Entry Information A maximum of three (3) tests per day and only two consecutive levels may be ridden per horse/pony throughout the competition. All horses will be required to wear a number. Restricted and SDDC class riders will be nominated a number. Riders must provide their own number holder and it must always be displayed whilst the horse is being ridden. The number can either be displayed on the bridle or saddle blanket. Closing Date Wednesday, 6 January 2021. Late entries may be accepted after this date, on payment of an additional fee of $20 per horse/rider combination. Helper Duties Riders may self-help for one horse only. If riding more than 1 horse, an additional helper will need to be provided or an additional helper fee of $50 will be payable. If the allocated helper duty is not completed at the event then the rider will be eliminated. Catering Food and refreshments will be provided at the canteen and will be available for purchase. Classes Competitor Classes

i. Rider must be a Competitor member of EA; ii. Horses & Ponies must be EA registered and hold a current Dressage Performance Card;

iii. Ponies must hold a current, valid EA height certificate. Participation/Restricted SDDC Members Classes

Riders must be either a Participant member of EA, or a member of SDDC. Restricted SDDC Member Only Classes.

Riders must be members of SDDC.

Registration & Performance Cards All membership & registration documents must be available on request. (Copy of current valid Dressage Card to be provided with entry). Dress Formal riding attire is required for all classes. Plaiting of horses Horses are to be plaited for all classes.

Horse numbers All horses will be required to wear a number. Restricted and SDDC class riders will be nominated a number. Riders must provide their own number holder and it must always be displayed whilst the horse is being ridden. The number can either be displayed on the bridle or saddle blanket.

Code of Conduct Please ensure you are familiar with the Equestrian WA Code of Conduct, available at www.wa.equestrian.org.au.

Warm up Etiquette. (See map for areas reference) Correct protocol in the warm up area is expected. Lunging is only to be undertaken in the grassed area 6 located next to the club rooms. The round yard is not to be used during the competition.

Ridden warmup can be undertaken in areas 1, 2 and 8. Final warm up area 3 will be limited to 2 riders from each of the

three arenas (total of 6 riders). These riders will be the two next in line to ride in the arenas.

Protests and Appeals These must be in writing and accompanied by a fee of $50. Refer to ‘SDDC Protest Protocol’ at www.sddc.org.au/site/competitions

Yards and Camping There are yards and camping available at the AEC however no powered sites. If yards are used, they must be cleaned of manure and hay, and the gates closed before leaving the AEC.

Refunds and Scratchings Entry fees will not be refunded after the closing date of entries unless a medical or veterinary certificate is produced within 5 days of the completion of the event (22 January 2021).

Change of Riders & Horses Riders may be changed before the start of the class however a rider of a horse may not be changed if another rider has ridden the horse on the day either in warm-up or in the competition. Horses cannot be changed, and the draw position cannot be changed without the permission of the Organising Committee.

Presentations. Presentations will take place at the completion of each day at the club rooms. Competitors are asked to attend presentations in full competition dress. Competitors are asked to acknowledge the generosity of our sponsors in either writing or in person. Championships and High Point Awards prizes will be awarded at Presentations. Presentations will not commence until all equipment is packed away.

Dogs Must be on a leash at all times. If complaints are made regarding an unruly dog the Organising Committee may require the dog to be removed from the event.

Officials, ground staff and volunteers These people are essential to the running of the event. Please treat them with respect. Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. Verbal or physical bullying behaviour will be reported to the Organising Committee and disciplinary action will be taken where appropriate. Duty of Care It is your responsibility to promptly report unsafe and or hazardous situations to the Event Organiser.

damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, grooms, spectators or any other person or property whatsoever. By submitting an entry form for this event, all riders accept the Dangerous Activity Acknowledgement. The Southern Districts Dressage Club accepts no liability for the loss of, or damage to, vehicles, or any other goods or articles, and does not offer any personal insurance to riders. Reservation of Right: The Organising Committee reserves the right:

• To cancel any class or event;

• To divide any class;

• To transfer competitors between sections of a class;

• To alter the advertised times; and

• To refuse any entry, with or without stating the reason.

Championships & Awards Championship Awards Separate Championships are awarded for overall Competitor and overall Restricted classes.

There is no restriction on a horse/rider combination being awarded more than one Championship. At Competitor level, Pony classes are combined with the Open class to form an overall placing for the allocation of points, and in the Restricted classes the age categories are combined in an overall class to form an overall placing for the allocation of points. There will be no separate championships for ponies (unless more than 5 ponies are entered). In the case where there is only one competitor at a level, the Championship will only be awarded where the required tests are completed with an average percentage of 58% or above.

For each dressage test, points are awarded, based on the points system of 30 for 1st, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd and so on, on placings gained within the overall class. The Championship at each level is determined by the total points achieved in the two individual dressage tests at that level with the exception of Para Champion, with the higher total points awarded being the Champion. Para Champion is determined by the horse and rider combination with the two highest Para test scores over all the levels. In the event of a tie, the Championship will be determined on the higher percentage in the higher individual dressage test at that level shall be the Champion. If tied, the higher collective marks in the higher individual test will decide, if the collective marks are equal, the collective marks of the Judge at C will be decisive.

Special Awards

Sharon Masters Perpetual Trophy

Sharon was a long serving Club member, who also served on the S.D.D.C. Committee for a number of years. Whenever she competed, Sharon always had a smile on her face, with both her and her horse immaculately presented.

Unfortunately, we lost Sharon in May of 2018, and in her memory her partner, Peter Malins, had a special perpetual trophy crafted, to be presented to the best turned out local horse and rider at the Southern Solstice each year.

Off the Track Hi Point awards

Conditions of eligibility; Competitor must provide their horse’s racing name, competition name and Horse ID Number. Require competitors to have successfully applied for their horses' OTTWA Passport and provide Horse ID Number with entry.
