Project and Enterprise Management MSc /

This MSc aims to equip students with an advancedunderstanding of management thinking relating tothe management of enterprises and projects,particularly with regard to the roles that enterprisesplay in construction; and to give students a soundappreciation of the way projects should best bedefined, developed, and delivered.

 Degree summary 

The programme teaches concepts, tools and techniques employed inmanaging projects from their earliest stages through to operations andmaintenance. Projects will primarily be in construction (building, civilengineering, process engineering), but there will also be reference toother projects, including aerospace, automotives, electronics,organisational change, pharmaceuticals, software and IT.

The programme is delivered through a combination of formal andinteractive lectures, small-group seminars, tutorials, workshops, visitingspeakers and site visits. Assessment is through coursework, essays,written papers and examinations, and the dissertation.

Half-day site visits will be undertaken.

Accreditation

Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the world's leadingprofessional body for qualifications and standards in land, property,infrastructure and construction.

 Degree structure 

Mode: Full-time: 1 year; Flexible: 2-5 years

Location: London, Bloomsbury

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits. The programmeconsists of four core modules (60 credits), four optional modules (60credits) and a dissertation (60 credits). In addition, there are twonon-assessed, but compulsory modules in management and researchmethods.

A Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits, full-time nine months) is offered.

// All MSc students submit a 10,000-word dissertation on a topic related to the mainthemes of the programme. The topic can be chosen to enhance career development orfor its inherent interest.

Graduate career options are varied. Students are expected to go on towork in many related areas: public sector infrastructure clientorganisations, construction, engineering and design enterprises,professional consultants and commercial research organisations, andclient enterprises with significant project portfolios such as largemanufacturing, transport, financial, electrical, gas, water, petrochemical,pharmaceutical, defence enterprises as well as governmentdepartments and agencies. A number of students use the MSc as afoundation for MPhil/PhD research.

 Entry requirements 

The normal minimum qualifications are a lower second-class Bachelor'sdegree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalentstandard.

English language proficiency level

If your education has not been conducted in the English language, youwill be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level ofEnglish proficiency.

The level of English language proficiency for this programme is:Standard.
