENT SOIL/SOIL MIXES TO MEET SPECIFICATIONS SHOULD THE TEST RESULTS INDICATE DEFICIENCIES. PROJECT MANAGER TO SELECT SOIL
SAMPLE LOCATIONS AFTER REPLACEMENT/AMENDMENTS OCCUR AND CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE SOIL TESTING TO CONFIRM SPECIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MET. ALL SOIL TESTING
COSTS TO BE BORNE BY THE CONTRACTOR.
5. PLANT MATERIAL
5-1. ALL PLANT MATERIAL SHALL BE TRUE TO TYPE, SIZE, QUALITY AND CONDITIONS SPECIFIED. ALL PLANT MATERIAL SHALL BE NURSERY GROWN STOCK AND SHALL MEET OR
EXCEED THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CANADIAN NURSERY TRADES ASSOCIATION FOR SIZE, HEIGHT, SPREAD, GRADING, QUALITY AND METHOD OF CULTIVATION.
5-2. ALL TREES TO BE HIGH HEADED WITH FULL AND UNIFORM CROWNS AND SINGLE WELL DEVELOPED LEADERS. TREES WITH BROKEN LEADERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. ALL ELM
SPECIES MUST COME FROM A LOCAL DED FREE SOURCE.
5-3. TREE LOCATIONS MAY BE ADJUSTED ON SITE WITH REGARDS TO MINIMUM TREE SETBACKS FOR ABOVE AND BELOW GROUND UTILITIES.
5-4. PRIOR TO INSTALLATION, ALL NURSERY STOCK MAY BE INSPECTED BY THE PROJECT MANAGER OR OTHER CIVIC REPRESENTATIVES TO ENSURE STOCK ACCEPTABILITY.
PROJECT MANAGER TO COORDINATE THIS OPTIONAL INSPECTION AND WILL ADVISE THE CONTRACTOR ACCORDINGLY.
5-5. PROJECT MANAGER MAY REJECT PLANT MATERIAL AT ANY TIME DURING THE CONSTRUCTION AND APPROVAL PROCESS.
5-6. ALL SOD AREAS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 100 mm DEPTH TOPSOIL. ALL SEEDED AREAS, EXCEPTING SPORTS FIELDS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM 150 mm DEPTH TOPSOIL. SPORTS
FIELDS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 200 mm DEPTH TOPSOIL.
5-7. SEED MIXTURES TO BE CERTIFIED CANADA NO. 1 MIXTURE, MINIMUM GERMINATION OF 75%, MINIMUM PURITY OF 97% AND CONFORMING TO THE SPECIFIED MIXES. ALL SEED
MUST BE FROM A RECOGNIZED SEED FIRM, MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SEEDS ACT FOR CANADA NO. 1 SEED. A GERMINATION TEST AND/OR WEED SEED ANALYSIS MAY
BE REQUESTED AND ALL SEED MUST COMPLY WITH FEDERAL AND PROVINCIAL LAWS.
5-8. SPRAY PAINT ON THE TREE STAKES TO DENOTE THE YEAR OF THE PLANTING. REPLACEMENT TREES SHALL ALSO HAVE PAINT COLORS ON THE TREE STAKES. TREES PLANTED
THE FOLLOWING YEARS WILL BE COLOR CODED AS FOLLOWS:

2022 - YELLOW
