PROFESSOR FERDINAND BLUMENTRIT
ROXAS BLVD, ERMITA, METRO MANILA
STATUE OF BLUMENTRIT
PROF.FERDINAND BLUMENTRIT is also known as best friend of our national
hero but there are some people saying that Rizal and Blumentrit has a relation. He
is also a writer, He wrote expansively about the Philippines even He never visited
the island. Blumentrit is the one who has a greater knowledge about Rizal because
Rizal is always updating him when he did something. He is also a adviser of our
national hero in all aspects. He translated the latter's first book, Noli Me Tangere,
into German and wrote the preface to Rizal's second book, El filibusterismo,
although he was against its publication. These two novels are commentaries
disguised as fiction which angered both the Catholic Church and the Spanish
colonial government, and which eventually led to Rizal's 1896 trial and execution.
Blumentritt was born in Prague(now the Czech Republic, in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire). He is a nephew of the Hungarian German writer Ferenc
Virghalmi. Blumentrit is also a supporter of Rizal. He died at September 20 1913
at an age of 60.

the exact location where Rizal was executed represented by life-size dioramas of his
final moments. The mausoleum consists of a standingbronze sculpture of
the martyr, with an obelisk as his backdrop, set on a pedestal upon which his
remains are interred. A plaque on the pedestal front reads: "To the memory of JosRizal, patriot and martyr, executed on Bagumbayan Field December Thirtieth
1896.It took 5 years to complete. It is dedicated to the memory of our national hero,
patriot and martyr. If we can notice Rizal is holding a book. The book represents
the Noli Me tangere and El filibustirismo. It is planed to construct during the

NOLI ME TANGERE GARDEN
ROXAS BLVD, ERMITA, METRO MANILA
Noli me tange garden is formally inaugurate and open by the NPDC on June 18,
2011. Formerly called the Rizal Fountain, the Noli Me Tangere Garden main
attraction is the Heidelberg Fountain where Dr. Jose Rizal used to drink from
when he was living in Heidelberg. The event will be a truly auspicious occasion,
since it falls just a day before Rizal's 150th birth anniversary. Tourism officials,
cultural stakeholders and colleagues from the academe, diplomatic corps and press
are invited in that past event. I do not know why they called it the NOLI ME
TANGERE garden, although you see there the bust of Ferdinand Blumentritt and
the Fountain where Rizal supposedly drank from, in that same area is the
Philippine-Canadian Friendship Garden right beside it and the Binhi ng Kalayaansculpture of Ed Castrillo that i find out of place.
