PROFILE

Prof. Bilqees Bano is an active member of the department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Life Sciences, A. M.

U., Aligarh UP India. She obtained her M. Sc., M. Phil. and Ph. D. degrees from this university in

Biochemistry. She has an excellent academic record and has been a recipient of prestigious merit

scholarships and gold medal (at undergraduate and post graduate levels). She has received several

fellowships (at pre-Ph. D. level from CSIR- JRF, SRF; at post-Ph. D. level from CSIR- PDF Award and

TEACHING

EXPERIENCE:

I have been teaching courses in Biochemistry, especially courses in

proteins, enzymes, and biochemical techniques to undergraduates

and postgraduate students.

RESEARCH SUPERVISION

Twenty (24) students have been awarded Ph.D degree

Two (02) students have been awarded M. Phil. degree

(Field of study: Thiol proteinase inhibitors from plant and animal sources,

comparative study of various edible oils on health and effect of fish and olive oil

treatment on antibiotic nephrotoxicity in rats.).

Guided seven (07) M.D. students to complete their thesis on the topic “Cysteine

proteinase inhibitors, estimation of nitrite and nitrate, antioxidant enzymes level in

pregnancy and associated disorders”

Presently Six (04) students are working under my supervision for Ph.D degree.

Areas of research: Thiol proteinase inhibitors from animal and plant sources.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

Under the exchange programme of (DST), an eminent Professor V. Zaitsev of Ivanovo State

University, Russia has visited the Dept. of Biochemistry, A.M.U., Aligarh to work with me,

writing Book and research work collaboration.
