Kuban (Western) Tur in Russia

Kuban Tur is a highly desirable trophy. Only comparatively small part of Caucasus Mountains holds population of Kuban Tur. Hunting is a great challenging experience. Since 2005 our clients had 100% success on this hunt. This trip can also be nicely combined with Caucasian Chamois and Mid-Caucasian Tur. We proud that our client and friend Garry Parker was the fist hunter who hunted all three tur species during one trip. Garry is awesome in mountains. Kuban Tur counts both towards the Ovis and Capra World Slams, and Chamois counts towards the Capra World Slam. See our clients in SCI Record Book: Butch Kuflak, David F. Myrup, Dennis Campbell, Eduardo J.M. Gerlero, Gary D. Parker, George Harms, Jeffery L. Meyerl, Larry S. Lewis, Mike J. Borel, Richard Sand, Zeev Nederman. In 2014 our good friend Jim Shockey shot amazing Tur that will probably become Rank 4 in SCI Record Book.

Mid-Caucasian Tur in Russia

Some Turs live on the eastern side of the Caucasus Mountains and called Dagestan or Eastern Tur, the other live on the western side of the Caucasus Mountains of Russia and known as Kuban (Western) Tur. Mid-Caucasian Tur inhabits those areas where these two species are mixed - Nalchik area. The three different Turs count toward both the Ovis and Capra World Slams. With no doubts Tur hunts are the very demanding, you should be completely ready for this challenging adventure, but the reward worth it.

See our clients in SCI Record Book: Arthur R. Dubs, Gary D. Parker, Gary Rigotti, George Harms, Kenneth L. Barr, Larry Higgins. For the last 2 hunting seasons TOP 10 of SCI record book was supplemented by Zeev Niederman with Rank #7 and Richard Sand with Rank#5 trophies.

Dagestan (Eastern) Tur

Azerbaijan and Russia have the best areas and the best chance for high quality trophies of Dagestan Tur. Tur population is very strong here. It is not unusual to see groups of 20-30 mature males. Average trophy is 33-35 inches with some trophies up to 40 inches taken. Dagestan Tur in Russia is a rather new destination, we arrange this hunt in North Ossetia republic, since now you can harvest all three subspecies of Turs within Russian boarders, there is no need to change countries anymore, no extra flights and additional expenses.

Tur hunting is very challenging and it is one of the most demanding trophies. Dagestan Tur counts both towards the Ovis and Capra World Slams. It has more curved horns than other species of Tur - quite unusual for a goat, being smooth and rounded.

Caucasian Chamois in Russia

Chamois are graceful, nimble and surefooted animals that inhabit high alpine slopes. When alarmed, chamois hide in inaccessible places. Chamois look like a crossbreed of a mountain goat and an antelope and originate from the mountains of Asia and Europe. They are seldom found below 5,500 feet, and often live as high as 13,000 feet. Chamois hunt is a combination of a great opportunity for sightseeing and challenge hunting. The Chamois counts toward the Capra World Slam.

It is easy to combine with one out of three Tur species or with all of them right away. These combinations are our strong points, we do these hunts for almost 20 years already, we know how to make every detail perfect to provide you with memorable experience.

Kamchatka Snow Sheep in Russia

The average trophy size is 34-37 inches with occasional 40 inch ram taken. These sheep have the heaviest bases of all snow sheep of Asia. We do not promise you to see a lot of rams but strive to make your hunt successful. Kamchatka snow sheep is a 100% stalking hunt, you should expect to walk and climb a lot, live in a spike tent camps. Now when the flight from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy was reopened, the Snow sheep became closer for US hunters, there is no need to fly all over the world through Moscow anymore. Starting from 20 August sheep hunting can be combined with Kamchatka Brown Bear at a trophy fee base only. We are very proud to inform you that this season our German hunter Dieter Pfannenstein shot a World Record ram which is the biggest Snow Sheep trophy ever taken! Come to hunt with us Kamchatka Snow Sheep and we will prove you to be the # 1 operator there!.

Yakutia Snow Sheep in Russia

Snow sheep population in Russia is estimated to be around 57,700 heads and not including protected species such as Putorana and Chukotka sheep. A large portion of sheep population is located in Yakutia, which is about 40,000 animals. Our success rate in this hunting area is nearly 100% although the hunt is not easy at all and demands a very good physical condition to be able to cover considerable distances every day.You fly to Moscow where you are met by our crew, and then you will fly to Yakutsk. We will do everything possible to expedite the customs procedure. From Yakutsk you will be transferred to the camp by helicopter MI-8. It takes almost two hours to get to camp. We do plan ten full hunting days just in case of bad weather bur normally the hunters get the rams in the middle of the hunt. Come to Yakutia with us and get your desirable trophy!.

Koryak Snow Sheep in Russia

The north of Kamchatka Peninsula offers some exceptional hunting for Koryak snow sheep. This huge area still has excellent population of rams. Koryak Snow Sheep average size is 34-35 inches with occasional 40 - inch ram taken. Sheep are found at 4,000–5,000 feet. At the present moment you have a great opportunity to get to Petropavlovsk directly from USA via Anchorage. The flights are once a week in August – September. Our representative will meet you in the airport of arrival and will help you with custom and police formalities. Our experienced English speaking guides will accompany you since your arrival up to your departure flight registration desk. The group normally consists of 4 hunters to share the helicopter costs. Starting from 20 August sheep hunting can be combined with Kamchatka Brown Bear at a trophy fee base only – what a good opportunity to get both trophies in one trip!

Russia has a vast opportunity for hunting different species of Snow Sheep; they can be found only in the most remote and practically inaccessible areas of Russia. Snow sheep population in Russia is estimated to be around 57,000 heads and not including protected species such as Putorana Sheep and Chukotka Sheep.

Okhotsk Snow Sheep inhabits mountainous terrains of Khabarovsk region in Russia. Hunters can still found excellent populations of Snow Sheep there. Success rate is nearly 100% but the hunter has to be in a very good shape and able to walk big distances every day. This race of Okhotsk snow sheep has the largest white area on the forehead of all Snow sheep, as well as the largest body size – identical to Kamchatka Snow sheep.

Page 19: ProfiHunt hunting catalog 2015

This sheep is found only in the Magadan Region, and predominantly in the Kolyma Mountain range. The northern boundary is considered to be the Chukotka Autonomous Region border. The western boundary is considered to be the border of Yakutia, from the Omolon River to the Kolyma River. The western boundary then follows the Kolyma River to the Trans-Siberian Highway. The southern boundary is considered to be the Trans-Siberian Highway, which begins in the city of Magadan. This actually runs in a northerly direction. For all practical purposes, the range of the Kolyma sheep is west of the Koryak Mountains down through the Kolyma range of mountains, which are east of the Kolyma River. Our Top Lady hunter Renee Snider has achieved a great success being able to get a fantastic combination in Magadan taking Kolyma, Okhotsk and Yakutsk Sheep in one trip having spent only 3 weeks there ! What an amazing achievement!

Kamchatka Brown Bear in Russia

Kamchatka Brown Bear hunt is one of the most exciting adventures available for the hunters. Success is 100%. We have been hunting brown bear in Kamchatka for over 18 years producing big bears. Each year at least fifteen our clients take 9 foot bears and four-five clients take 10 feet trophies.

At the present moment the most reliable way to get to Petropavlovsk in Spring is to fly via Moscow. In fall you can fly directly from Anchorage. You will be met by our representative at the airport and assisted through the customs. Our English speaking guides will accompany you since your arrival up to your departure flight registration desk. We will take care of every detail: visa support, domestic flights, hotels etc. Entrust us your adventure.

Siberian Brown Bear is intermediate in size between Eurasian and Kamchatka Brown Bears. The fur is long, soft and dense. The color is usually dark brown with noticeably darker legs. The Siberian Brown Bear occupies the largest habitat in Russia and runs between 7,5 – 8 feet. We operate in one of the best areas in Russia called Kemerovo which is very famous by its great Bears. Per year we normally take 3 hunters in the beginning of May.

Bears are typically congregated in areas where the first green grass shoots appear. They are hunted by spot and stalk, and also by baiting. Considerable walking is necessary, be sure to be in a good fit. We do plan 6 full hunting days to increase your chances go get a good trophy.

The Amur Brown Bear (Ursus arctos lasiotus) is also known as Black Grizzly because of their almost black colour. In Russia they are found along the Amur River region and in Sakhalin Island. The Amur brown bear runs between eight and eight and a half feet. It is a perfect hunting adventure with very high success rate. Normally Amur Brown Bears are hunted on bait from the high seat. A hunter must be very attentive while seating on the high seat in order not to produce any sound. Mosquitoes make this more difficult but the hunt is going to be a real challenge at the end. You’ll be able to get a unique chance to follow the hunting paths of Russian trapper Dersu Uzalawho is well known in Russia and all over the world. European Moose can be found both in Europe and western Asia, from the Ural Mountains east to the Yenisei River and Altai Range in western Siberia. European Moose have fairly well developed antlers, often with decent palms that can weigh up to 44 pounds without the skull. European Moose from western Siberia are larger with more palmate antlers then those in European Russia.

Comfortable cabins and lodges are used to accommodate hunters in these areas. Every camp has with an interpreter and a cook. Each hunter is provided with two guides. Hunting is done on foot. Jeeps are used for transportation in the area. Hunt by calling in a mature bull moose is the most successful at this time.

Lynx is one of the most beautiful Russian forest mammals. It is a very shy carnivore, seldom seen by humans. The Eurasian lynx is the largest of the world’s lynxes. It is a medium-sized cat with relatively long legs, black ear tufts and a short tail with dark tip. Its reddish-gray or yellow-gray fur is usually covered with dark spots. The paws are densely furred for walking in the snow. The winter coat is very beautiful - long, soft and thick. Light feet, acute hearing and sense of smell allow this predator to become a hard-to-get trophy for the hunter. The most effective way is to hunt lynx with dogs. Specially trained dogs follow the fresh tracks. Lynx is a poor, quick winded runner and will soon attempt to climb a tree. This hunt will be suitable for adrenalin addicted hunters who is fond of active pursuit that makes heart beating faster. The trophy of successful hunt is going to be most desirable in one’s collection.

Marco Polo and Hume Argali in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is a famous destination for hunters seeking for a great adventure. The largest Ibex in the world and different subspecies of Argali – Tian Shan Argali, Marco Polo Argali and Hume Argali inhabit these mountains. Average size of sheep is 51-52 inches with occasional 60 inches trophy taken. It is an unforgettable adventure to hunt at 12,000 feet on a horseback, surrounded by a beautiful alpine panorama. Camps in Kyrgyzstan are traditional Asian yurts and wooden cabins. They are warm, clean and comfortable. Horses are used for most of Kyrgyzstan hunting trips in order to increase the success rate. Expect extensive horseback riding and considerable walking. Sheep are generally located in remote country at 12,000 feet. Once the trophy is located you complete your stalk on foot. Physical condition is an important factor for the stalking part of the hunt. Long range shooting, up to 500 yards is normal.

Officially Hangai Argali is not considered to be separate subspecie of Argali. The title was created in 1997 to make the registration of the trophies taken in the area located far from Altai Mountains to the North from Goby Mountains. This area belongs to the southern range of Hangay Mountains. In the early 80-ties this trophy was proclaimed as Mid-Altay Argali and sold at lower prices than Altay Argali hunt. Males that inhabit this area are smaller in body and horns size than males of Altay Argali, but bigger than Goby Argali.

To avoid confusion and to single out Hangai Argali as separate specie it was decided that Hangay Argali inhabits the areas to the west of the 97 eastern longitude and Goby Argali inhabits the areas to the south of the 45 northern latitude.

After the Beceite ibex, the Gredos ibex is the largest and darkest in color and has the largest horns. Typically, the horns are lyre-shaped with a pronounced curve and a spiral turn of more than 180 degrees. Horn thickness decreases progressively from the base to the very thin tip. While this is the typical Gredos horn conformation, other horn shapes may be found in this region and even in the same herd. Gredos ibex is endemic to: Sierra de Gredos, Sierra de Francia, as well as some other small mountain ranges in central Spain.Remnant populations survive in the Picos de Europa as well as reintroduced ones, the largest population here is in the mountains north of Riano also other parts of the Cordillera Cantábrica. It is also found in southern Galicia near the border with Portugal.

This is the largest and darkest type with the largest horns. Typically, the horns are straighter than in Gredos ibex and have a spiral turn of less than 180 degrees. Horn thickness remains constant for half the length, then decreases toward the tip, which is not as thin as in the Gredos race. While this is the typical Beceite horn conformation, other horn shapes may be found in this region and even in the same herd. Inhabits Tortosa, one of the most beautiful corners of Spain, notable for the striking contrasts of its rugged mountain terrain and the neatly tended fields and orchards of its unspoiled valleys. The massif forming the Puertos de Beceite constitutes a kind of bridge between the Sistema lbérico and the Prelitoral mountains of Catalunya. The range starts south-west of the Ebro and continues inland in a chain of calcareous peaks that rise from the Tossal d‘En Grilló (1,076 m/3,530 ft) to Encanadé (1,396 m/4,579 ft).

The smallest type of Spanish ibex with the smallest horns. Overall color is a light brown. The horns resemble those of an Alpine ibex, typically growing upward in a V shape, then backward with a spiral turn of only 90 degrees. Horn thickness is constant for half the length, then decreases gradually to the broomed tips.

The Ibex inhabits Ronda mountains that are situated north of Malaga in the Andalucian region of Spain. The hills in this area are pretty modest by European standards the highest peak is 1,919m: still well over 500m higher than Ben Nevis. But what they lack in height they more than make up for in magnificent Iberian spectacle.

Page 51: ProfiHunt hunting catalog 2015

Smaller and lighter in color than the Beceite and Gredos types, but larger and darker than the Ronda type. Horn size and shape vary considerably from place to place, with those from the Sierra Nevada generally the largest. Horns from Tejada-Almijara tend to be the most distinctive, forming a circle with the tips growing toward the neck like those of a mouflon. The keel is smooth, making the horns almost round in cross-section.

The Ibex Inhabits Sierra Nevada, it is a dramatic, rugged and extensive mountain range, the highest in Europe after the Alps and the most significant section of the Cordillera Penibética. The protected area encompasses 86,208ha of torrential rivers, sheer-sided gorges, stony scree slopes, glacial lakes between snowy summits and, in the foothills of the Alpujarras, cultivated terraces of almond trees and vegetables.

The Alpine Chamois is a member of the Bovidae family. It is native to the mountainous regions in Europe, including the Carpathian Mountains of Romania, the European Alps, the Tatra Mountains, the Balkans, parts of Turkey, and the Caucasus. It had also been successfully introduced into New Zealand’s south island. They live at moderately high altitudes and are adapted to living in precipitous, rugged, rocky terrain. These ungulates are found at elevations of at least 11,800 ft (3,600 m). In Europe, Chamois spend their summers above the forest line in meadows. A fully grown chamois reaches a height of about 28–31 inches (70–80 cm) and measures 42–54 in (107–137 cm) long. Males are slightly heavier and larger than the females (66–130 lb) (30–60 kg). The Chartreuse chamois is only found in the Chartreuse mountains between Grenoble and Chambery. The specie prefers wooded areas and lower mountain terrain with the altitude between 1000 and 2000 meters. Similar to other chamois species it uses the environment to it’s advantage and adapts to a very wide range of climates and plant varieties.

The hunting area for this magnificent chamois located in the middle of the Chartreuse Mountain national park, the only place in the world where you can hunt and officially register your trophy. The number of hunting permits is very limited and it is an important issue, to be sure of getting the permit in the right place, you should look for the hunt beforehand.

The Southern Alps Chamois were originally native to central and Southern Europe and first arrived in New Zealand in 1907, gifted by the Emperor Franz Josef of Austria. (A tourist town and glacier on the west coast are named after him) Liberated near Aoraki/Mt Cook, they are now found through out most of the Southern Alps and these remain the only free-ranging herd outside of their Northern Hemisphere home territories.

As a member of the antelope family, the Chamois has exceptional eyesight and the ability to run effortlessly in the roughest terrain – it is considered as one of the most graceful game animals found in New Zealand. Come and get an adventure, combine your hunt with the outstanding and unique sightseeing tour.
