Specializations
13
We adopt holistic approach of ‘system improvement andenergy efficiency ‘ for achieving savings in bills.
Focus is on techno-commercial projects. In most cases‘over-all ROI is below 12 months. A few individualprojects needing Technology up-gradation / replacementmay have higher ROI of 24-30 months..
Study should consider least requirement of plant shut-down to avoid/ minimize negative effect of Energy-savingprojects on production.
When recommending procurement of New Equipment, concept of ‘Life-cycle costing’ is followed.
Focus

Sequence of Activities for Energy Audit
15
Preliminary Data
collection
• Getting Pre-audit data of equipment and its study as part of preparation for plant visit.
AHSRAE
Level I
• Walk-through in plant to understand plant systems, operating practices and making ‘macro-level’ assessment of Energy Saving Potential. Submission of Quotation and finalization of Order for Energy Audit.
ASHRAE
Level
II & III
• Carrying-out detailed energy audit-measurements, analysis of data, finding opportunities for Energy Saving, making action plan for Energy Conservation with calculation of savings and investment, ROI.
Optimization of Settings: Study the Process requirement and try tooptimize settings(Flow, pressure, temp, etc.). Savings come withzero/minor investment and short lead time.
Efficiency Improvement: of existing equipment and systems.Investment is low to moderate. Good savings are possible.
Technology Induction: Excellent savings are feasible with inductingpresent-day, high-efficiency equipment. However, capital investmentwith ROI of 20-30 months is required. As most equipment will havelife of over 10 years, in many cases, this route is viable with long-terms, major gains.
When recommending procurement of New Equipment, concept of‘Life-cycle costing’ is followed.
