PDG Shaju Peter as Chief Guest at Dehradun At a glittering ceremony held at Hotel Madhuban, Dehradun on July 16, 2016 Rtn. Sumeet Nanda was installed as the 77th President of the Rotary Club of Dehradun, the oldest club in District 3080. IPP Dr. S. Farooq had a remarkable year of service with all the members of the club becoming PHFs, thanks to the persuasive power of the first lady Mrs. Naghma Farooq. The other major initiative of Dr. Farooq was the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Cancer Palliative Care Centre in the premises owned by the club.

Recalling his visit to the club a few years ago again at an installation function, Shaju began his address by saying, “In accepting your invitation I have run the highly probable risk of familiarity breeding

contempt.” He invited members’ attention to the tumultuous year of 2015-16, marked by discord and disaffection and expressed the hope that we would soon come out of it by replacing ill will with goodwill, acrimony and discord with harmony and cohesion. In the midst of it all and the encircling gloom IPDG David Hilton steered the ship of the district in turbulent times like a rock solid captain, said Shaju and congratulated him and Patricia who stood by him like a pillar of strength.
