Martin Clunes (“Doc Martin”) stars as world-famous author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in this

three-part adaptation of Julian Barnes’ acclaimed novel, which follows the separate but intersecting lives of two men: a half-Indian son of a vicar who is framed for a crime he may not have committed

and Doyle, who investigates the case.

This year, the tent welcomes a baker’s dozen to the battle to be named the U.K.’s best amateur baker. Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins coax them through

their Signature, Technical and Showstopper challenges, under the scrutiny of judges Mary

Berry and Paul Hollywood. With 13 bakers — from space engineer to student, teacher to dentist,

psychologist to carpenter — Mary and Paul may decide at any time to banish not one but two

bakers. After 10 weeks of whisking, crimping and piping, only one can emerge victorious.

Monday 7 - The Cause - 1861 What caused the war? Beginning with an examination of slavery, this episode looks at the causes of the war and the burning questions of union and states’ rights.

Tuesday 8 - A Very Bloody Affair - 1862 1862 sees the birth of modern warfare and the

transformation of Abraham Lincoln’s war to preserve the Union into a war to emancipate the slaves.

Forever Free - 1862 Convinced by July 1862 that emancipation is now morally and militarily crucial to the future of the

Union, Abraham Lincoln must wait for a victory to issue his proclamation.

Wednesday 9 - Simply Murder - 1863 A nightmarish Union disaster at Fredericksburg

precedes two clashes in the spring of 1863.

The Universe of Battle -1863 The Battle of Gettysburg is the turning point of the war.

Thursday 10 - Valley of the Shadow of Death - 1864

Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee are pitted against each other in an extraordinary series

of battles from the wilderness to Petersburg in Virginia.

Most Hallowed Ground - 1864 The presidential campaign of 1864 sets

Abraham Lincoln against his old commanding general, George McClellan.

Friday 11 - War Is All Hell - 1865 William Tecumseh Sherman’s March to the

Sea brings war to the heart of Georgia and the Carolinas and spells the end

of the Confederacy.

The Better Angels of Our Nature - 1865 On April 14, five days after Robert E. Lee’s

surrender at Appomattox, Abraham Lincoln is assassinated.

In 1932 the height of privilege was to be British in India, and the high point was the summer season at the hard-partying colonial retreat of Simla in the Himalayan

foothills. Rude reality intrudes on this spectacular paradise in Indian Summers,

starring Julie Walters (Oscar® nominee for Billy Elliot and Educating Rita) as the wily

hostess of Simla society.

Walt Disney was uniquely adept at art as well as commerce, a master filmmaker who harnessed the power of technology and storytelling. This

new two-part, four-hour film examines Disney’s complex life and enduring legacy, featuring rare archival footage from the Disney vaults, scenes from some of his greatest films, and interviews

with biographers, animators and artists who worked on early films, including Snow White,

and the designers who helped turn his dream of Disneyland into reality.
