The department has developed three options that will enable the interchange to meet future traffic demands. These options are featured within this newsletter. Community consultation on the options together with technical investigations will assist in developing the preferred concept plan. This will form the basis of a Business Case to be submitted to the Australian and Queensland Governments for funding. No funding has yet been allocated to the construction of the Interchange. In developing these options, the department has considered environmental, social, property, connectivity and traffic impacts. Consultation is being conducted with stakeholders and the community in the local vicinity to inform the planning process and consider local needs. Long term benefits provided by all options include: improved transport safety improved reliability improved connectivity improved access to public transport reduced congestion improved access to Ipswich Motorway and local streets. The improvements will build on benefits delivered by the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade: Wacol to Darra which is currently underway. The projectThe most appropriate strategies for long term improvements to the Progress Road Interchange are now being investigated.

Improvements to the interchange will address future traffic andlocaldevelopmentneedsforthenext20years.Longterm benefits will include improved transport safety, connectivity and improved access to public transport.

The planning study will help inform future decisions when funding for the project becomes available. Full consideration and cooperation will be given to adjoining projects as well as coordination with future development plans for the region.

Early studies on traffic reliability, safety and the environment have been conducted for the future upgrade of the Progress Road Interchange. Options are now available for public viewing and community feedback will continue to shape the study and assist in selecting a preferred option.
