Progress to Date
• In 2006 the University completed its first Carbon
Management Plan
• In January 2011 the University published its second
Carbon Management Plan
• The University commits to reducing direct electricity,
gas & fuel consumption by 48%* by 2020.
* Against a 2005/06 baseline

• The University has achieved a 20%↓ in its
direct electricity, gas & fuel consumption
already!
• Carbon is now one of the University's key
working themes & will be reviewed annually.

The Carbon Trust believes the University of Sunderland is making
the greatest progress to date of the 120 universities it is engaged
with.
